- It's a big day in the Project 425 workshop, John heads to the Ducati factory to do a bit of research and Dan wants to hear the bike run before he starts stripping. Hang on until the end, worth hearing.

It's nice knowing the backstory of the bike... It really does put life in perspective and makes me consider getting one of my coveted bikes because life is short; however, it can be shorter than we could imagine wanting to know!

I was always told to pre-fill the oil filter a bit , but each to their own !

So, your bike 425 has the track only front fairing on it that doesn't have headlights. Are you going to get the street legal front fairing?
You need the rear fairing also for the street. Did you get those?

Anyone else use the used oil on the filter seal? Theory is it's the carbon in the oil that keeps it from sticking. Pro tip from master cert tech for bmw.

What happened?
Nothing, we've been busy with new bike launches and Dan's been riding on track in Spain. It's coming.
Worst thing that can ever happen to motorcycles....... just sitting unused for years. Stuff just rots, dries out, rusts, tarnishes, gels, oxidizes, acidifies, collects moisture, cracks, and sags.
To every vehicle in general and yet for some reason people covet these barn finds.

Used bikes are great, or can be. Some take a lot of love to get them back on the road in trustworthy condition.
I have a rather keen interest in a late 90's ZX-11 at some point, but I just don't have the facility or space right now to tackle a project.
@@exothermal.sprocket I wouldn't mind trying to get a kx125 or 250 and have a go referbing one of them... they seem fairly straight forward so should be a good place for myself to start

Very nice sound! Whenever I change the oil, whether it's to my cars, bike or lawn mower I always fill the canister with fresh oil before putting it on . This means that the oil pump doesn't have to fill the canister before it gets to the bearings, which is very important with an engine that is dry from sitting for so long. The oil doesn't drip out of the canister if its a horizontal fitment because of all the valving but there is no need to hang about when spinning it on. Filling the canister doesn't cost anything and may just save that metal to metal rub. You can see how effective it is since the oil light goes out much quicker than with the dry canister.
No belts to change every 2 years.
