Ramesses 3 is the youngest son of Ramesses 2. When you read in the records that Sutech is the Father of Setnakhte, it is speaking of the Neter Set from amongst the Devine Deities Set is the one from amongst the Neteru that empowered Setnakhte. His being recorded as the youngest son is found at the Ramessuem built by Ramesses 2.
I am holding out hope that this "campaign pack" is a second map with a slightly different start date covering Tukulti-Ninurta and the fall of the Kassites, plus Elam. But obviously we will see lol. Can't have too high hopes with TW any more.
Total War has put historicity in the back burner since it’s probably that very few people actually have any knowledge on the subject and so-called “historians” have a TV historians proficiency. If I were you I’d offer my consulting services to them.
Obviously, I am always open to consult on video games, though I suspect I will need more than a few hundred views to be considered 😅 But honestly, looking at the details, I do think they have someone on thier team who knows what they are talking about guiding the history. But then there is also a gameplay manager, a marketing team, and a budget, and all four are factors to be balanced. I think that is why the small details look so good, don't have to compromise there, but in the big decisions like no family tree, start locations, and Ramesses getting aged up, you can see the influence of budget, gameplay, and marketing concerns respectively. I have the luxury of being 100% history focused, but while I think it is important to call out real history, it is also good to recognize the TW team's constraints.
The more i watch your video, the more apathetic I am towards Seti II as being a better ruler than even Rameses III in an overall sense. Rameses was good but not good enough to keep the country together completely. It makes Seti II the king the country needed but tragically lost to the sands of civil war because like his predecessor of the 11th Dynasty Menuhotep II, he had the ambition and capability to do what it needed to keep it all together...even if his rule was harsh. Not saying that Rameses III was a push over. Oh hell no. But over all, Im beginning to feel that in the long term, he was wasn't quite the right man for the situations he had to deal with in his era. Almost like "wrong place wrong time" kind of scenario but the best that fate could provide the country since both Amenmesse and Set II were dead by that point in his ascension. I think Rameses III would have fitted better in more peaceful times such as the golden era of the 19th Dynasty or even the 12th Dynasty under Senusret III or even the 4th Dynasty of Khufu and Djoser.
I want a faction of PEOPLE, families, intrigue, corruption. That’s the whole strategy maps purpose. Pharaoh is not what we wanted out of a mainline title. All the bullshit aside this game will: Have Day 1 DLC Pre-order bonus Blood Pack crucial game mechanics gatekept through DLC Broken AI weaker mod support compared to older titles Reply your thoughts!
At least it has court politics, and the timeline is short enough to justify no children, though that is part of why Ramesses gets displaced temporally. I can't endorse the business practices, except to say that the money guys pushing this stuff in the company are almost certainly different from the folk actually making the game. On broken AI though, my suspicion is that they deliberately avoid making it too smart, so that low skill gamers like me can still do well lol. There are probably at least 10 causals to each hard-core in a franchise like this, so why would they invest in a difficulty level that most people would struggle against 🤣🤣 Rather like the TW Warhammer, there looks like there could hopefully be enough good here to overlook the flaws, and if there isn't enough good, then it will just end up like Thrones of Britannia, and we will all just move on with our lives.
Nice one, interesting content, what i would prefer though is more of talk about Tausret and about Hittites. Did you know that there are some stories ( mythology not history ) that Tausret dealt with Hellen of Troy at some point, now i don’t mean you should cover that what i mean is that i find Tausret enigmatic and interesting character about which we know very little about and would be nice to know more. Same about Hittites and their last king.
Tausret's video is out if you search my channel, hopefully it can be found lol. I did skip over Manetho's reference to Thuoris, I wouldn't class it as mythical necessarily, plenty of Trojan War stuff has historical connections, but this particular one seems a bit thin to me. I will be covering the Hittites soon, two episodes on Hittite background, then 1 each for Suppiluliuma and Kurunta. Glad you are enjoying the show so far, and feel free to subscribe to see the Hittite vids when they come out. Or check my playlists, I did like 22 episodes on the Hittites on my main podcast a while back, and it was a pretty wild ride.
Well great video just loved it

I’d like to play as Habiru, or Mittani, or Babylon DLC.

The Mittani Empire was gone by 1205 BC.
@@ancienthistorygaming I think it was gone before that.

Ah yeah. I do need to give them an episode as well. I will put it on the list. I appreciate the idea.

@@entirelyalive The day they make AI powerful enough in total war it'll be as complex as a Paradox game!
