Fantastic documentary. I have watched it twice already. I might even watch it again. Liked and subscribed on that one. Heck yeah put another one together for us
Yet another brilliant video from afterskool thank you 🙏 now I have a question for all those out there smarter than me (which is many!) in all human history do you think there was ever such a stage of idiocracy as we are experiencing now?
I think humans being humans they have indeed been self destructive, selfish and greedy in the past which has lead to catastrophic outcomes but they have forgotten like they always do. They are doomed to repeat over and over the " idiocy " you aptly called it.
I believe it's cyclical. Power is nothing more than a drug one gets addicted to. And like drugs, the more power you get, the more you think you need. The information age is allowing us to witness it first hand.
No it isn't the best documentary you ever saw. Genesis chapter 6 in Romans chapter 1 is the best evidence you will ever see. Romans chapter 1 and Genesis... chapter 6 see. Don't be a fool or it will come back to bite you in the back end... 😢 ...
I'm always fascinated by Doggerland. I have to specifically thank the makers of this documentary for correctly portraying Mammoths and Mastadons as living in lush grassy plains and forest rather than the usual depictions of these mammals trudging through an icy wasteland.
imagine digging up some human remains from thousands of years ago, DNA test it, and find out (somehow, "sci-fi") you're a direct ancestor of the person that you just dug up 😳🤯
Look up Dr Adam Rutherford, what he says about the math behind that. You only have to go back to the Middle Ages to find we are all related to some king, usually an Edward like Danny Dyer. So you are related to the survivors if you've Northern European dna.
Fascinating stuff here, a lot to take in and think about and what implications it has for modern day life as we know it and changes that can be expected.
We have also the submerged city of Pavlopetri which was found in Vatika Bay, off the coast of southern Laconia in Peloponnese, Greece. It is about 5,000 years old.
I'm not sure how old this video really is, but it's remarkable they didn't mention how the elephants broke away and ran to higher ground after the Sumatra earthquake.
this video was really fascinating and well put together! i appreciate the effort you put into exploring these ancient civilizations. however, i can’t help but wonder if the theories about Atlantis and Doggerland being connected have more to do with modern myths than actual archaeology. it’d be awesome to see more concrete evidence rather than speculative connections. what do you all think?
They found asteroid impacts near the coast too in recent history. I can`t remember exactly but it was within the past 7000 years. Will this be ignored? There were 3 near Australia too.
No matter an archeologists acumen, it's difficult to take them seriously when they're searching for fundamentalist biblical evidence. They might as well be searching for dragons.
The people here all but accuse Plato of conjuring up the story of Atlantis based on the information of Helike. Well, it could be that Plato did as they suggest, but what if he didn't and Atlantis has yet to be found.
I think meteorite strikes are more common than we might believe. Civilizations have been set back many times I suspect. We exist for just a short time and think it’s unlikely, but there is so much that disappears in a few centuries.
Looking forward to our scientists figuring out how these ‘primitive’ people’s ancient ancestors constructed all of those megaliths, with incredible carvings , on those massive stones in Turkey, 1000-2000 years earlier.
They weren't 'primitive' and archaeologist don't really use that word for modern humans. Even our hominin ancestors usually get the moniker 'archaic'. It's also not exactly a myth how they were constructed because the technology is still around, we just have more sophisticated tools. It wasn't aliens, why the actual hell would they stack stones atop of each other when they have the knowledge of interstellar spaceflight?
The Doggerland investigation was an interesting exercise with reasonable outcomes, the next story regarding Sodom was more imaginative even mildly possible however there was a lot missing including the sister city which was tactfully unmentioned, the last while the actual investigation was reasonable the detailing was long winded and the speculation at the end was at best fantasy. Overall rating 6 out of 10
It was informative and wonderful historical coverage documentary about sank dogger land ancients civilization during Mesolethic periods. it's archeological trails 👣 explored under sea platforms ... those ancient civilizations vanished under flooded water waves , thank you Get.factual channel for sharing this 45:44
What's the bloody mystery? Everything that happened was perfectly natural. I hate these supposedly factual documentaries that add a mysterious element in a feeble, tabloid attempt to sell the programme. Like those archaeologists who are digging an ancient inhabited site and the first thing they ask is, "Any sign of human sacrifice?".
What happened to the people who lived there? Their descendants went on to make RUclips videos about what happened to the people who lived in doggerland
I stopped watching 6:30 in...."what was the harpoon doing in the middle of the North Sea?" Duh.... I don't know, perhaps it was used for FISHING or WHALE HUNTING in the OCEAN????
So We can find prehistoric creatures. Detail their life style, diet, and their personality.. But you can’t find a place that supposedly existed a blink of an eye ago??
It went from being interesting in the first part, because they know Doggerland existed, to being someone intent on making an archeological site fit the story he wanted it to fit when it obviously didn't, to absolute idiocy about "Atlantis". I wish I had turned it off after the Doggerland part. The rest is ridiculous.
fyi zandmotor translates as sandengine, it's a man made sandbar that uses the tides to deposit sand further up the coastline to prevent erosion of the beaches.

OMG. You start by describing the sinking of a continental mass of land in the Atlantic and 5 minutes later you are asking whether Atlantis was in the Meditteranean. What planet are you on?
Everybody Knows the city of Atlantis is in Maurentania "the eye of the sahara" just nobody actually wants to name the structure... It has all Plato's caracteristics but it is Inland Just as this city Helike.
So you're telling me a technological civilization - the greatest city of its time - was on this spot, regardless of there being absolutely zero archeological evidence and zero mention of Atlantis by any other contemporary source? And everyone is meant to know this??? And let's not forget there are geological explanations for the Eye of the Sahara... Just because you really want Atlantis to exist, it doesn't mean it does.
Excellent documentary. One thing they don't mention is Lot's wife being turned into a pillar of salt. If this was the result of an air meteor burst, which as they say exploded in a north-east direction over the Dead Sea, this *could* have displaced a huge amount of very salty water. Not sure if it would turn someone into a pillar of salt - but hey, why not?
Just a thought but with most water being snow before it started melting, that means there was ground connections between the land masses, most likely swamp and mossy but inhabited by humans, many other low places were also inhabited and were flooded during this climate change of its time.
Watching civilizations get wiped out by floods, tsunamis, and cosmic blasts makes me think... 😳 If YOU had to survive one ancient apocalypse, which would you choose? Dodging a tsunami in Doggerland, escaping Sodom, or trying not to 'liquefy' in Helike? Let’s see which ancient disaster would be the toughest!
While the title is definitely something I look for in my research, the Opening story is very disappointing, and unfactual. Yes, Doggerland. I know what it is. They don't explain the physics of it, but an airburst or meteor impact can have the same explosive force as a bomb, and is measured in megatons. The heat comes from the object entering Earth's atmosphere: friction, basically.
This is truly one of the most outstanding documentaries I’ve come across in ages.
