Also remember RTD said Rubys story isn’t completely over yet. This could make more sense later like 73 yards worked its way back later.

RTD has said a lot of things. In another interview, he said everything except one very obvious strand that's left very clearly unfinished (Mrs Flood) will be wrapped up this season.
      So who knows.

Sutekh's Dust of Death reached Karn, because a dying Eighth Doctor, crash-landed in his TARDIS on Karn, during the Last Great Time War, where he was given the opportunity to regenerate into the War Doctor, which happened in the 50th Anniversary Minisode, The Night of the Doctor.

I've never been a huge fan of Mel but she's been a real highlight of this new era and you can see that Bonnie Langford is clearly having a blast with it.

I did really enjoy the finale, but I still think that it should have been split into two parts so that this would be a 3-part finale. I wanted time spend sitting in The Doctor's loss and traveling the empty universe figuring out a plan. The pacing wasn't horrible, but I would have liked more time there. But yeah, I liked the mention of making the simple and mundane into something overblown. I think that was a dig at fans making big deals out of small things XD. And yeah, as is said in other comments, this isn't the last time we'll see family of Ruby's next season. And in some interview somewhere RTD said that there would be at least 3 more gods to come (this was said after Maestro's episode), so one is Sutekh, and the others I guess we'll see next season. I wouldn't say no to the other gods that were mentioned by that harbinger. I would enjoy seeing the Mara again. And I love The Trickster. Though one would think that we wouldn't have gotten Sutekh yet if we're going to get other gods. I feel like this season would have been good for Trickster and then at the end of next season we got Sutekh, but eh. We'll see how this all works out. RTD said that these arcs and such were planned to play out during both these first seasons. But RTD does have two more seasons planned also, he's going for another 4 seasons total. Yeah people have pointed out that all the gods have broken the fourth wall this season, so that Mrs. Flood being one of them makes sense. Oh, I think there were more planets that had some people left, it just took a while because it happened throughout time on each world when the TARDIS landed. Ruby isn't in the Christmas special at least not in an important way. RTD said that it would focus on The Doctor being alone. And then we'll see her again next season.

Good reaction. My take on Ruby's mother, when I hear people keep saying she wasn't anything special, I think it downplays the point RTD was trying to make (but could have done better showing) that she IS special- a 15 yr old girl giving up her baby, that's so incredibly brave and traumatic and sad. They say she's "ordinary" because yes this situation does happen everyday around the whole world, but I think its so 'normalized' for us that we're not seeing it for the 'special' thing it is- a very brave human taking care of another human. Which I think is a huge part of Doctor Who from the beginning, yknow after all the aliens and fun sci-fi stuff 😄 I think RTD could have focused on this point better but likely didn't have the screen time. Or could've done better with the scene of the lonely woman at end of the universe and her baby- it was a great set up but I wanted better lines and just.. more, lol. I did feel an anti-climactic feeling from the episode but overall I think it was fun and pretty good. Hopefully it will only get better from here. I hope people don't bash it too much, cuz "oh in the end, she was nothing special. she was ordinary." Well.... I disagree. :)

I also would have liked it to explore the post 'Sutekh dust' universe, including spoon lady. I think it works artistically though.

Does this mean that in the day of the doctor when there were 3 tardises in the gallery, that there were 3 sutekhs?

I don't recall an explanation of just why Sutekh didn't kill the Doctor, though I may have missed it. I suppose it could be the usual megalomania thing of needing an audience for his victory but on the other hand, it seems like something else might be involved. Perhaps he, too, was sucked into the mystery of Ruby Sunday?

It was because doc and Ruby could find out who the mother was. The secret was annoying him, or something.

A red dwarf episode in which they realised they were in a tv show and I can dw doing this also Mrs flood was wearing something in this episode similar to Clara and now Romana at the end

Love the reaction, compared to a lot of fandom, as always, you are a blessing. Thank you. Like your theories over Mrs. Flood and I've thought similar. Maybe this is a new twist on the idea of The Land Of Fiction?

I think it's closely obvious Mrs. Flood is definately a Time Lord but it'll turn out to be someone we don't know perhaps maybe The Consair a character from one of the comics which would be a nice change instead of the same old returns of past characters.
The episode was good in parts but I thought Sutekh was defeated too easily it didn't need to be a CGI dog they could have had a real actor in costume it would had been just as effective and sinister.
I have to say I didn't care for the Ruby and mother scene it dragged on far too long it I think RTD forgets he's writing science fiction this felt like I was watching a soap opera which is one of the problematics I find with RTD I don't think they were special I think RTD is just getting lazy with his writing because there was 7 weeks of this build up and it was all for nothing.

It was a subversion. You're expecting some Chosen One story, but Ruby is just Ruby. She wins against all adversity not BECAUSE of some special magic birthright, but despite lacking one.

After watching it again, I’m starting to Think that the hooded figure was not Ruby’s mother, and is part of the pantheon. When Ruby held up the screen for Sutekh To see, his reply was “I’ve waited so long”. That seems like a meaningful reply from him. Being that he is immortal, and that he cares nothing for life, but sees it as an abomination, I don’t think the cloaked figure was human. I mean, unless I’m wrong, we never actually see that cloaked figure put Ruby on the steps of the church, do we?
Also, the Maestro said that the song could only be that powerful in Ruby if “the oldest one” was there. But then later, they said that “he who waits” is coming. It sounds like those are two different beings.
I feel like if Millie is going to be in season two, they’re going to continue to explain why it snows when ever she talks about her birth and who that cloaked figure actually is.
I also think that Flood is a Time Lord. The Doctor tells Ruby the Time Lords can regenerate when they want to “hide themselves away”, which I thought was odd wording. But then when Mrs Flood comes to watch then grandma she says that she’s always “hiding herself away”. 🧐

Yeah, something must be up with Ruby’s mom because how does it snow?!
