Even more down the iceberg was the fact that the French had been promised another spot by Genesis 8 staff but when they arrived, the event staff had forgotten them, so they managed to get a full stream set up anyway from BestBuy and some PC location stuff in only 1 day and were given this dark spot at the back of the event area. It wasn't even on purpose 🤣🤣🤣
The computer and screen were from the pre-local venue lmao

If anyone is interested, the same french guy that made the docs about the 5 god's of melee is currently realising one about the french side of Genesis 8, but idk if there are subtitles. Part 1 and 2 are out and the last one is out soon. Anyway as someone who missed Genesis this was great
Another thing to note is that he's not French, he's from Swiss
He became known for being part of a French-speaking team of RUclipsrs which he quitted 4~5 years ago (I can't recall)
His videos are cool, I recommend to watch it, and if you have similar content in other languages I'm interested

Indeed. The main exception for when it’s acceptable is if the vendor hall already has signs or stuff to warn you before you go in that NSFW stuff may be displayed. It sounds like that wasn’t the case at this place tho so yeah it should’ve been kept in a binder

Okay for the first tweet about melee, as someone who has played Melee and has had a competitive puff as like a tertiary character, I can play whenever I'm losing, the guy is right. Coney is right. It's supposed to throw people off, it's supposed to tilt them, and it's supposed to get them frustrated so it can open up. Up opportunities for players who may be are a little less skilled to take advantage of people who are off of their game. When there is a character that people hate, they play worse against it and it's a cyclical cycle that only helps the person playing the character everyone hates! That is the reason why I have loved hungry box since he started playing! He literally found an IRL stun lock of behavioral patterns and used that s*** to his advantage to be one of the greatest melee players of all time!!!

From what I heard from my homies who went to Genesis, one French guy said “France is making Reno (my hometown) it’s BITCH” in broken English after Flow beat our best player, MFA.
Also, one of our guys was sucked to the French dimension himself and when he played on stream he used the tag “Reno!” because you know hometown pride and such. Well, turns out if you interpret the ! as an I, it is the French N-word… now France thinks he’s a racist lmaooooo

Have only been to 3 Ultimate locals so far, I went 0-2 at all of them… but I’m enjoying them more compared to the 2 dorm tourneys I went to for Sm4sh and the beginning of Ultimate. I’m happy that tourneys have a chance to return, I’m not sure how long of a shelf life either game will still have based on the way the communities and overall FGC will go, but people having a safe environment to play games they enjoy together honestly adds a lot to the community.
Anyway, I’m going to another tourney Sunday, let’s see if I can actually take somebody down this time 😅

This is one of my favorite sets in smash bros history cuz it shows that literally almost any character can play campy and defensive in a lame way. It's not strictly puff or even melee. Literally anyone in smash can do it. We just choose to approach.

As a SJ local, La Vics is some of the best drunk food you can get downtown. The lengua is fire and their orange sauce is legendary
Also if you're ever here and want the bacon wrapped dogs, 1 there are tons. Check their grill, some clean them better than others, and 2 make sure to get jalapeños

Beef tongue is a thing in a bunch of culture's foods, not just spanish cuisine. Jewish delis almost always have beef tongue as cold cuts and it's INCREDIBLE. Probably my favorite food, definitely my favorite deli food.

But the puff discourse isn't "puff slow=bad" it's "puff creates matchups truly unwinnable if they feel like it"

Just play a different character then. I'm not saying that to be an asshole and just say a 5 word solution, genuinely just don't play those matchups. The lower you go on the tierlist, naturally the worse your matchups will be.

I was walking from my air bnb back to the top 8 venue watching the set on my phone, and it's like a mile or a mile and half, and the set didn't even end yet when I got to the venue lmao, that was just game 1 and 2
