More Eurocentric nonsense. So these photoshoped white people did not develop their civilization in Europe or Asia but came to Egypt and the Sudan deep in Africa to found their civilization? How believeable. These videos are a blatant attempt to steal black African history and civilizations. Europe will forever bear the dubiuos distinction as being the only continent in the world that did not develop its own indigenous ancient civilization.

Have watched several videos from this channel about several historical figures. Each video is very enjoyable to watch and Mr. Jones narration style keeps me interested to the end. Will continue to watch. Maybe Mr. Ramesses mellowed out as he got older like most of us today. Experience is a great teacher in how to make the most of your days and for me at least I don't feel the need to rush through everything anymore. Take your time and have patience and you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.

Not sure how many battles Ramses won but Thuthmose III won over 80 battles, he turned Egypt into true empire, Egypt borders extended from south of Sudan to western Libya and across the Euphrates to Anatolia in the north hes time was the pinnacle of the empire.. Ramses however saved Egypt from third intermediate period coming way sooner, we wouldn't know much about ancient Egypt if it wasnt for him, he made the country strong when it really needed to be. Other civilization who didnt survive the sea people and the ancient apocalypse, almost nothing is left of them.

According to top Egyptologists professors Bob Brier, Zahi Hawass and many other scholars the greatest Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt were Old Kingdom Snefru (Khufu’s father) Middle Kingdom Senusret III (Sesostris III in Greek) New Kingdom 18th Dynasty Tuthmoses III (the Napoleon of Ancient Egypt) whose enemies will just lay their weapons down when they knew he was coming, and 19th Dynasty New Kingdom General Horemheb…
Honorable mentions are the founding brothers of the 18th Dynasty Ahmose and Kamose for driving the established invaders Hyksos out of Egypt forever and Seti I Ramesses own father for his building works and defending strategies.
A note of honor and dedication was inscribed on Sesostris III tomb for starting the irrigation canals of the arid region in the Middle Kingdom this aside, he was a great warrior and conqueror, Thutmoses 3 worshipped/honored Sesostris in his temples and did his best to emulate and surpass his conquering deeds which he succeeded.

U have to understand that Ramses becoming a God was the very beginning of Judaism. Moses was from a family that worship the idol 'El'. The concept 'living god' was more like a retaliation and a system of intended disrespect to the pharaohs authorities. Rastafari did the same to the British, colonialism, fascism, in the 30s then they proclaimed Selassie to be King of Kings and a living god.

Great documentary (thanks for this); my only qualm is that the section where you note Ramesses' construction works at Saqqara is slightly erroneous; the Serapeum was not a Temple of Serapis at this time (as Serapis is a later Hellenistic syncretic deity) but at the time was a place for the Apis bull or wsjr-ḥp/Osiris-Apis - Serapis is later conflated with this deity (as well as Osiris and others) so the mistake is understandable.

The research of which Pharoah is in exodus is facinating.
There's a good case for an earlier pharaoh, based on how the hyksos invade after the famine, the memory of what the hykos did causing racism and enslavement, and note your mention of the couple of pre-ramesese kings who seemed to build less.
There is also a pharaoh mentioned in the time of the Israelite Kings, which can aide a time hypothesis.
Akhenaten is a possible post-israel pharaoh, who saw what the israelite god did and wanted to turn the people towards that god, using the best diety proxy available. And i think theres also something about how the 18th dynasty started or Akenaten himself, being not the firstborn of the previous pharaoh.
And finally, the Babylonia/medes rise must join Israel's history. The temple rebuild is dated, and can help guide researchers.

Finally, let me point I told a light-hearted joke about a historical figure who was alive just over 3000 years ago. A joke. Like, what teen wouldn't want that?
Would I make the same joke if it happened in our modern society? Absolutely not. It was a different time, with different standards. I can't look upon ancient history with modern eyes and pass judgement based on my standards. But, I can make a joke, without judgement.

@Duncan Disorderly Many historical facts are conjecture. You have to use logical conclusions in many cases based on how a society functions. Tutankhamuns mother, possibly Kia, Akhenatens wife and sister, would have been placed in a harem along with his other wives. Royal harems were not just for concubines. These royal harems would have included Egyptian women and their children, and large numbers of foreigners married by the Egyptian king in order to establish diplomatic links outside of Egypt. So, not the sexual free for all you were hoping for, but women of high standing and kids too.

    • @bullzdawguk

My hopes for a sexual free for all? I don't recall expressing my hopes on the topic, apart from making a joke. A joke isn't about hopes, it's about a light-hearted laugh. Clearly, you're taking this far too seriously and jumping to wild, baseless, conclusions. This would also suggest why you see conjecture as a fact.
It appears you want to debate the topic. I'm sorry, I don't wish to debate what was meant as a joke and won't continue replying. Good-bye.

This is an excellent documentary. Thank you so much! One comment: it seems that the information presented regarding the Hebrews' enslavement in Egypt is taken solely from the Old Testament. I am mentioning this because there is little or no historical evidence about Hebrews ever having been in Egypt or having been enslaved, etc. It's possible of course, but it's important to realize that religious scripture is not reliable historical evidence in and of itself. If there is no historical record of Moses being placed in a basket, the killing of Hebrew infants, the parting of the Red Sea, etc., it should be mentioned that there is no historical record to support these alleged events.

Funny how he looks nothing like any of the statues he claimed. He was a legendary tagger.

Yup, Ramases had a big hook nose.
He had over 100 kids. Today, he must have millions of descendants.
So anyone with a big hookey...
You could well be descendants of the mighty Ramases.
