It's 2019, and I had the privilege of seeing them perform last night in Oakland, CA. This was the opener.... Transcendental and beautiful, timeless.... Beautiful music performed by introverts, for introverts.
I love the fact that they never stopped hanging out regularly and recording music together. Over all these years, but only for themselves. Those recordings are the biggest treasure on Earth if you ask me.
How true, never heard of Maisie star until a couple of months ago and they’ve been going all those years, and think of all the wasters and idiots you get on Britain’s got talent that make it through just miming or nicking other peoples songs, Hope Sandoval has got a lovely voice and what great lyrics

I just discovered the band, the songs, and i'm here laying on the floor listening to each song of the band and not wanting anything from this cruel life but my mental stability and my youth back, I felt so lucky to find this.
I'm right there with you, although it's not my youth but those times that I want back. Those times before the world imploded. It wasn't perfect but there was still space for peace. In our heads and in the world.
Hope Sandoval is an American icon. She always sings these songs where I can close my eyes and see myself driving an old convertible Pontiac, down a long, open desert highway. I’ve always been a fan of her work. Thanks Hope!
It's incredible when you realize she was already 30 years old at the time of this recording, and still she looked so much younger. Even nowadays, with 55, she still looks really young. Hope must be a vampire or some kind of immortal greek muse of music.
She's got those classic Latino beauty genes. She also wasn't the heroine chic type alot thought. She recorded till 2016. I wish she'd do more, with all the new intrest she'd do great

she's not thinking.. she's in a state of pure zen just observing the emotions. if she had one moment of thought during that performance there's no way it would've been expressed the way she expressed it..
yes thought does always occur.. but there are gaps. thought has to originate from somewhere and that particular 'somewhere' is not thought. practitioners of meditation are capable of extending the gaps. quite often individuals that have mastered some form of creativity, art, music or even sport have sometimes intentionally but more often than not, unintentionally learned to reduce the thought process during performance and allow the subconscious to gain more freedom. quite often it can be described as being in the zone, which enhances and promotes a flow state. if you closely observe Hope Sandoval in the above clip - it's like she's almost forgotten herself. there's barely a moment of self-consciousness. if she was 'thinking' then there would be no room for freedom of expression and the purity of her creativity and performance would be diminished..

Everything about her is drop dead gorgeous, but (as with nearly all particularly beautiful women) her best feature is indeed her eyes. I would rate her *the* most beautiful woman I have ever seen.
Especially considering she is very shy, even turned down an offer from Johnny Cash to sing with him because she didn't feel confident enough in her vocal abilities to share a stage with him...
@@mustangmikep51 Being introverted doesn't mean you hate social situations or being in public. It means you have a social battery that needs to be recharged. I think Ms Sandoval might have some sort of clinical social anxiety. Mazzy Star shows would always be held in dark venues, and Ms Sandoval would look down while singing.
I'm one year older then her. Dark times 30 years ago. Her voice made me want to live. 59 years old now. Jesus is the truth - the way - I pray she sees him too.
"I got just one thing I can't give you Just one more thing of mine" Never was there a more true word spoken or sung. This live version is much better than the album version, imo. Such a beautiful voice. So clear, so full of emotion, so peaceful. Such a beautiful song. Hope's shyness and her uncomfortableness on stage, in videos and in interviews only adds to the magic that radiates from her. In this day and age, it's so refreshing to see someone be authentic, remain true to their values (in Hope's case, letting the music do the talking, despite being very, very beautiful) and be successful without courting attention and without revealing/selling their private life. Kudos to you, Hope. You are an inspiration and a role model
This song is so true to life, with at hint of seduction. Her voice is like being next to the water so gentle. A summer breeze as the sun goes down. I listen to this song every night. Very beautiful!

Never heard of Mazzy Star before today. RIP David. I will never be the same. This music brings me joy with some sadness I dont know how to explain it. S Bishop I’ve seen her with her other band The Warm Inventions. It was an experience, if you get the chance please go. She sounds the same live. There was maybe 200 people at the show I went to, very intimate.
It's something amazing to experience music like this at that time. It was the time of "before" We were on the edge of the technology we have now. But it was before the instant everything. This song reminds me of a decade of face to face connections, live music venues without cell phones, I remember these concerts because you were in the moment. I miss those days of being awake. I know life progresses and I love alot of what we have now. But because I lived in the "before", I miss it. 🌃🎶
I've lived in the "before" time also and I remember the way it used to be...it was REAL....now everything seems, well...virtual and plastic...I was a "Flower child" of the 60's....and I guess I'm still a "Hippy" at heart...even now I'd like to share a quote from a pretty "smart guy from the "BEFORE" time...."I fear the day that technology will surpass our HUMAN interaction. The world will then have a generation of idiots" Albert Einstein nuff said...now go back to your "smart phones" people lol
This song is so emotional , it gets me every time she sings it especially with that emotion in her facial expression , I love Mazzy Star , Shes brilliant . Im 6 fot 2" and big strong build and this song turns me to mush . I love it , im going through a hard time in my life , feel strongly for someone , getting me in the heart strings .

This band was the best thing about the 1990s, and I was a headbanger.
.slowdive and Rachel Goswell from the 90's is worth checking out if you haven't heard them already
You must've not been big into Pantera then....
How about concrete blonde?
90's is grunge rock(\m/) and a bit of Jeff Buckley ...
Even mtalheads love Mazzy Star.
Such ethereal beauty.
True
This melancholy can't get more beautiful. Feels like a nostalgia for a person you've never known.
I feel that way often.
Hope Sandoval's hauntingly beautiful voice, and this song in particular, really succeed in capturing that emotion. Just one of the many reasons to love Mazzy Star 🌟
That haunting voice still melts your heart after all those years, where are you now Mazzy Star, you were a great band, the world needs you, it's been such a shit 2020.
Were all just passing through here..its not our true home..were here to live and learn about love..and then grow into what we are meant to become..divine beings of light...and were growing more than we realize ...every moment...every lifetime..till we need no more lessons Namaste.
She is someone you fall in love with in an instant. But it seems she didn't fall for anyone!! Where is she nowadays?!!
Wow she's absolutely gorgeous. Her voice, her style, her appearance. Far out..
She didn't show her face a lot when she performed. This is exceptional.
David Roback will surely be missed. The music lives on!
Amen
I love her voice makes me reflective and emotional love her stillnessxx
This video looks like it came out today.
Not at all.
It's really good quality for being from 96'. But today's quality is even better
@@skyeskelter I think it's not only about quality...
@@antaresstar2 Yeah, I know. I agree. I only said what I did in response to Hazel T's comment.
Actually yesterday!
She had beauty, a voice that haunts u long after the song is over. Music that put u at ease no matter how bad ur days going. Timeless like no other of this time. Guitar and harmonica and other instruments that carry u away, just a great combination. Wish there were more of the music like this.
You got this spot on❤
Her words are disarming stark and true
Probably the most captivating voice and subtlety yet strikingly beautiful person I've ever heard. Damn. Once in a lifetime voice. Under appreciated for sure
One of the most beautiful woman in the world inside and out, and I’m totally straight. She sings to my soul!!
Her shyness is her mystery....her voice is hipnotic....it's hard for one's heart ❤️ not to fall in love with her.....
*hypnotic
After 30 yrs I still watch her and the tears flow.shes the most beautiful person to ever live
I am a former combat medic. She speaks to me. I remember all the people lost in the sandbox.
Just came across Mazzy today. I’m hooked. She’s mesmerizing.
Mazzy Star is the band, Hope Sandoval is their singer, thought u might wanna know
Mazzy is the band, dumbass.
There are two kind of people on the internet
@@ignaciogodoy158 truly, the second kind being those who spread their own internal discontent externally.
@ghytgb Welcome to the club!
I was stunned by her beauty then and now.
She was so delicate in this video with the purest voice, face, and eyes. I could melt!
did you watch the 1994 shoreline live set?
@@silverace08 original version with good quality disapeared of youtube !
@@Liza33650 really, what is this one
ruclips.net/video/YV-m2CQNp90/видео.html (i guess it a recently reupload?) but the quality seems pretty good to me no.
no December is complete without this song.. im 39 now and been listening since I was 19.
-Dad why my sısters name Rose ?
-Because your mom love the roses
-Thank you dad
-No problem Mazzy Star - Flowers in December (Live on 2 Meter Sessions)
Lmao
lmfaoooooo
ah ah
HAHAHAH
gg
THE most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes on, and talented as well. My heart has stopped beating.
I could watch this all day long.
What about at night
When my time comes, and i am free to travel to the times in my life, i'm going back to float around this era. God bless the youthful Gen X'er era
her eyes... oh God... I can stare it for hours and trip through my inner pain ...
Everything about her is drop dead gorgeous, but (as with nearly all particularly beautiful women) her best feature is indeed her eyes.
I would rate her *the* most beautiful woman I have ever seen.
I love the harmonica
I always get the feeling it takes a tremendous amount of courage for her to stand up on stage and she does it beautifully anyway.
Especially considering she is very shy, even turned down an offer from Johnny Cash to sing with him because she didn't feel confident enough in her vocal abilities to share a stage with him...
its tough being an introvert...very limiting...but she does have some courage doesn't she? kudos to her
@@mustangmikep51 Carl Jung said the west is hell for the introvert....he wouldknow....he coined the term.
And maybe it didnt.
Love this person. She touched the human soul and never even knew it
That violin is just awesome in this version.
Thank you God, for sharing people like this with us.
wow so amazing
I'm one year older then her. Dark times 30 years ago. Her voice made me want to live. 59 years old now. Jesus is the truth - the way - I pray she sees him too.
Listening to her, she is giving me some unconditional love
there is something magical in this song
I play her Pandora music station at work overnight...I love it...gives this immense feeling of tranquility...anxieties soon melt away.
It's a band, not a female musician.
@@1985cactus you know what she meant ...
@@karinaserna2291 Well, yeah...
Jasmin Flowerz well said!
Just can't get enough
"I got just one thing I can't give you
Just one more thing of mine"
Never was there a more true word spoken or sung.
All the comments are right the most moving song I’ve heard for years, so so sad that half the band passed away so young, such talent compared to some of the crap that’s about today,Hope Sandoval beautiful enchanting and so talented a artist👍🏼
Nice writing, Les.
😮Why did I only now hear these songs and learn about this music group .I'm just in a pleasant shock, these songs will now be in my player! Keep the Ukrainian favorite and a piece of my heart ❤🇺🇦
In my 40s & just re discovered this lady's voice after first hearing her sing Fade into you in the 90s. As a fellow introvert, I recognized her beauty in so many ways. 1 of the most Highly underrated singers I've heard and stunning.
Hope is an angel
Her eyes!!!!
THIS GIRL IS MAGIC! One of a kind.
What is it about this woman. She is the definition of magnetism. ❤❤❤❤
Never heard of Mazzy Star before today. RIP David.
I will never be the same.
This music brings me joy with some sadness I dont know how to explain it.
I'm a metal fan but respect all music so when I found this guitarist had passed I wanted to honor him by listening to his music and now I want know why I didn't know about them. They are my age and I missed it. I hope to see Hope no pun intended. Please come to SouthTexas RGV.
I feel the exact same way. I'd never heard of their music before yesterday too!
S Bishop I’ve seen her with her other band The Warm Inventions. It was an experience, if you get the chance please go. She sounds the same live. There was maybe 200 people at the show I went to, very intimate.
Play every album, and play it in it's entirety. They're all great.
@@tannerannichiarico7255 Thanks I'll try
My how times flies. She’s still amazing
Mesmerizing voice, keep singing Hope Sandoval!! You are amazing!!
Mazzy Star’s music helped me heal a broken heart and renew my faith in humanity over the past year or two! Thanks 🙏
what a voice..
It's something amazing to experience music like this at that time. It was the time of "before"
We were on the edge of the technology we have now.
THE most calm person I have ever seen perform, stays with you forever
She's the most mysterious beauty I've ever seen
man i forgot how great this song is, hadnt heard it in years, maybe decades
This song is so emotional , it gets me every time she sings it especially with that emotion in her facial expression , I love Mazzy Star , Shes brilliant . Im 6 fot 2" and big strong build and this song turns me to mush . I love it , im going through a hard time in my life , feel strongly for someone , getting me in the heart strings .
Meeee too....
Mazzy Star is Magic ! Completely magic. They have poetry, sensibility, spirituality, melody, that lovely voice. They are magic!!!
So glad I have found this wonderful artist
that's how I feel right now
I fell in love first time i heard her voice
I'm just....im just speechless...I could listen to her sing all day!
Hope. My little Mexican songbird. Your voice is a salve to this man’s tortured soul. You have the most beautiful, enchanting voice I’ve ever heard. Your an angel on earth my sweet lady.
People forgot how good Hope was and still is! Amazing writing and song
