- REPAIRED, IMPROVED (again). This is the third video version of this same show I've put on youtube, an improved version, best of the three, I hope, with audio and video images no longer out-of-synch. I repaired the out-of-synch audio/visuals problem of the prior upload.
Barcelona, Spain, Parc del Forum, May 31, 2012. The Primavera Sound Festival ran five days, Wednesday May 30 to Sunday June 3. Mazzy Star played just this one set.

My first upload of this show was a poorer definition version (640p X 360p) of the same video that was up on this Hermesacat yt channel for a year (I've since re-upped it to my secondary yt channel called Hermesacat2). That was the one I recorded myself in 2012 from the Primavera live stream.
My second upload here was a higher definition 854 X 480p version I'd forgotten about and belatedly found again on my computer in March, 2019, one a fan had shared via a fan group back in 2012. I'd credit them by name, except there's no name showing on the text doc accompanying the video.
But it turned out there was a small problem with the better image quality 480p version. The audio and video images were slightly out of synch. In this third upload, I've repaired the out-of-synch problem in this 854 X 480p version.
I first tried upping a recording of this same video to my yt Channel back in 2012 but Primavera Fest blocked it on yt. Luckily, I tried upping it again in April, 2018 'cause Primavera is claiming copyright (and ad revenue), but instead of blocking it is now allowing it on yt, finally. From April 2018 to March 2019, the version up on my yt channel here was a 640p X 360p quality file I myself recorded May 31, 2012 from the video live stream, using some free software I found. It was my first ever attempt at recording a live stream of a concert. Luckily, I was successful, but for some reason, I ended up with a file with lower video quality than I could have had.
My own original recording was slightly longer than the improved quality version 'cause mine included additional intro shots of the stage just before the band started playing, shot from a distance. And mine had a bit more of the pre-recorded intro music that played just before the band took the stage, plus had Hope greeting the crowd, saying "Hola." That short intro portion had unfortunately been edited out in the other version of the video by the person who shared it. Same thing with the end. My version contained a few extra after-set shots of the stage and the festival crowd.
Since I like the intro and outro shots I recorded that were missing from the otherwise improved version, I've retained those here by joining my short intro and outro portions to the improved version in a new edit. I converted my mediocre quality 640p X 360p intro and outro clips to "bogus" 854p X 480p size so I could include them in this improved 854p X 480p quality version of the video.

The performance of She Hangs Brightly on the sliding guitar instrument thingy gave me chills! That guy is amazing on his instruments! Watching Hope play that harmonica has an enchanting and surreal and supernatural quality. Heck, all the band members are superb! Great song and awesome concert in all! Hope puts hope and belief in obscure underground music that has that amazing dark magic and touch I love!

The person? A whole crew shot it. Primavera is a festival. The festival weekend of multiple bands was pro-shot videotaped by the festival and livestreamed online. This video is from the official livestream.
Definitely have a bit of a Doors influence in their sound...
If Hope could have mastered the jump and primal scream of Jim Morrison they could have been the Doors.

Great band but absolutely no connection with the paying audience. Unacceptable.
Performers need to bring the audience in and let them know they are appreciated and respected. Mazzy Star does neither. Such a shame for an amazing band. Terrible treatment of their fans.
Sorry, but the sync is still out. Correct by following the indivdual drummers visual hits with the sound. It' not far off, but still off. Really frustrating to watch as a drummer. Understand what an effort it is to put it all together, well done.
Forgot to mention at 20.00 mins and after is a good spot to rectify out of sync with the tom hits. Hope this helps.

Sorry, but the synch is still way off. (And the vocals are a bit flat, if you ask me.) But thanks for your effort!
I agree the synch is still off slightly (but not "way"). That's 'cause I was correcting by editing the video track (by adding or removing frames) to fit the audio track. Belatedly, I figured out I could do a more precise edit by editing the audio track to fit the video track instead, 'cause my audio editor will allow the tiniest snips of (or additions to) an audio track (multiple thousandths of a second in length), more precise than editing frames. One of my projects I hope to do some time before I die, is redo the synch correction. In the mean time, you can watch this same show in synch but with lower definition image quality (360p vs. 480p) at my other yt channel, here: ruclips.net/video/D0UVQc9c2BE/видео.html
I also agree Hope's singing here is not her best. Something was apparently ailing her voice during 2012. I've heard many live recordings of Mazzy Star from both 2012 and 2013. Hope's singing is better on EVERY 2013 show I've heard than on ANY 2012 show I've heard. But there's no pro-shot video of Mazzy Star in 2013 (except for one TV appearance of Mazzy doing one song on Jimmy Fallon's show, a video NBC won't allow on you tube), and none from their 2018 & 2019 shows. 2012's all we've got of their "comeback" years, pro-shot.
@@Bobjb999 Wow, sounds like a lot of work. The vocal synch seems ok. But it's easier to see the discrepancy on the drums. And yes, I'm sure Sandoval was just tired.
In my experience working with live streams of tons of shows. Never ever attempt to adjust any timing issues in the music audio. Always play with the video side of things (for music video at least). For anyone who doesn't appreciate how hard this is. If you ever audio record on one device but record video on another the ngs like different power sources will flex timing of both devices with subtle power surges. Its nuts. Stage light being.up and down will slow and speed recording slightly. House sound getting turned up will shift stuff. I learned this by having battery operated stuff placed next to plugged in other recording stuff that was on house power. It's nearly impossible to realize until too late.

She says, QUOTE: "Can't hear you." She says it in answer to something an audience member yells probably in Spanish, something I don't understand. But when audience members yell things like "The stage is too dark!" or "We can't see you!", she often replies with "I can't hear you."

I don't get it. After all these years, I finally thought to listen to Mazzy Star a few days ago (RUclips recommendations prompt). As with so many other highly-rated bands, I hear people vocalizing and playing instruments but I don't hear music. As I said, I don't get it.
