"I had a couple of wires the wrong way round, I am only human.." Top respect to the bloke. If that was discovery channel it would have fired up first time and farted rainbows instead of flames to protect "reputation" even though it was the 50th attempr in 3 days. Good to see actual real world mechanics at play here. For all the nay sayers, ask them how many Desmo top ends they took appart, or top ends, or done valve timings etc etc. Answer will prolly be none!. Can't wait for next video, my bikes in next town so can't get to it so I'm livig mt fetteling dreams vicariously through vids like this! All the best guys.
I was going to write exactly the same thing.. Dan is only human and now one is perfect but by God he got it all back together and got it running which deserves a 10 out of 10! I know the bike was purchased through probate but would love to know who owned it.. that sticker on the tail "Regione Emilia Romagna" are pretty hard to come by and pretty odd to have it on a bike unless it was in a exhibition over here in the land of pasta.
Funny thing about your rebuild series is that in the beginning the desmo was in the centre of attention. But as the series went along, the mecanic (for me at least) moved to the front. I think it’s because of his charme and charakter. I would love to see him restore other bikes in the future.
I watched from the beginning, not knowing anything about these bikes, or even having ridden a motorbike. Completely engaging and the skill to rebuild is just inspiring. Can't wait to see it move.
I got to enjoy the end of this one with everyone else, it sounds beautiful at home. Top work, Daniel. Hope everyone is getting through lockdown okay, hopefully it won’t be too long before we’re back at it.
I don’t know what it is, and perhaps that’s a good thing otherwise it might be too easy for others to replicate. These clips are everyone, completely engaging. A perfect balance of all ingredients. Round of applause to the photographer, editor and you both for your chemistry. I’m biased being fortunate enough to own two Ducati but I think it goes beyond that. Designer approved.
@@sudds750 It was right at the beginning of the virus Chris, it is obvious because John wasn't there for the second part of the filming. You're barking up the wrong tree mate!
Bloody brilliant,, not a lot of mechanics would have the chance to take a desmodecci apart let alone strip the motor,, unless you are a ducati tec,, Dan well done that man waited ages for this to be done,, thank you for the video awesome viewing with one of the best bikes ever built 😁😁😁🏍️🏍️🍀🍀🍀fantastic thanks again 👍👍👍
What an amazing gift! Makes lock down and being unable to ride my bike, a tad more bearable. Thanks chaps, another amazing video, great work by Dan once again and why god; that bike sounds incredible!
Absolutely brilliant, I know the bike got stick for not making massive power but honestly even Dan who works on everything got a bit dizzy hitting that start button, I'll never have one of These so heartfelt thanks for doing this and showing us inside it , next best thing to me , your man is lovely humble excellent mechanic , just listen to that motor .
Great to see & hear it fired up - looks awesome, I want it ! So easy to make tiny errors re-connecting things, I once bought a non-runner for peanuts from a mechanic as a track bike project - found a connector pushed in the wrong way, turned it the right way and it started first touch ! We are all human.
I remember watching the first episode of this and not being able to finish it so I put it on Watch Later, only after having acquired my first Ducati, a 999. For the last year myself it feels like I've been restoring it back to running condition and just last week was the final day everything went back together and it was able to be taken out for a ride. Came back inside and found part 1 and I haven't gotten out of my chair since finishing this one. Congrats to finishing this build up and I'm really interested to see what the plans are going forwards for it. I might not be able to get to own a Desmo one day, but getting the 999 has given me the itch to now try out what the V4 is like. With the Panigale having a V4, the Streetfighter making a return with a V4, the Multistrada in testing with a V4, my hope is maybe, just maybe a Monster rolls around with a V4 and that'll be pure bliss I think.
Dan says he is only human; I disagree; he took a Desmosedici to bits and put it back together again, and it worked. That is more than human; well done.
thank you so much for this boys , its been fantastic to watch . even though i am now beside myself that i have been cleaning my brake's with brake cleaner for years !!! who knew !! thanks
Fantastic rebuild series lads. Great to hear the roar of the Desmo but a little disappointed not to see any pot noodle quaffing in this episode - step it up! :)
I don't even know how long I've been subscribed, but somehow this project series has just slipped past me somehow. So glad it did though, caught up at the perfect time and watched the lot over the past couple of days, awesome project 👍
love your strip down of desmo ,make sure you replace the clutch slave cylinder or really check it out as your first ride could end in disaster . the slave cylinder has a problem of failing or boiling preventing the clutch to disengage it happened to me and i thought it was a bleed problem ,turns out it is quite common not only on your bike but 1098 up, cant wait for no 12 good luck.
Great to see all the smoke from the exhaust. Sometimes I wonder if mine smokes excessively, nope. Haha. Par for the course with a D16. I assume you’ll have another episode of it all done and on the road. Hopefully you do some episodes in the future just putting miles on it.
Yes! Almost done. Dan's RSV4 looks tight (would be cool to see a vid on his bike :) wondering what mods are on the ape) That ZX7R would be perfect for the next series. Stay safe Dan and everyone at Bike World!
Oh Hellz yeah!! New D16 episode!! Also, you guys have to ask Pot Noodles for a sponsorship. I live in California and ordered Pot Noodles from the U.K. because of you two. Haha.
What a treat! Great to see and hear that beauty, back on her wheels and running. The video doesn’t do the exhaust note full justice, but it is exciting nonetheless!
This has been a fantastic series, I’ve really enjoyed it! Two questions.....how much did the recommission cost and what will you do with the Desmo now?
Just sat and watched this entire series. Absolutely great work and really enjoyed the lot. One thing I must be missing is that these are meant to be road bikes, yet this one has no lights, mirrors etc... So were some of them delivered in track only spec??
Thanks for watching Steve, these are the track panels, it will be going back to road spec. You can see a couple of pics on our facebook page: facebook.com/bikechannel
I've been enjoying these episodes, though the time between them is too long. :) Why did you go for OE tires? They weren't great when the bike was first introduced and tires have gotten so much better in the 12 years since. Sure, it would mean $ourcing a $eventeen inch rear wheel, but so worth it.

Just what lockdown ordered - off to get a cup of tea and settle down to watch this......

Congrats guys! Best rebuild series on youtube. Haven't missed an episode.
Thanks for the support Philip.

I owned a ZX7RR. Green with the single seat, purple tail piece. Loved that bike
Wow that rumble is just glorious
Hearing that motor start up after so long was orgasmic. Great job guys and thank you for the lovely entertainment!!!
Best sounding street bike ever made! Ducati #1!

I was a tech for Ducati for 4 years, had to fit many of the termi gp exhausts to these. I must say the stock exhaust sounds soo much better
Disagree mate. The GP exhaust system on song sounds awesome where the standard exhaust was to quiet & the alternative supplied system was raucous

One vote for a restomod on the ZX7R! great idea
Man I want a Desmo so badly!
They are sexy. But ridiculously expensive.
If not mistaken these rubber are 16.5. Just wonder are they still manufacture 16.5 inch rubber?

There can't be to many rear new tyres left for this bike left in the world.
