I just received the cool white version in black. Man, I absolutely love it. I used to build lasers, so I really knew the other model wasn't worth it. No one would really use the laser for more than a total of 10 minutes max. The UV light on the other hand is extremely handy.

The clip and the larger base of the original is the reason I bought the stream light wedge. If it had a moonlight mode I’d never replace it as my daily. But this new UV is gonna replace my wedge!
Thank for the in depth review. I hit the purchase button yesterday on my first flashlight ever that costs more than 25 bucks and I woke up with a little buyers remorse. You've just justified my purchase lol. I do like the charging system. This means my kids wont steal the charging cable for other electronics. We are rockhounds as well so im super stoked to try the UV on minerals. Thumbs up

Great video, I learned a lot about UV flashlights. It would be interesting to know their performance in relation to activating/setting UV resins (as that use is what has brought me searching for UV flashlights).

I had no idea I had the new one. It's ny first flashlight ever! It is super nice.
I bought the first Arkfeld and I wear it 24x7. I put it in my pocket in the morning, put on my PJ's at night and it clips on them too. Its legit on my body from the time I get out of bed to right before I lay down at night. Its an amazing light!!!
Not sure how I feel about the UV version though. I personally find the lazer pointer to be pretty fun to use. I use it to point stuff out to my kids when they are having "kid vision" lol I'm not sure if I'd ever use the UV, hopefully they will make the same changes to the light/laser combo. That clip was the ONE gripe I had, really missed the dual clip which would be perfect for the Arkfeld.

The UV is super nice. I use it to charge glow in the dark stuff, clean my house, check hotel rooms, and the list goes on

I have mixed feelings about this light.
First, I commend Olight for listening to feedback and adding knurling to the sides. It’s exactly where/how I imagined they could improve the design. Disappointed that they didn’t add it under the clip, on the battery cover. This would aid in clip retention when working horizontally, thus preventing the light from sliding out a pocket due to the added friction of the knurling. Perhaps the new clip design helps with this, but personally I don’t see how it will. It’s still smooth metal pushing against smooth metal.
I’m glad they ditched the laser. The UV is a better, less niche, use case IMO. I still would like to see a red emitter version though. They could call it an “Arkfeld NV” for night vision.
The biggest gripe with the old Arkfeld is the non-serviceable battery. Unfortunately, this still went unchanged.
This light is a step in the right direction; however, I don’t feel it checked enough boxes in my improvements wishlist to entice me to upgrade to this new model.
The un-serviceable battery is the biggest drawback for me.
You make good points. Adding grip under the clip would be a good idea. I do think this new clip is better though. But I don’t have such a frenetic day job where even the old Arkfeld came loose. So maybe you’re use case demands more. I have learned over the years that sub lumen white light preserves scotopic vision just as well as red light does. So for me, red secondaries would be less useful than UV.
Just an update, I did try the new Arkfeld UV. I wanted to add that I am impressed with the improvements addressing grip and clip retention. While I do still feel there is room for improvement as mentioned in my OP, the changes are so good that I would carry this with confidence now. Kudos to Olight on that aspect of the redesign.
@@cheule sub lumen light and red light isn't the same. Moonlight mode may prevent loss of adaptation to darkness but doesn't illuminate almost anything. Strong red light can illuminate much more, it doesn't attract insects and some animals like rabbits and deers are red colour blind.
You are absolutely not "outdoor" person.
They need to give this to the warrior mini, take out that proximity sensor, out a laser or UV in there
I honestly would like Olight to bring out a UV/Laser version. I would get a lot of use out of that light. Excellent commentary and video as always.

Interesting! For me, having a white light will always be #1, but I wouldn’t mind a slightly larger light with white / UV / laser.

To anyone hoping to get a Arkfeld UV NW in one of the bundles it's worth contacting support about it. I've mentioned this in replies and told friends about this. Customer support has had their warehouse staff switch out a different light with a NW emitter in my bundles before.
Just make sure to let them know before you place your order or afterwards. They have been able to switch it out before shipping. Obviously you won't be able to get a possibly more expensive option in exchange.
It's worth the try and my experiences with Olight has always ended up with them being highly accommodating.

There's a higher chance of them suggesting swapping the light after it arrives. They request for you to send the flashlight back for an exchange. Take everything I say with a grain of salt. Be polite when you open a ticket if you intend to do this. Sorry if this misled anyone. Regardless their CS team in my experience is fast and courteous. Maybe I was a little hasty posting about this, however asking doesn't hurt.
Also as Cheule pointed out, there are some bundles that do include the NW Emitter!

How does the uv compare to the i5t uv?
I missed out on their last UV light. I put in requests for them to release a new one and here we are. I am definitely going to get one with a bundle.
Have yet to decide on the Orange + Gober or the Green + i3T Plus. Either are good options. I could use more gobers though.
The other thing is that the Array 2 Pro is on sale again... I don't have a headlamp. I'm a bit skeptical to get one because of the gesture control, I'm afraid it will change modes when I reach up above my head to grab something or working with my hands in front of it.
I'm planning on picking one of these up when they release, but I wanted your thoughts on CW vs NW. I know previously you said you prefer the neutral and typically so do I. However the bundle is only coming with cool white, and arkfeld uv + baton 3 for $95 is very enticing.
I vastly prefer CCTs closer to 4000K, but that’s just personal taste. Enthusiasts tend to favor warm color temperatures, but people in general vastly prefer cool temperatures. So I don’t judge!
You might be able to get Customer Support to do an exchange for NW Arkfeld UV with that bundle. When I ordered a Purple Baton 3 Pro with a Gober kit it was only bundled with CW. I politely asked Customer support before it shipped and they let their guys know to ship me a NW.
Even if aren't able to help you it's worth trying. They've always treated me very well.

Enthusiasts are generally more educated in their niche...that explains it all! My winter S1R II is still king...just hesitant to carry it daily because nothing comes close to it and I'm afraid I'll lose it. I'm glad to see that they're offering some warmer lights these days.

Is the clip interchangeable with the old light 🤔 love my old ark use it every day put a piece of paracord on under the clip for more ease of getting it out of my pocket
It is not, the screw holes re a different spacing.
I really like that the bezel is glass, and that the vis has more flood, really a good match with the hat clip on low mode! I'm sold. Anyone know if its safe to put the tail end of this in your mouth if you have to?

But you missed an annoying issue of the old and new Arkfeld:
At battery levels below 75-70%, the light suddenly (and harshly!) disables the "turbo" brightness!
Since the internal battery is merely about 1000mAh, you'll run into this problem pretty quickly - and get stuck at a rather flimsy 300 lumens
(In fact, many Olight models with a multi-segement battery indicator seem to have this issue: Warrior3, Warrior3S, Seeker3 Pro, etc.).
I have three Arkfeld lights in front of me, all are 2-3 lights out of four at the moment. All of them still turbo-I just tried. 🤷

@@Nathan49k Have you measured the cell voltage? Many users reported that somewhere below 3,9V-3,8V their tail-switch became practically useless: Turbo instantly falls-back to High = 800 Lumen (The M2R-Pro allowed Turbo for much lower voltages / longer runtimes)
@@patj462 I'll check it out, I may have not noticed. I do believe that another view of the manual is in order. Another thing to note is that the tail cap is a royal pain in the ass due to metal debris being caught in the switch. I'm honestly not a fan of the tailcap design. IT WILL short your light out if the debris builds up too much.
I love the Warrior 3S but I am not blind to some of the massive issues. The lens protector is definitely prone to scuffs and my sheath was digging into it, this makes the proximity sensor rather unreliable.
Thankfully there are way less issues with the 3S as opposed to the 3.
Interesting. I learned a lot about UV torches. What's the run time on the 1000 lumens, other settings and moonlight. This is important for me when I'm out and about. Thanks
The 1,000 lumens is a turbo mode, meant to be used sparingly. The high mode will operate for over two hours.

I don't know how much pull you have with Olight, but if you could get them to do combos with the NW versions I would definitely pick one up.
I will mention it to them. I know that all companies, even resellers like Jackson Lee Hawaii tell me that CW outsells NW by 5:1. Which is a disheartening fact. But I’ll definitely pass it on.

Maybe there’s an engineering problem if they try to put the charging disc on the side instead of the tail. I just think it would’ve been so much more slick if it was completely one nice smooth rectangle instead of having that lump at the end. And I still can’t do it, so I still haven’t bought one. If they make one that’s completely symmetrical with a charging disc on the side or even a charging port for that matter and they have the laser I’ll buy it. Better yet why don’t they just make one with a laser a UV light and a regular flashlight and then I’ll definitely buy it in the matter how ugly it looks😂
Great review with a lot of useful information. The only thing that keeps me from buying it is that stupid magnet charger. It fine for a specialty light but for a flashlight that advertises itself as a edc flashlight it worthless if you can't charge it on the go without carrying a special charging cord. Come on olight usb won the charging wars even apple is begging to realize that. Having anything other than a usb c charger is like have a betamax in the 80s

ig there is one flashlight i regret buying in my life and especially from olight is the arkfeld. it is so so bad on every aspect. when i received it i was really shocked. i woulds not pay 30 dollars for it. let alone 100... Olight is great but they missed completely on this one.

Nooo! That's a downgrade on the pocket clip. Never, _ever_ should there be proud, exposed, screws in the path of the pocket seam. That's going to tear up fabric and ruin pants. Dumb, dumb, dumb design. I know tons of other companies do that but they are all wrong for doing it that way. Countersink those screw heads and pocket clip. Gear should not be fighting wardrobe. A rare build quality misstep by Olight.
Pocket clip is a full stop no-go for me. Otherwise, a UV light is a great upgrade/change from a laser.

Very low, this is a floody light, and even floodier than it’s predecessor.
