- With Hope on MTV in 1994. Hope inevitably reminding us of the death last year of our dear friend David Roback. Here's Hope's message to David. www.hopesandova...
Please come back when the hour is sound.
Thanks everyone for your mostly kind comments and mostly about Hope. She is indeed special. Music music, to answer your question this song 29 years old, from our 1994 album Stoned and Dethroned. Again, thanks everyone. You'll find more of Hope's wonderful body of work here: www.hopesandoval.com/home.shtml
C'mon y'all must have expected this would happen. She is beautiful.
Interesting how my music tastes crossover.
Thank you for adding this- now we luv you even more 😘
I bought every Mazzy Star album looking for a track as good as this one, but never found it. Two and a half minutes of pop perfection. a 10/10 all day long.
I love dirty water and this
Just wow. That guitar lick is perfect and Hope's voice can take you to another planet. Thanks for this beautiful song. Two of the best minutes of my day every time I listen to it.
I always swore that I would never be one of those old folks that pined for the old days, but man, the 90s were pretty great.
"I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them"
80s were better.🎉
Right, the 80's were a blur but I miss them😅
early 80s and most of the 90s
@@Terry-ed1pi While I agree with you, there's no denying that the '90s had some highlights and that this performance is one of them.
I close my eyes and listen
oh 1990s you went away
but now you're back....kinda
i badly miss the 90s.. all the good music 😢😢😢😢
2021 and still crushin' on Hope! ha!
Always and forever! 🥰😍🥰😍
Came here to say the same thing
Get out of my head
Number 1 lifelong crush will never end.
You are not alone. :)
June 2024 and still listening to this gem of a tune. Hope's vocals send shivers down my spine
Sounds exactly like Isobel
My dad would play this song for me all the time. Tears and nostalgia 💞
Cool dad!!!
@@chrishrycyk5797 Lol, thanks Chris! Little victories in parenting...
@@chrishrycyk5797 People who listen to the jesus and marry chain are not cool we do our thing cool people listen to rap or what everyone listen to
Best dad!
@Rolando Manuel I'm listening to this to hear hopes voice again
The entire JAMC catalog is stellar, it sounds better than ever in 2023.
she's like a tiny angel ... without moving she has giant stage presence
I agree, and that voice transcends
well say
This is what music and underground mean to me. Im a big The Jesus & Mary Chain fan since Psycho Candy and a big Hope Sandoval fan since I heard Fade Into You for the first time. And they fit so perfectly together.
East Kilbride meets East Los Angeles 🇲🇽🏴
It’s an absolute masterpiece of song, match made in heaven. The coolest song ever.
Love your music and Hope is absolutely beautiful with a beautiful voice
perfection
Imma rebel just for kicks ya
I see Hope, I click and watch. Sounds great and the shyness is so mesmerizing.
Hey 90‘s, when will you come back? You‘re desperated needed here.
Hope is just unbelievably beautiful, and entrancing.
Indeed!
Indeed
Stunning!
and when i see those blue eyes from the Reid brothers my heart just melts lmao
Absolutely!
This is another song that I appreciate more as I get older. Just excellent.
I named my daughter Mazzy, she's the only thing that shines in my life, the only thing I did right. She keeps me alive. It's a daily fight, but I have to win for her. I little bit of Jesus and Mary Chain and Mazzy Star helps too.
Hey hey hey... that kind of talk scares me. You good? I'm genuinely asking... Lil' Mazzy needs you.
The Hope, Mary, & Jesus chain rocks! Thx y'all! More more more music like this~please?
It's so easy to fall in love with Hope.
😮
@D-jj5dy The Hope that is immortal which is the young version
She's clearly a real person, since she is aging. And there's nothing wrong with that. @@holysquire8989
This sounded awesome last night (Oct. 23, 2024) in Kansas City, MO with Frankie Rose. Great show with the Furs! Thanks!
Such a great song, , Hope sounds just beautiful in tune with the wonderful. JAMC such a great band ..both come together and its perfection.
Not heard this before, and I've seen the JAMC live in the 80s and bought their first few albums. You are never too old to learn something new.
This is surreal..a one of a kind collaboration
Not at collaboration at all. Not "surreal". Explain your stupid claims.
Hope Sandoval is just amazing.
Wow! What a combination! Seriously… Hope never ages! Great job you guys!
The day my mother passed on I had to have her body picked up and sent to the medical examiner, then the funeral home. She was only 68. My father and I got home really late. We had a Scotch and sat down to some MTV alternative late show. “Fade Into You” by Mazzy Star with Hope Sandoval came on and by the end of it we were crying. And crying is what we needed to do.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Fade into you is a relaxing, gut-punching, reminiscent, beautiful song that gets you in the feels, it’s what you needed to hear
This is a special song. Short and sublime.
And do we know she took him back? I think she didn't.
Wow !!! Unbelievable They both sing absolutely amazing 🥲
Still gives me all the feels! The perfect combination of artists and haunting vocals. Love you all!🖤
Beautiful, her and the song.
This whole video is a vibe. An evening with a few friends at the corner booth of your favorite dive bar.
I saw them together in Atlanta on this tour. What a SHOW! Loudest one I ever went to and it was amazing. Still love both bands, today.
Uhh..loudest? You listen to some pretty tame music😂😂 Cheers though, you have good musical taste at least😎
@@jbm0866 Actually I dont. I saw Ministry at a show where the cops almost shut them down for violating the noise ordinance. I was not the only one that said this show was extremely loud. It was an outdoor show which might have caused them to turn things up to 11 but yeah it was screaming.
@@gringofett3944 just kidding bro, but props on Ministry😎
@@jbm0866 No worries, I didnt take it seriously. I have to step back myself sometimes and go WOW, I cant believe it was that loud.
Great song. Love this performance.
Beautiful duet
.. Beautiful song
This is just a natural fusion. Love JAMC and hope to see you live again in Cologne one day. Best
Saw them (J&M Chain + Mazzy Star) touring back in the '90s in Colorado. So unusual, a completely lights-out, audience-quiet show with Mazzy Star (Hope Sandoval has bad stage fright?) followed by Jesus & Mary chain, with this song as an encore. Great show.
Wow lucky you
Stage fright....She’s a Junkie, wanting her next fix!!!
Junkies don't like bright lights.. It hurts..haha seriously
She walked off stage after 20 mins at a Mazzy Star gig in England around 1994. Poor girl . Hope she has learned to control it nearly 30 years later !
@@johnckeesing433 I haven't heard a braying donkey in a long time, until I saw your comment, then I remembered the sound that it makes 👍🏻
Amazing. I love JMC. With Mazzy Star/Hope Sandoval gaining some popularity with young music fans, I hope they don't miss this great song.
She has a voice that doesn't need any adornments whatsoever, like Liz Fraser. It's so gorgeous and coy, and she doesn't need to even hint at the kind of gymnastics that other female singers go through.
Oh, gee. Elizabeth Fraser and Hope Sandoval are amazing vocalists!
Miles better than all that and way cooler, songs are not about vocal acrobatics.
@@amelie5525 Thanks Amelie...my favourite too
Totally agree.
@@j.c985 or physical acrobats.😅
A superb collaboration. Cool video clip. Huge Mazzy Star fan.
One of my all time favorite songs ever! Hope simply nails this part.
She nails every part she takes. Pure, elegant, natural beauty.

This song brings back so many great memories.. 💛
I always thought i
I’d marry Hope. So beautiful. Thanks for the great music!!
30 years ago but it still doesn't get old
Hermoso tema gran trabajo de todos los músicos, y Hope es un Hada que canta, gracias por la música, saludos 🎵🎶🎵🧚
Wow! Two of my most favorite musical acts ever. Together. That’s what I’m talking about, yes !!!!!
Fantastic he Hahn Voice, love to see you live
Such a great song, always have been one of my favorites.
Thank you so much for posting this. Great song. Great band. Please keep making magic.
Changed my life when I heard that at first

Hell yeah the Chain w hope Sandoval remember hearing it first on Kacv fm.89.9 amarillo and feeling like it was 87 to 1992 all over again... Welcome to the FM 90s!!!#
I just love the conversation via the song, a story which has almost a sense of intimacy: Just so J.A.M.C.

Great song. Hope Sandoval is a siren! I love her voice! 💖
I know what you meant, but sirens were bad, their voices sucked men in to their deaths.
Hope calls us from a heavenly place, where peace and decency reign
I got my home Monica out just a little while ago here on Thanksgiving and for some reason I was thinking about back in the '90s when I got involved in your music and wow I've been thinking about you all day today on Thanksgiving wondering where you at how you doing and just really missing your music what's going on let me know something been missing you love you
Back when everybody else was into Gwen Stefani. This is who I was going to spend the rest of my life with.
This was in 94, 2 years before Gwen Stefani.
@tutsybassista this performance was in '94, our love is eternal
still love at first hear decades later. timeless
Not really a J&MC fan but came across this vid and absolutely love it.
I always loved this song
Excellent
Goodness.....Hope.;......just so ephemeral and charismatic and hot.....combined with the most underrated band in history in JAMC, and you have a killer little vid
Yep, 30 years later and still with the biggest crush on Hope.
Seeing Jesus w/ The Furs nxt week.
October 23, 2024.
Kansas City
I always admired her voice. And her
I saw JAMC live for the first time about a week ago. They're still a tour de force.
A nice pop collaboration. Thanks,
When MTV was about music. Strange times.
This looks like the SNL stage though
MTV plays music?
Movie High Fidelity mentioned Jesus and the Mary Chain last night so I DID intend to listen to them:) Hope Sandoval on my queue, recommendeds, Sped up the process to my FIRST song on the way to BOTH my jobs
Back when MTV was still watchable. It hasn't been for the last 25 years.
Hope Sandoval is unbelievably beautiful and what an a exquisite voice. Just love her!
Not anymore but this is the early 90s when she was in her 20s, she’s a minger now.
@@JaEDLancwell it has been a long time and she has aged your going to age too so don’t shame people for it
Holy good God almighty!!!! Where the heck was I when this happened?!?!?! I lived off of MTV when it was still music.
hope is just endlessly amazing
Ive been listening to mazzy star and hope for years but been too scaref to listen to jesus and the mary chain cos of the name. Irrational but there we go. So far so good. Need more hope
Why is that a scary name?
Love this, thank you Hope and gang!😎
How Absolutely Amazing is This. Absolutely Beautiful
This is like the Velvet Underground meets Leonard Cohen.
Can’t take my eyes off Hope Sandoval.
Dang! Forgot all about this amazing song! So happy to find it
Everything she does makes me feel alive ❤️
LUV IT! We drove to Houston TX in 1986 to witness the JAMC but the show was cancelled. :-(
OMG I was waiting for this! Thank U guys!
such a great song-
1994 was a great year for me and music. This is one of the highlights. Before the internet days it was impossible to find out much about Hope Sandoval. I was spellbound by her soon as I saw this video on MTV. Of course it helped that the song is excellent. But short. You couldn't go and put the kettle on when it came on because when you sat back down it had finished!!
How bout your crumpets mate?
even with the internet it’s hard to find out anything about Hope. I respect her wanting to be private but I wish I knew more about her
I recorded this off the TV when it aired and watched it so many times after!
Takes me back to July of 94. All messed up living in Vegas. Not a penny to my name but I had the JAMC. Crazy memories but wouldn’t change a thing.
This track was built on Sand. Back in the days when Lee Hazelwood was worshipped a lot. It was Rowland S. Howard and Lydia Lunch who started it all.
Speaking of Lee Hazelwood, I’ve been listening to Phil Schoenfelt recently and, man, there’s a lot of Hazelwood influence in those songs(though they’re not male-female duets like this).
Rowland really thought Hazelwood was one of the finest songwriters ever.
Aye,I'm not hearing Sand at all, why coz its a male female duet?
Check out Sand by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood. This was where the inspiration came from, I would suggest. A tribute to a genius songwriter. And to Nancy.
@@johnd4587 At least it was a natural thing to register back in 1994... random Google search... from The Independent, quote: ..Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval plays Nancy Sinatra to Jim (Reid's) Lee Hazlewood on the Sixtie's-summery Sometimes Always... end of quote. Meter for both songs is also the same.
Yes, I can definitely hear it. I'd never heard Sand before but there are definite similarities. I disagree with other commenters - it seems pretty clear. Not that it's stolen - the melody's mostly different - but I would put money on them having heard Sand and been thinking of it when they* wrote this.
*whoever wrote this - Sandoval and Reid, or just Reid, idk
I want more this ...
Queen of dream pop ,Hope you are amazing
Everyone's going to say Dream Pop, but Mazzy was really Psychedelic Rock/Folk. This sub has a really odd blindspot concerning anything psychedelic that is not shoegaze.
Colm may've contributed later (mostly with the Warm Inventions), but that doesn't put them in with shoegaze.
Hope out here SEDUCING EVERYONE with those eyes and that voice. It's not even fair, Hope.
Awww..brings back my amazing early 20's!!!
Yep This song brings back some forgotten memories
Never heard these before, but a Great show!
Charming Hope Sandoval and the incredible Jesus
Great song and best shoegaze ever! Even the singer was looking at them.
I'm glad YT recommended this song.
That's not Shoegaze mate 😂😂😂
Beautiful xx
The Last Realness Era....Before The Robots.......The Mighty Mazzy Star they Stand Alone, who was Greater in their Generation......Saw Mazzy Star and Jesus Mary Chain in Phila Pa Oct 1994 ..So Great....Godspeed David Roback ....Thank You 🔥♥️....Peace too All that Loves Him
I saw that JMC show too! The light show was insane!
My 30 year crush still going strong.
This is one of the coolest things I've seen
Ahh I was lucky to see them in Ybor with Mazzy Star. Back then you don't think it'll end but then its over quicker than you realize.
Love you, Hope❤
