I was in my 40’s in the illuminated 90’s. In her concert in ‘94, I see some faces that were my age along with genX faces. Hope is universally a v bright ⭐️
I just discovered Mazzy Star and Hope Sandoval a couple years ago when I was 61. Like you, better late than never! What really irks me is that I knew of Mazzy Star back when their "Fade Into You" was on constant playback on every pop FM radio station in America. Back in those days, I foolishly thought if you heard a band on pop radio, it must have been crap. Now that I've started listening to their other music, the music that wasn't bland or insipid enough to be aired on pop radio (none of MS' music could ever be considered bland or insipid), I realized I WAS hearing their music....from a little-known indie radio station, WHFS, which transmitted out of a low-power station over in Annapolis, MD. What wonderful music. I listen to just a few bars and suddenly it's early 90's again and I'm rocketing down Route 50 at 2AM on a torpid summer's night with a full head of hair, windows down, WHFS music blaring, in a swirling vortex of wind and sound, lost in music's wondrous magic with a beautiful blonde ballerina by my side.
Hey, Charlie me 2… @73yo discovered shoegaze genre a couple of years ago. And Mazzy w/Hope is awesome and this band is great. Takes me back to the 60z jambands like Traffic and Pink Floyd and cream. Teach this old dog new trix ❤🎉😅😊
Laugh at me but I just discovered hope about 6 months ago even tho I'm 63... about 6 years older then her.i love fade to you and listen to it every day... I'm so impressed her voice is just as good as mid 90s and she still is gorgeous...what I would give to be able to sit and talk with her for an hour... I'm also a introvert...I could fall in love with her real fast
I wouldn't laugh at you I am 65 and just discovered Hope and Mazzy Star less than a month ago. And have been obsessed ever since. I listen to Into Dust every day. Especially like the MTV video of it in the blue light. Hope and David were such a great musical match. I love Hope already! Whether in the 90's or like this still performing with David.
@@jackwalker1822 only discovered by chance, the BBC had a mini series'The English' and used Dust in one of the episodes....the journey and education never ends!
The words don't exist to express how hard I fell for Hope in the nineties. I already had a thing for short brunettes, but my lord, she was such an angel. I've seen her live probably a dozen times over the years, and every time, my heart still flutters when she takes the stage. It keeps me sorta young...
No one ever sings harmony with Hope. She is in her own parallel universe or something and it would ruin it. She still has it! Wonderful. I think the sound is fine.
Discussed jazzy star in 1994. 56 now. I proud to say I known of this cool music a long time. Seen them live in 2013. Now a certain member has passed. I am glad I got to see them
Turned 24 just over 2 weeks ago and would never have associated myself with this genre music. Not to spite it at all, it’s only because I’ve ever been exposed to it; throughout my life, I gravitated towards rap, hip-hop, jazz-soul, R&B, and afrobeats. However, Hope has undeniably introduced me to a new found love for her music and Mazzy Star. Her voice is Ethereally profound in such a way that captivates you, almost as if I’m time travelling in cloud 9. There’s this indescribable euphoria I feel since I’ve come across her voice. One thing that has become apparent to me is if it wasn’t for my love for Rick and Morty, I would never know about them. It seems as though Mazzy Star, Hope Sandoval primarily, didn’t really market themselves as overtly as many bands/artists alike as you would presume in such industry like that of music. I think it creates a massive disconnect with fans, but even more so for new listeners. That’s not a slight though, more of a compliment than anything; it shows that even in spite of those marketing flaws, they were still critically acclaimed. I’m used to just being able to follow artists/ bands via social media so there’s consistent exposure to their music, tours, albums, and everything affiliated with them. For the very minute sample size I know of Mazzy star following some of my research, it’s absurd to me that they’re not spoken in the same breadth as many groups of the same era. I have started putting together a playlist of the band entire discography, as with Hope’s too on Spotify - however, it would’ve been nice if she was active on social media as it helps to streamline awareness.
To sell out as an artist, or to generally suck, it's manufactured to make a buck, or pandering to trends, so it's aligned with true artistry, not gimmicks
Not the ones worth reading. She got several raving reviews in musicians magazines (the only once worth reading indeed). She played in the dark because she was shy about herself. And didn't want to distract with her appearance. A mission destined to fail.
I wish I could play lead as good as David. I would love to able to perform with Mazzy Star. That would be a dream come true.. I've only been playing guitar for a year.
I really love this band. Despite the unattended acoustic guitar mic that didn't get turned off and generated the feedback on Lay Myself Down. A splendid performance for Spain.
Hope Sandoval is always the best vocalist ever, David Roback was a genius musical artist, the other musicians are just sublime and Hermesacat is the best proponent of all of their music, the lengths that he goes to to are simply astonishing ... they never taught us in school that the full line-up for the Doors of Perception included Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, John Densmore, Lou Reed, Kendra Smith, David Roback, Hope Sandoval, Sylvia Gomez, Suzi Ewers, Colm Ó Cíosóig and so many other amazing artists .. why not? ;-)
Note: As of June 9, 2019, I have a higher image quality 845 x 480p (vs. this 649 x 360p one) repaired version of this same video upped to my other yt Channel, here: ruclips.net/video/vQzu_ZaZNb0/видео.html . I say it's repaired 'cause prior to June 9 the audio and video images were slightly out-of-synch on the 480p one. I repaired that problem. The version now up at my other yt channel is the best one now, imo, better than this one.
Sounds great, Considering how shy Hope is... it's amusing when a voice from the crowd apparently got her response of 'can't hear you; Anyway, of note... Winter 2012 was the year of SuperSandy storm and benefit concert, aired on Palladia, later to be MTV Live, the concert was unedited when shown originally
Love to see her sing with all the confidence she gained through experience and life. If I were asked (High Fidelity style) to name the 5 best singers of the 90th, she would be number one (before Kelli Ali, Bjork, Dolores o.Riorden and Shirley Manson). But since these lists are highly subjective, I probably tell Nick Hornsby to go fishing 😂.
dear Hope, stars are suns like our very own one and they are really quite hot burning at about 27 million degrees Fahrenheit (15 million degrees Celsius), they are not so quite so cold Look on down from the bridge There's still fountains down there Look on down from the bridge It's still raining, up here Everybody seems so far away from me Everybody just wants to be free Look away from the sky It's no different when you're leaving home I can't be the same thing to you now I'm just gone, just gone How could I say goodbye How could I say goodbye Goodbye Maybe I'll just place my hands over you And close my eyes real tight There's a light in your eyes And you know, yeah, you know Look on down from the bridge I'm still waiting for you
😮And me, l discovered Mazzy star last year, 2023...at 76 '!! Late but better than never... From France.

The way Hope allows her voice slip slightly above and below the notes is outstanding! Always sounds like controlled loss of control, amazing!
What a great way to describe it!

cool ! yea I understand lol
Same, Hope is love
Hope Sandoval at 55 yo still look amazing ! Her Angel voice will never fade out !
She was born in 1966, so she's a few weeks shy of 46 in the video from 2012.
This over 10 years ago, her partner Dave died but an Austrialian tour interview included them both, from 2017 or so
No one ever sings harmony with Hope. She is in her own parallel universe or something and it would ruin it. She still has it! Wonderful. I think the sound is fine.
I came here to listen to Hope's amazingly ethereal vocals. Not disappointed.
Wow she sounds the same as back in the 90’s when she was younger amazing
That's what I said... amazing

My god she still got it! The maturity in her voice is quite visible but god she still sound the same somehow
For sure, seems like she takes care of herself physically and spiritually.
The band did okay with Fade Into You, but nothing like Mazzy Star band in 90’s. But that’s how it is. Appreciate this upload, thank you.
She is so good and what a beautiful voice.
Damn, she's beautiful, her soul shines through still to this day.

Despite the quality of this video this band is sooo good, and most definitely Hope Sandoval has an amazing voice!!!
It is new for me... and I am in love!!! Xxxx
Critics ate her alive for playing in the dark

Fade into you is the most beautiful song in the world
Hope was still beautiful when this video was made in 2012.
She's aging gracefully. Her voice is still just as beautiful. She's gifted.
Awesome music, very clear by the lighting the whole band are non-egos, I love that
sharp observation...I love that too...too many big egos in the music world already
An immortal angel in a timeless parallel.
Her voice has even gotten better.
@@susanprincell7225 I don’t hear that

WOW, Listening to this after all have passed away in her life. she sounds depleted of her heart felt sound. So sad.

The Cure were one of the best bands I ever saw live. Pitch perfect, every song done just right. Played for a couple of hours and never faltered.
Just thinking that. What a show it would be.
Why ?
Hope Sandoval is 55 and still a amazing singer
She was 46 in 2012.. she’s soon to be 58 on 24 June ‘24. I see you wrote this 2 years ago according to yt. Has she performed recently ?
when you think about it, this is some really tripped out music...
Love it!
