I think humans being humans they have indeed been self destructive, selfish and greedy in the past which has lead to catastrophic outcomes but they have forgotten like they always do. They are doomed to repeat over and over the " idiocy " you aptly called it.

While the title is definitely something I look for in my research, the Opening story is very disappointing, and unfactual. Yes, Doggerland. I know what it is. You totally didn't even attempt to describe it factually. Yes, it is an ancient civilization that is now under the ocean. It was swamped 11,600 years ago, along with every other civilization that existed back then, as the world's oceans have risen 400 feet since the end of the Last Ice Age. Doggerland was not a "hunter-gatherer" land as you suggested. It was a city built of Megalithic Stone. And it's still there! Why didn't you mention this please? I have found several more locations like this, all over the world!
    It isn't that unique!!

If Atlantis did exist, it was most likely Thera and Crete in my opinion. The known facts don't line up perfectly with Homer's tale but check more boxes than anywhere else. To me it stands to reason the disaster would have been close to Greece for the legend to be remembered. The Minoans were technologically advanced and continued to survive on Crete but the ripple effects of the eruption weakened them to the point of being easy prey for envious enemies. Their civilization collapses within a generation.

It seems if it’s a non biblical site, you only need to get a few points correct. If it’s a biblical one, many are not happy till they find a sign saying, ‘Welcome To Sodom’.

Really enjoyed the Doggerland section. Re Sodom, using the Bible as a source of history? Really? I get the distinct impression these archaelogists were looking for evidence to support their particular supernatural beliefs, rather than excavating with open minds about what may have actually happened at Bab edh-Dre. Followers of other cults/religions may well have interpreted the finds in a different way.

They don't explain the physics of it, but an airburst or meteor impact can have the same explosive force as a bomb, and is measured in megatons. The heat comes from the object entering Earth's atmosphere: friction, basically.
