Thank you for another incredible history video on the ancient near east. While I study and publish about late Byzantium, there is an enthralling charm to the peoples who lived in the very first societies of man kind. Radically different yet so similar, the more I read about our ancestors the more I am engrossed in their fundamentally human experiences. With a smile, I can say that as civilization has reached near unimaginable peaks, the base experience of humanity has not changed. We might pride ourselves on reaching the moon or developing atom fission, yet as in the ancient past and today, our teenagers still have angst over acquiring the latest fashion and the deathly sick of our society can not be saved as much as we try. So much of our material capabilities have developed, yet with humility we can see the events of life are the same as they for the very first man. Much changes, but the emotional experiences of man remain as they always have been.

Hello, a Canaanite/ Phoenician Descendent from Lebanon ... we still exist after 9000 years, maybe language changes and some customs stopped but we are still here
    Thanks for this Vid!
ppl should know what they did
ok we have lots of knowledge of the late bronze age and onwards, however what about the period of 4000 BC - 2500 BC
why dont you Check the Similarities between the Mayans and Tyre ... with religion, customs and the way they Dress! especially around 700BC
but before that they still had similar ideologies more or else
So if you check before the Mayans,, you can see the OLMEC had identical beliefs, check photos of the Heads
they are wearing the Same Headgear or HATs of the Phoenician/Canaanite kings and Gods wear!
So i believe the OLMECs were influenced by a Pacific King who ruled over the Pacific islands, from Solomon Islands to Easter Islands...this Pacific king Could most probably be an offspring (Canaanite father* pacific island mom?) this means the pacific islands were also influenced by the canaanite phoenicians .
We have solid proof that they were in Australia, so why not reach South America ???
    They did
    Peru!
Again you can see similarities between the 2 cultures ..
    Check Caral Supe
So I believe Byblos Canaanites reached many parts of the world at that time and influenced lots of PPL
they used to arrive, look for a natural port, enhance that, make contact with the current population, establish a post in the natural port and start building a city, host all the local population that liked you, marry the women and intermingle with the locals
I also strongly believe that canaanities byblos influenced the Minoans the same way in Crete, the always used the same tactics that works, the most peaceful way to conquer the world...
check the dates, check the pyramids, the sacrifices , all are connected...

    • @Uncanny_Mountain

You should check my work then
I could do with your insights
The Priestesses of Isis also circumambulated the Temple of Isis seven times counter clockwise in order to enter the Temple, each with a torch aloft in a fertility rite.
Moses also circumambulated the Kaaba seven times counter clockwise in pilgrimage.
The Menorah seems to represent half the Labyrinth of Lesbos, what some call the Man in the Maze. The journey into the underworld taken by the Prince/ Hero. Arithism is a form of divination using birds. E Io also refers to the First Month, or Tammuz.
The Spider is a reference to the Fates, and the web of forgetting, the constant distractions and spinning.
The Wheel is the Zodiac, and represents the Baal Cycle also recorded in the Tales of Troy and Midas, and King Arthur, involving the Occulting or Kidnapping of a Bride or Prize Head of Cattle, which denotes Eclipses in the various aspects of Constellations, ascending stars were seen as Masculine forms, while setting associated with the Feminine, Eve, whereas at the Zenith the body incorporated both aspects.
So with the Morning Star comes the Evening Star, and the Evening Star heralds the Night. The Monster's Ball of Cinderella, the Wedding of Revelations.
The Antikythera mechanism was a Zodiac Calendar that tracked leap years using the Olympic Games, which come ten days after the first full moon of the Summer Solstice just like Easter is. The tenth day of this month is called Ashoura in Islam, Asherah, the Wife of Amun Ra. Elgebalius is a combination of Ellah Oak and Gebal the Earth God like Priapus.
Also there is a little known Mandela at Nazca that resembles the Shakti, called the Estrellas, its well worth taking a look. The Humming bird is a representation of Pleiades, you can find more info in "New Zealand Skeletons in the Closet."
Hecate is Hydra, which sits behind Leo, and represents Typhon, as you say the Western, desert wind, where for Phoenicians West was their Cardinal North, and East their Cardinal South. Dionysus hass a root with Diamona, whose name was found on a stone in England. Dimona means South, and so you can see this would invert the language. To figure the difference you would need a compass using Ferrous Iron, this is the reason for the obsession with Meteorites as a source of Iron, which I speculate they saw as dropping from the Moon. Though there is a relation to cyclical orbits like Nishimura, which appears around every 400 years.
Its about time you reviewed my work in this area too

      Canaan is Phoenicia is Israel
Palestinian's are the Canaanites, and Jews were Druis
Iberian Celts. That's why Ireland aka Eiyraenians aka Aryans have such an affinity for Palestine. Israel is the Canaan word for Saturn or El, Fruit of Isis and Ra, Celebrated at Saturnalia, when the Scion died and was reborn three days later on the Winter Solstice or Xmas. Also known as Ishtar
Saturn is the Moon, specifically occulting the planet Saturn, ergo the Moon and Star emblem of Constantinople. It represents Pan, the Phoenix King of the Phoenicians
The Purple people of Assyria, named for Sirius, the Dog Star, and basis of the Egyptian Sothic Metonic Calendar
      Ireland also had 32 Kings

No! Those are Semites. Canaanites were Hamites. You're right, Palestinians, Israelites, and Lebanese are one people = Semites.
      1 Chronicles 1

      Cush, Egypt, Put and Canaan.

      The sons of Raamah:

11 Egypt was the father of

and Shelah the father of Eber.
19 Two sons were born to Eber:
One was named Peleg,[g] because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan.
20 Joktan was the father of

A city of many names indeed. I cite from Wikipedia: "Eusebius' Onomasticon stated that Byblos was called "Gobel / Gebal" in Hebrew.[8] The name appears as Kebny in Egyptian hieroglyphic records going back to the 4th-dynasty pharaoh Sneferu (fl. 2600 BC)[9] and as Gubla (𒁺𒆷) in the Akkadian cuneiform Amarna letters to the 18th-dynasty pharaohs Amenhotep III and IV. In the 1st millennium BC, its name appeared in Phoenician and Punic inscriptions as Gebal (𐤂𐤁𐤋, GBL);[10][11] in the Hebrew Bible as Geval (גבל);[12] and in Syriac as GBL (ܓܒܠ). The name seems to derive from GB (𐤂𐤁, "well") and ʾL (𐤀𐤋, "god"), the latter a word that could variously refer to any of the Canaanite gods or to their leader in particular. The name thus seems to have meant the "Well of the God" or "Source of the God"."
I like Gebal, mostly because it reminds me of the ancient Basque town of Gebala, modern Gebara or Guevara, which directly leads to famous Che Guevara.
Does Jbeil derive from Gebal or is it just a variant of the Arab word for "mountain" (jebel)? Or a mix of both?

    • @LuisAldamiz
      @LuisAldamiz 2 месяца назад +5

@@prestonjones1653 - I don't think you can say "colonial": the region was Arabized very long ago (7th century) and Arabs (Ghassanids) were living in the region even earlier. These Christian Arabs eventually betrayed Byzantium and allied with Muslim Arabs in the conquest of the land.

No they don't, they infact confirm the Holy scriptures.
Abram came from a polytheistic background.
The children of Israel were countless of times ensnared by the polytheistic beliefs of their neighbour's, but each time after chastisement they would return to the true Living God.
Just because the Israelitites adapted the titles El meaning 'might, strength, power, ' Yah, for their God, it did not mean they were referring to the gods of the nations. they knew who they were referring to.... (tetrragrammaton)... Some did not even say His name..instead they said 'Hashem' meaning 'The Name'
It's the same today.. When a christian says God we know who we are referring to, hindus and others also title their gods as God but they are talking about a different god than the God of the Christians&jews.

Ancient Egypt is thousands of years older than Judaism
Its so old that the Ancient Egyptians dealt with the people that inhabited that area *BEFORE THEY SLOWLY MORPHED INTO THE JEWISH RELIGION*
Those people worshipped gods like Baal and Set and at one point they even invaded Ancient Egypt and conquered the Northern part of Ancient Egypt
Eventually Southern Ancient Egyptians assembled a powerful army and drove the invading people back into the territories from whence they came
The family that did this was the ancestral family of King Tut...known as the "18th Dynasty"
The Pharaoh that began these wars of taking Egypt back was a Black man...Pharaoh Seqenenre-Tao
So even when they show images of pharaohs in cartoons, movies and paintings they always show some white or lightly tanned people
If you believe you know ancient history *WITHOUT* actually doing painstaking research....you will automatically be wrong my friend

@@joecool9739 Your history is all wrong friend.
      1. The Jews didn't slowly morph into the Jewish religion. Even if the Jews came from the Canaanites, they sprung up over night.
      2. The Canaanites worshipped Baal. The Egyptians Set/Seth. Seth was, the Egyptian adoption of Baal.
      3. The Canaanites never "invaded" Egypt or conquered the Northern part. Semites migrated down to Egypt during a time of famine and built a city. When the Egyptians suffered from a power vaccuum at the end of the Middle Kingdom, the Semitic rulership in Avaris took control of Egypt without a fight.
      4. Sequenenre-Tao cannot be called a Black man. He wasn't Nubian but Egyptian. Egyptians probably had a mixture of races in their blood. There isn't enough evidence one way or another to definitively claim the color of his skin. The Egyptians didn't portray themselves as black, though they did the Nubians. That being said, in their portraits the Egyptians used a caricature for the different races that weren't always accurate. The Semites from the Levant were depicted with blonde hair. They of course didn't have blonde hair. It is believed by scholars that since they were workers in fields and such their hair would bleach in the sun and be a lighter tone then others, so the Egyptians chose yellow.
You certainly haven't done pain staking research. Its bad form to act like you have while criticizing another for not doing so.

    • @LuisAldamiz

The doctrine of Moses and Aaron was to make the name of the Hebrew God (earlier "gods", "elohim", at least in the northern or Eloist tradition) taboo in order that different populations, each with their own traditions, could worship the same deity. That's also surely while Amen-Mose (Amenmesse) became just Mose (Moses), although the ringtone of "amen", the Egyptian lawgiver god and most important deity of the New Kingdom, lingered in the liturgy to this very day. Yaweh seems to be syncretic mostly between Egyptian Amun (or Amen) and Canaanite El, whose name is that of Yaweh in the Eloist (Northern) tradition (once they gave up on traditional Canaanite polytheism, i.e. "elohim" = the gods).
"Shashu" was probably a mere generic term for nomadic pastoralists, much as more recently we say "Bedouins", which may well have included the early Hebrews but not exclusively. Different groups/tribes may have worshiped different deities and monotheism was not yet a thing anyhow. I'm more intrigued about the phonetic coincidence of "Hapiru" and "Hebrew" but again the term may have originally referred to an array of different groups (bandits and such) and only later be restricted to mean the Jews.
My take is that, regardless of what may have been "Israel" before the LBA collapse, there was a re-foundation by Moses (surely Amenmesse) and his (adopted) Canaanite "brother" Aaron in the context of the LBA. The "40 years" (ritual phrase for "a long time") of dwelling in the desert may have been some two centuries in Jordan and the Negev/Sinai regions at the fringes of the Egyptian Empire, as Shashu/Hapiru wandering shepherd/bandit "tribes".
The Bible makes Reuben the first tribe of the Jews and it was always located east of the Dead Sea (just north of Moab and south of Gad), the second tribe was Simeon in the Negev desert region around Beersheba, and only after these two, Levi (priestly caste without land) and Judah (southern Palestine) are listed. This is IMO important to understand where the first Mosaic Hebrews lived and directly links to the semi-legendary desert journey narrated in the Bible.

What strikes me is the role of the Sea Peoples and Philistines, who seem like the catalysts for much of Canaan’s transformation during the Late Bronze Age collapse. It makes me wonder how much of this cultural syncretism laid the foundation for later civilizations, especially the Israelites and Phoenicians.

That's my take on the Shekelesh, a circumcised "sea people", hence probably Canaanite (circumcision was an Egyptian/African tradition that surely expanded to Canaanites under Egyptian rule). They eventually conquered parts of Sicily (Sicels) to which they gave their name and a good deal of their ancestry. To this day Sicilians have a very anomalous genetic tendency towards Lebanon-Syria that has no other possible explanation.
