You people are all obviously younger than 40 years of age. Or even 30. The History Channel, Discovery Channel and TLC hasn't been relevant, informative or of interest or quality since the 1990's. Around 1999-2000 they rapidly grew increasingly more speculative tabloid and sensational and when that didn't work they turned to degenerate reality bullshit TV and popular pseudo-science which is obviously what you kids grew up with. History is indeed wiped out by the victors. You don't even know a world prior to Sep 11 when all you had to do was pass through a metal detector at airports, people would talk face to face and do shit together and you would actually find informative stuff on TV. You've grown up in a world were people are detached not only from each other, but themselves, going through an airport is a hellish control grid tyranny and everything on the webz or TV is lies, propaganda and bullshit! I used to tell people about the new world order back in 1991. They'd laugh and call me crazy. Well... look at it now in retrospective. They've certainly succeeded very well with most of what I read they were gonna do over 30 years ago.
I cannot believe you did all this on your own. This is on par with professional production. The nostalgia and overall flow of the cinematic historical data is on par with the history Channel. I can't stop watching it. The kind of education that we need, no opinion, no bias. Historical education based in factual data. The lack of such bias that unfortunately goes along with all types of knowledge based in fact makes it all the more impressive that an individual created it alone. It's spectacular.

So are these ancient sea peoples the Phoenicians? Or are they a completely different ethnic group. I always though the Phoenicians were the first sea people of the ancient Mediterranean.
@@Sailrjup12nh “Phoenicians” (Φοινικες) is an Ancient Greek designation for the Canaanites that enters into the archaeological record immediately after the Bronze Age collapse. How the “sea peoples” may have assimilated into the region historically termed “Canaan” by the neighboring ancient Egyptians and Hurrians is a matter of debate among modern historians.
@@francmarcus8433 I kinda agree, but remember that Kings and generals now has an entire team behind it with lots of financial backing from its subs, and History time is a multitide smaller. The Nuragic civilization is fascinating and it makes me wonder if there was any influence to the west of Sardinia such as with the Talaiotic culture. Outstanding work.
The History Channel, Discovery Channel, etc., should be paying you for the rights to air your documentaries. It’s the least they could do, since they seem to have no interest in producing their own quality content anymore.
No they shouldn’t. In fact they should stay the fuck away as corporations have a tendency of ruining just about anything given enough time. Plus, videos like this prove that you don’t NEED a network like that anymore.
@@NathanCassidy721 Never said he needed them. Actually was stating the opposite. And paying for the rights to air isn’t the same thing as having him produce for them. @@censoreverything8072 Fair enough but I would bet money that it wouldn't stop at trying to buy the rights to broadcast. TV execs tend to want to control than cooperate. But even with your suggestion, which I missed the point on initially admittedly, it's not necessary nor needed. Not that many people watch TV networks outside of sports when you can just pull up Netflix or RUclips and look for what you want to watch. And even those that do know that most of the best stuff is usually behind subscription streaming services nowadays so there wouldn't be much of a point of putting it on Discovery or History when there are better options, like say Curiosity Stream.
I was actually thinking the same thing the other day!! It would be nice for the history channel to do actual historical content but this 2 hour doc would be over 10, 30 min episodes with ad breaks every 5 min and then a 2 min recap when you get back from break. So yea fuck that
I'm a camera guy professionally and so don't really have a reason to be here. Doesn't mean I need one! The history of man kind and the things people have revered, the wars fought over resources or beliefs, the diversity of people's origins, and the ideas traded throughout... these things give context and with that a certain objectivity. At least for me. When non historians argue about who's land belongs to them, who's religion is correct, who's ideas are worthy, I like to look back at topics like the one covered in this video for some truth behind the matter. Or at least a step closer to truth than uneducated, radical claims so common in today's world. Bravo, well done, this video was beyond excellent!

And this information brought me here. Didn’t know about such a big event in the history.
It's so fun when you're able to find tiny tidbits of information and piece together the puzzle of your ancestry. I traced back my ancestry to see they had come from Germany and had migrated to the US in 1710, which I later found was the German Palatine migration that was caused by war, famine, and severe winters. I had zero family history passed down telling me this, just worked it out by putting the puzzle together. Was super cool to learn. In the Odyssey, Homer writes that Menelaus obtains a large treasure from Egypt on the way home from the Trojan war. He also recounts a curious story told by Odysseus to the swineherd when he first arrives back in Ithaca. Disguised as a beggar, Odysseus tells the swineherd that he was from Crete and had taken part in an attack on Egypt that sounds uncannily similar to the Egyptian inscription. It appears that Homer knew something about the sea people.
From what I remember from reading Homer, it seems very likely that he is describing the bronze age collapse. During the 10 year siege of Troy about 1/4 or the supposedly 100k Mycenaeans were off raiding and conquering other places for months at a time before returning to the beaches of Troy to change places with other soldiers who would in turn go out raiding

@@alexdunphy3716 I'm not disputing the core of your comment, but it may be worth noting that 10 year figure given as the length of the siege of Troy (or, indeed, the exploits of Odysseus) is inaccurate--although I can't say by how much. To my understanding, it tracks with a popular turn of poetic phrase "9 times and then a 10th", which was used in Homer's time to convey that a task had been quite arduous and required many attempts, even if the actual number had been greater or lesser than exactly 10. In which case, what the commentary on the siege tells us is not necessarily that it took 10 actual years, but rather that it took a very long time by the reckoning of the people of the day.
Very true. In my opinion, the sea peoples were mainly mycenaean warriors turned pirates after the collapse of the palaces. Ramses III says they attacked Arzawa, Alashyia, Hatti, Kode, Karkamish. But not Tanaya or Caphtiu, that's how they called Greece and Crete. Maybe because they WERE from Tanaya and Caphtiu. The greek palaces seem tô have been the first domino tô fall. Then all hell broke loose. Also Ramses III says the sea peoples set up a camp in Amorru and devastated the area for years,. Seems a lot like the trojan campaign, where the greeks set up a camp and sacked everything Worth talking until nothing else lasted there tô loot.

Doesn’t the history channel just do UFOs and reality tv these days?

I cannot believe you did all this on your own. This is on par with professional production. I'm so glad you didn't give up on this, it's an impressive feat! Keep doing this please, you're a treasure to have around.

@@censoreverything8072 Fair enough but I would bet money that it wouldn't stop at trying to buy the rights to broadcast. TV execs tend to want to control than cooperate.

Something drove my paternal lineage out of Anatolia and it started 1200 BC.
Going to check out some other videos and give the podcast a listen,.Thanks for the hard work and the high-quality research and writing!
Check out the Histocrat, all of History Time, and survive the jive. These are my three fav history youtubers by far

Awesome work! Hands down the best documentary on the subject of sea peoples. Well researched, a plethora of photos and maps, clear narration, simply one of your best videos! Thank you for the very professional work that you put into your channel!
This is an excellent documentary on an ancient time that has been a mystery for ages. I never get tired of learning.
Really great stuff. 2 and half hours is basically a miniseries and it's all flawless 10/10
This is so soothing + well done; love that ppl still care enough to create like this. Thank u so much, turned the bell on for more ⭐️
Hey Pete Kelly, I'm Janet Kelly lol. Thank you for doing a show like this. I see this part as a sort of missing link to how we lost our past. You also have alot in common with my family. Way to be awesome and help us understand reality

This channel has become my go-to on RUclips during lockdown. Hours upon hours of expertly researched and presented material that has peaked my interest in areas of history I never before considered researching.
Thank you so much History Time!!
Your work for the historical things you teach are some of the best i ever came across in my 23 years of life… incredibly AMAZING work that you should always feel humbly proud of. Heck the truth in life is always the way to go🙏✝️good work amigo.
This was, by far, the best, most comprehensive, and the most intriguing piece on the Late Bronze Age collapse that I've ever seen.
Thank you SO MUCH!
@@alexdunphy3716 Yes. The Iliad states that Achillies with the Myrmidons and other Achaeans had sacked many cities prior to the incident which was the subject of the Iliad. There were likely many other related stories that have been lost.
Homer,or most likely the vardes ,the storytellers ,that compose with their own patches the two epics, the Iliad and the Odyssey, are doing their best to illuminate through narratives the darkness of the upheaval that brought the Dark ages upon their world,of which memories are more recent than the
Was referred this channel and I am glad. The production is high quality and informative. Keep up the great work.
Absolutely insane you did this solo. I am in awe. You earned yourself a sub for sure.
I fall asleep to this all the time. One day I’ll get through it all!
Some human voices are soothing, & others as painful as fingernails across a blackboard. In this Rothschild-manufactured era of "Agenda 2030" the Media is usually promoting fear, so it is solace to encounter voices that can help achieve healing sleep. Don't Forget: not necessary to listen all at one time - is divided neatly into various chapters.
Your documentary's are amazing. I've never seen anything nearly as good as what you do. Especially about topics like this that are so rarely covered in depth yet you present everything in a way everyone can understand completely but is comprehensive and deep diving at the same time. Best history documentary maker I've ever watched and I've been watching everything I could since I was 6!!!! Thank you. You were made to do this.
I am ashamed that it has taken me this long to thank you most sincerely for your exquisite videos.
This last year has been rough for everyone, including me and your channel really helped me, not just as a wonderful distraction but to add perspective to the crisis we have been living under.
I attribute my Eureka! epiphany that this too shall pass to my own philosophical reasoning (Holla, Plato) of course.
But I never would have felt confident in my realization or reached that conclusion when I did if it weren't for your uploads.
And I strongly suspect that many people have had similar experiences thanks to you.
That's how impactful you are, Mr. Kelly! Chapeau!
wqt h the channel atlantean gardens. thats unbelivable too
