I’m a member over on r/flashlight and I have a D4K, a D4SV2, and a KR1 but I’ve only purchased these recently. Olight got me into the hobby, my first good quality light was a Baton SIIR. I probably have 7 Olights. The UI is great, the battery doesn’t bother me, they last long, and charging is bog simple. I just ordered one of these in green. I’ll use the laser pointer daily at my job.

    Great review!
I have 2 Arkfelds. One is a solid copper body with the cool tint LED. The other is in pinwheel finish with neutral tint LED, and is my primary EDC. The magnetic charging is OK, but I would prefer USB C. If I had designed this light, I would have put a C charging port on the side, and a recessed momentary/fw clicky switch on the tail for the turbo mode. But those are minor gripes. The magnetic charging base does allow the light to be attached to metal surfaces, so can be handy for hands-free use. Olight does not state anywhere in the included literature what emitter it is using. A friend of mine has a neutral tint Arkfeld that he was torture testing, so it's quite beat up. It still works fine despite the abuse. So I took his apart, pried the bezel and lens off. The emitter looks to be an Osram P9.
I look forward to using my Arkfeld as my primary EDC for now, until I decide to swap it with something else.

So glad to see you review this! I've been waiting and looking to see the beam profile on this thing, and I like it! Olight historically does such a great job with the optics they choose, nice to find hotspots that are usable because they are large enough. I think it's great that you have reviewed a couple Olight products, the equipment you have really drive the point home that these lights are good. Also nice to see Olight using a nice bin of LED in this neutral white. on my nuetral white limited edition lime green S2R baton the light quality was very poor and very high above BBL. Awesome to see that this performs much better. That reading is totally acceptable in my opinion

Great review man, I'm expecting my Arkfeld tomorrow and can't wait to put it to work. I work construction and daily carry an olight i3t with a 10440 battery. It's worked very well for me for a few years now. I'm guessing I'm getting about 150 to 200 lumen on low and close to 500 on high with the battery upgrade but now being able to sling 1000lumen out in something this small is gonna be game changing, not to mention a green laser for pointing out issues with buildings.

I do maintenance on industrial machinery. It's nice having a pointer to pick out things when working with coworkers. I don't have to climb up in a machine just to point something out. I don't feel like the "turbo" is actually 1000 lumens though, I could be wrong. It's just my 1000 lumen surefire flashlight is brighter.

    • @cheule
      @cheule  Год назад

I guarantee it’s 1,000 lumens on turbo, because I’ve measured 3 different samples now, and they were all 1,000 lumens. Regardless of CCT too! You’re probably responding to the higher candela of the surefire. The optic for the Arkfeld is fairly floody.

I work on cars (Collision and Paintless Dent Repair) and an EDC flashlight is a must. The Streamlight Wedge has been great but a bit too long. Although I've only had the Arkfeld for just a few days, it's the mini Wedge I've been wanting. The biggest benefit is that I can hold it in my mouth with ease, leaving both hands free to work on whatever. If Streamlight did come out with a mini Wedge then it's a battle. And I'll get that too, of course.

I'm really considering this one, but the thing I don't like is that it doesn't have the hat clip, I used that feature a lot on my last light and don't know if I'm willing to give that up. Love the performance. "Floody" without a defined hotspot. Which I prefer for an EDC light. But for the money OLIGHT is asking at MSRP....on par with the Warrior Mini 2....It would have to be drastically discounted e.g. Black Friday Sale buy.....
1000 max lumens? Bit low for a light in 2022....or 2023 ....heh...even if most of us will only use Turbo (High) in short bursts anyway....once in a long while...I usually only use "firefly-MED modes. MOre "firefly/L"...
Bought a Baton 3 Pro in NW....if I buy an Arkfeld it would be the NW too...Odd Olight doesn't offer NW in all models.....W3s, S3 Pro.....4-5k, 90 plus CRI....etc. They Do want to stay competitive and keep making money....which they can't do if they continue to not offer NW/90 CRI lights....just relying on their rep...just like what Apple is doing (i.e...not really innovating anymore...but charging big $ and relying on their name)...

    It's a cool flashlight but..
Way too big for what it is. The tir doesn't even have the full clearance despite the overall size. It has a built-in, non replaceable battery. The laser could be installed instead of the proximity sensor on one of their other models which would make the whole flashlight smaller and compatible with their accessories. The butt is unnecessary wide to be compatible with their magnetic charger instead of having an USB port.
I would also integrate a mechanical lockout by making a step on the switch between the laser and flashlight position.
A better LED emitter would ve appreciated.
Hopefully they'll change it in the future.

Most flashlights don’t handle torture well. Most aren’t potted, and the driver might break on impact. Also, optics tend to shift and the beam suffers. In fact, simply dropping a flashlight from about 5’ on to concrete can usually be enough to crack the glass or severely deformed the bezel on most lights.

@@cheule its better to not have constant e-waste. If 1000 people buy this type of flashlight and end up throwing them out in 5 years... The manufacturer just made something that's garbage. Its just not garbage until the planned obsolescence is carried out.

Because of factors like ISO, exposure settings and even WB, video is always a relative thing. What I try to do it always use the same location (on my street for easy access) and compare against known quantities. In this case the D4SV2 and the DM1.12.
Truthfully, I actually feel the opposite anyhow. I feel it’s easy to make even a small light look like massive output when it’s pitch black out. But to fight street lamps really shows a flashlight’s power.
