  • This is a field test of the Arkfeld UV flashlight from OLIGHT. Since much is already known about the Arkfeld, the review is heavily focused on beam shots, both CW and UV. Indoor use cases for UV are well documented and advertised online. This review was filmed at the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, Texas and illustrates outdoor applications of UV.
I use both low-lumen (soft) white light and UV in tracking in wilderness Search and Rescue. Having both available in one light is of great personal interest.
NOTE: The CW version of the Arkefeld UV is shown in this video.
If you are interested in just the UV shots, scrub ahead to 08:53.

08:53 is where the UV tests begin if that's what you came for an you are already familiar with the Arkfeld in general. Enjoy!

The Scorpion was amazing. Were any snakes out?

I only saw a small copperhead, which was a bit disappointing given the warm temps on this night. He was on a dirt trail off to my left and slithered off into the grass before I could get a camera on him. The worst parts of the path are the dark asphalt patches. They hold heat longer and are dark, making snakes even harder to see if you don't have some light on your path.

Outdoors, I'd say you want to think of this as inside of ten yards and that's for detection. You would have to be closer for identification. If you want more punch, consider the Seeker 4 Mini. Check the shorts section of this channel. Thanks.
