- I made it a point to make some time to do a few things for myself and for our home the past couple of weeks. We've been a bit busy working on smaller projects around our Colonial home in New England home, removing the shutters and shutter dogs and trimming the boxwood trees. I feel these small exterior home changes have made a big impact visually. We will also be going on a couple of out and about trips to a local farmer's market and to Peterborough, New Hampshire.

Definitely, no shutters is the way to go on your home. A Cape style home has so much charm, the shutters just take away from its humble style. I have a cape that we have owned for over 40 years and I've gone thru SEVERAL transformations over the years. I decided last year to do away with the shutters too, and I'm so glad I did!!🏠🏠🏠

Lily Of The Valley is my favorite flower since I was 8 yrs old when I picked them on the way to school. A few years later, my parents rented an English cottage, and what I happily discovered was a large bed of them outside of the front door. This was in Massachusetts where my husband and I grew up. I planted them at my N H homes. And, by the way, I can’t tell you how much I love Willow. That face is precious. Angel hugs from Florida.❤

Lovely all white floral arrangement, I just planted the white bleeding hearts in my garden this year in memory of someone. I like to plant different flowers who I know will remix me of the moon. Love the house with out shutters.

I think I agree with you now to remove the front hedge. When I saw the view from the road, it had a closed in feel. I can see you lovely cottage flowers there and in the fall mums like you had at your old house. Everything is looking so lovely.

I love all the white flowers and how you arranged them in the big bowl. Peterborough is cute town. Such a nice "Sweet Shop" and I loved the signs they had up in there. Your house looks more quaint without the shutters. I would have had those bushes trimmed so crooked if I did it. You have great landscaping skills. Thank you.
Hi Linda, I certainly wouldn’t presume to give you gardening advice, but I can tell of my own experience. We had 3 rather large bushes that grew together like a hedge. They were now getting very high, so I asked our yard man to cut them in half. He was more than reluctant and said he wouldn’t take responsibility of the results. He brought a chainsaw and voila’. For the first month they didn’t look good, but they filled in beautifully and I am thrilled that it worked! So cut away, they fill in faster than you think. ☺️
Linda I've been a subscriber for some time now, I just want you to know what a wonderful influence you have been in my life. My life has always been busy and hectic but you have shown me HOW to slow down and enjoy the moment! I find myself enjoying my life by imitating you, I wake up a few minutes earlier each day and take my coffee outside to sit and read my devotional for the day or just a quite moment in my tiny yard to enjoy the fragrance of the flowers, the chirping of the birds, to check on the bunnies that have taken up residents and to seek out Kermit ( my toad) . I bring in a flower and put it in a vase that I picked up at a thrift store. The quality of my life has greatly improved since I've LEARNED to treat myself as I would others. I want to thank you from the deepest part of my heart for changing my life by showing me the way! I'm so looking forward to seeing what else you have in store! Many Blessings upon you!

Can’t wait to see what you have to share with us. Love what you do! My son is dyslexic & when he was in 1 st grade, his teacher gave them a test & told them to put their name on the bottom of the page. He understood that he was to turn the page over & put his name on that “bottom” which he did. She gave him a zero for not following directions. When I saw that, I raised holy hell & went to her & also to the counselor. After that and a few other issues, they advised I have him tested; they didn’t have testing in the schools in 1987. It was very expensive, but we did it. He was diagnosed with dyslexia. He struggled all through school. He is now 42.

Hi Linda, I've been binge watching your videos and had not seen this one before I just had to tell you that your floral arrangement was gorgeous and I could just imagine the glorious scent from your white lilac and my favourite the Lily of the Valley , thank you so much for sharing your fine living you always inspire me to create my own version of refined living using my Shelly tea service for afternoon tea with freshly baked scones I am in awe of your energy getting so much done in the home and garden and to be honest a little bit envious as I can only do a little at a time due to health issues mainly mobility as I'm in my late 70s but my interest is still peaking at the mid 30s so I'm often in conflict with myself wanting and trying to do things but limited physically however watching you buzz around in your beautiful home and garden always gives me a boost take time for yourself and thank you.Suzannah
We live in Virginia, but our home is a Colonial looking home. It had shutters on it when we purchased it a few years ago, we have since taken them off, initially to paint and put back up. But once they were off, I loved the look of it and have kept them off. We've had many people say how much they liked it without them, and how much it looked very New England. That's all I needed to hear!

I like it without shutters especially when there is enough detail around the windows so it doesn’t look plain. I like the idea of functional shutters that they had in the old days that you would actually use, but I guess that would be hard with the screens.

I love the look of the house without the shutters, very classic New England. You have inspired me to pick some of my own white flowers in the yard and make a beautiful arrangement, using a pretty bowl and my own antique flower frogs! There are so many cute little shops and restaurants in Peterborough, and I’m not sure if I could choose my favorite shop! We are going to try the Pearl restaurant soon, which serves Thai food….we hear it’s quite good! And have you gone to the little shop called “Remarkable” yet?… she really has some cute items for the home as well as some consignment clothing…check it out!

Loved the white arrangement. My lilacs are almost out of bloom as are the daffodils. I NEED to have a white bleeding heart-absolutely lovely. Those breads looked wonderful. I am an artisan baker and go to Vermont to KAF for classes periodically. Love it when you take us shopping with you. Looking forward to your next endeavour.

Whatever creative paths you have in mind I remain a joyous follower, so to speak. There was a year I had nothing but white flowers and I enjoyed it immensely. In your lovely bouquet all the flowers were beautiful, my favorites being the lilacs and lily of the valley 🙂. I suppose my favorite flowers have scent. With roses they absolutely must have scent because, for myself, something is profoundly missing without it. The visual alone is not enough. I have never been to Peterborough. I have also never been up Mt. Washington! It is certainly not for a lack of a desire. Peterborough looks like a lovely NE town. One day I hope to see it for myself. 😊
