The EQS is a perfect marriage between form and function and that’s what’s beautiful despite now antiquated notions about the power and lines associated with exhaust. The EQS is more beautiful than its AMG brother because of the greater range and drag coefficient. In the future beauty will be understood as drivability rather than loud noise and gaudy vanity. I like the EQS and I want one.

It's not a refusal, it just makes economic sense. You develop a new platform which is a lot of investment, you use it first for the top cars - which generates the highest margin per car,. Going smaller is going higher volume but less margin per car, so it just is the smart thing to do.

@davisadam The EQA is already a thing but it's based on the GLA, which is much bulkier than it's predeccessor. The last GLA was merely a jacked-up A-Class with offroad fenders which wasn't too bad.
EQE finally seems interesting, but still on the high end of the spectrum. What I’d really like is “an EQC” equivalent to a C class instead of being yet another half-assed ICE SUV conversion…
EQE looks really smart, best design Mercedes has come out with in years, probably since the 1980's, form and function, no daft fashion dents or massive "I got my car on finance" radiator grills. Shows though, if a car's design is driven by engineers for functional requirements like efficiently and range it looks so much more modern and futuristic.
AMG EQS would be my choice of those, having seen your review of the standard EQS. That Hyperscreen is amazing! The AMG styling improves on the standard model I think.
SOme great lines - very funny! But have you noticed that the last motor shows you went to had a few electrics shoved into a corner, but now things are rather different?
Fun thing I noticed with the last (VW) video: In the video, taken on press day, you could see that VW had the ID.3 and ID.4 right at the front of the booth. When I was there on Sunday with the general public visiting, that exact place was filled with an Arteon and a Passat, both being plug-in hybrid wagons. What annoyed me even more about that is that VW's electric wagon (concepts called ID. Space Vizzion and later Aero B) is still at least 1½ years away :/

So, 2 out of 5 for me - but the likelyhood of me buying any of them are zero: I want and need a Renault Zoe-kind of car.
I’ll stick with my 2008 S320cdi L which can deliver economy better than 6.9 litres/100 klms. After about 200 klms the fuel needle finally moves off maximum. If you drive at night on the highway here in Australia the temperature (depending on where you are) is about 15 degrees. The 3.0 litre V6 intercooled turbo Diesel engine sitting with cruise control on true 100 klm/hr (the display must read 104) will easily return less than 7 litres per hundred. This will give a practical and tested range of 1200 klm per tank! Even only highway driving during the hot day, with cruise on true 100 klm/hr, I easily get 1000 klm per tank. The worst ever consumption was over 600 klms per tank (frustrating city driving in heavy traffic). This V221 chassis is superior to the V220 which I previously owned. V by the way indicates long wheel base. Here in Australia, the distances are massive. Unless electric equivalent luxury long wheel base sedans (I only buy these for my rear passenger comfort) can equal or preferably exceed the range I currently get (any other compromise is foolish) then there is no way I will buy an electric vehicle.

The EQG could have a few issues due to its shape when it comes to its range but if they mount the batteries low down like on the cars it is less likely to be top-heavy and topple over when it comes to corning and a crash
I want a EQC Estate based on a saloon platform, not an SUV. Have a petrol C Class estate at the moment so SUV’s are of no interest. I suppose this is unlikely to happen so that will be the end of Mercedes ownership for me.
Always fab to watch, Jack. Anyhow, a missed opportunity, if I may... The possible reason you feel the EQE is a little 'kinder on the eye' than the EQS is because, unlike that car's hatchback/fastback body shell, the EQE is a more conventional booted saloon - I guess favoured by taxi drivers in order to keep luggage & occupants separate.
He stated that he liked the more angular front/headlight design. If you look at the side profile of EQS and EQE they are almost exactly the same, only the EQE have slightly shorter overhang front and rear. That they chose a saloon boot opening mechanism for the EQE is not affecting the design, it was allegedly chosen to increase head room in the rear seats.
My favourite Mercedes EV is the Smart For Two. The perfect shopping and city car. I even drove from Reading, Berkshire to the Hambach factory in France to see them being made in my petrol Smart ForTwo many years ago with the Smart Owners Club. So they are very capable of doing long distances too - well the petrol ones were. I've driven the electric Smart many times at Mercedes Benz World at Brooklands, Weybridge. The electric versions are even better than the ICE versions as doing have that clunky gear change the ICE versions have.
Not discussed, but shown, on the AMG EQS 53 $Matic +, was a small door on the side in front of the front door. This door is for adding windshield washer fluid. Really! That's all it does, as the "hood" panel does not open at all.
Finally a Maybach that doesn't look like a re-badged S Class! If you have money and a Range Rover is just too small, then Maybach have the car you've been waiting for! For me an EQG would be nice. Just need a Lotto win first!

Haha, I had not noticed this until I read your comment. It is not really fair to just blame Jack though - it's the whole production and camera person really.
Is it legal to have a light strip on the front, like they do at the back? I find fake grills ridiculous, it's like making modern smartphones in a shape of a stationary phone because we are used to their image. However, I don't have many ideas of what to do instead... Maybe all electric cars should look like hypercars with an almost pointed front? haha
What's good about these is mainly that they make their ICE counterparts look a bit more dull, boring, and dated. And considering there's a lot of those on the roads that's a good thing. Because their owners most of all want to be seen driving these things and owning them. That's their whole point. So, it will do wonders for electrical vehicle adoption with that class of people as well as less wealthy people who can only afford lesser/cheaper brands. I live in Germany, they are a bit slow on this front but starting to catch up. This is going to help a lot.
The EQB 340 looks dull as ditch water, and the others just look gaudy to me. I prefer the outside look of the Kia EV6, perhaps I am just common as muck 🙂. Would have been nice to see the interiors too.
Shame all Mercedes are now losing the upright star emblem. A few years ago they dropped it from all models apart from the pinnacle, the S class. Disappointing that even the new EQS does not have an upright star emblem, only the outrageous maybach does. I’m sure it is in the quest for drag coefficient but maybe some things are worth sacrificing for?
Has Merc backed themselves into a corner with the naming scheme? They should have differentiated the SUV and a sedan classes like the ICE cars. What about a GLE or GLS equivalent or a C class sedan equivalent?
Has to happen, but I suspect on a new platform rather than the C-class platform. I love my EQC but we all know it was Mercedes' toe in the water of the EV market.
I am so disappointed the EV G-Wagon is not a smooth curve design as opposed to boxy with slight rounded edges!. Surely, the designers can sculpt a modern look to that two-box shape.
Which do I like most? EQE, then EQS (non AMG) Which would I buy? EQA EV only design hatchback. So none (hehe) Least? That bloated big red bubble - of which the colour is what gets my Like Anyhow, great to see relatively small car maker Merc push out these many EV models in this short a time frame - applause applause applause!
Great sequence of videos, keep on bringing them! 👍 Happy to see so many new electric cars coming! However may I give you another advise as I did it few months ago when I asked you to show the price in Euros, also! I know that your Brexit mad government (and media) is planning to return you back to the glorious days of the past by reintroducing the antiquated imperial system! That's fine for us on the continent! However as you said back then you are not planning to lose us as audience, so could you please show (on screen) or say the range in metric system, so that we the under humans will be able to get some idea how far a car can go on a Fully Charged battery! Thank you very much!
@@Brian-om2hh , in 1967 I went to art class in high school as a senior, as I skipped a grade, and had literally run out of classes to take. It turned out that I was also an art genius. And I was placed in a corner by myself, and was told to do whatever I wanted, and would receive an A. 10 weeks later I had my first one man show, on a display wall in the Art Class. Word got out, and most of the senior class showed up to see want the Hell was going on. We were allowed to bring one album in on Wednesday's to play in front of the class. One such occasion. I brought my new Jimi Hendricks album, played it, and declare Jimi the greatest guitarist of all time. People, all of them, laughed and thought I was crazy. Now, none of the living people from the class can even remember me ever doing this. So, just wait where you are, watch it happen for yourself, and claim you don't remember asking this question. By the way, all of guys who were at that Jimi Hendrick playing claim they knew Jimi Hendrick was the best guitarist, they had ever heard, the very first time they heard him. I expect the same from you.

Well, Jack certainly is like a puppy dog, with Bags of energy and enthusiasm. Can't fault his take on the EQB or the Maybach, I'm in the same kind of mindset, the Maybach is just a moneybag and a show-off for someone with the bank balance I can only dream of. I do like the EQS though! looks very nice and less pompous!
My reaction was "grills are for losers" but then you described the sound and shaking effects and I thought "an EV that needs special effects is a true loser". People don't really buy cars for their grill, do they?
Hmmm... "An EV that NEEDS special effects..." I'm not certain the word is 'needs' (maybe just 'provides'?) in that, die-hard, petrol-head ICE users often comment that engine sound will be one of the MAIN features they will miss when converted to EV-only transport. The vast majority of reviewers of the Porsche Taycan / Audi RS E-tron GT models have commented on how much more engaging the driving experience of those cars is because they have the 'Sport Sound' to give some sensory enhancement to match the brutal acceleration of such EVs. Each to their own, of course - and you can always switch them off...!
Coming from Germany, why all these giant cars, Mercedes? Narrow roads and small parking lots will make me think twice about buying any of these. Great video as always :) You may want to extend that bleep for the Maybach audience though, hahahaha Edited to add: the endcard is broken, no videos are being linked
Surely electric vehicles provide a better platform for seven seater cars? Why not take advantage of that market demand? You might even be able to make a better shape for the rear seats that can take adults.
The only thing I'm going to 'kick off' about is you saying Merc... stop it! It sounds terrible. Benz is a great alternative. Also, it would be great if you could cut back on the hyperbole, it's more cringe worthy than funny. Fully Charged has always been more _polished_ than most automotive channels, and it'd be great to see it stay that way. (Not hating, just stating an opinion) Back to the cars, the EQG looks good! Considering the duty of most G's, electric is a great idea. The MM EQS concept is awesome!
I’m a bit worried about Mercedes, they are so late in their transfer to EVs. The coming years will be brutal for everybody who want to compete on the EV market. Of course Mercedes has there extremely strong trademark but when they can’t offer more then 170kW charging on a EQE when KIA/ Hyundai can offer 250 kW plus on a 40.000€ car. Furthermore KIA/ Hyundai is the only car group who can measure themselves with Tesla when it comes to efficiency. And soon the Chinese will enter (or flood) the scene with very well spect large EV’s (check out the NIO es8 for example) with high quality, high tech, excellent efficiency and lucrative prices. May the best companies win, the future will tell and you can’t always relay on your old success.
There was a Test drive from a german Journalist from München to Berlin using the EQS without charging at all...638km and 48km left on German Autobahn! Only 15.8kwh/100km consumption. Due to high efficiency there is no need to murder the Batterie with high kW at all. Within 15min you get 300km due to this efficiency and this means also only 15mins for 1000km drive if you Start at 100%. There is no such efficient car on market at the Moment...I can not see any issue for the future of Mercedes. And they promised the EQXX beginning next year with 1000km Range...not due to big Batterie but efficiency...they told to reach a single digit consumption with Autobahn speed. Soon they will be Ahead of any competitor. And regarding NIO...Design and Engineering in München... 😎 Greetings from an German Engineer 😉
@@josefv-y8m That sounds promising for Mercedes. EQS should be good because the S class has always been the benchmark for everybody else. 15,8 kW/100km is impressive for such a big EV but there is EVs on the market that can match this. Today Asian Petrolhead published on RUclips a test drive of the EV6 where they drove it from 100% to zero and ended up with a consumption of 74km/kWh equals 13,5 kWh/100km. EV6 is not as big as the EQS but it ways well over 2 tonnes.
@@josefv-y8m , one more thing. You have my full respect. The world of mobilisation are defined by you Germans. The rest of the world is looking up to your engineering skills. My point is that with the EVs we are going through a paradigm shift that might change the rules of the game. So to stay in front you need to roll up your sleeves and work hard. This dude is the most entertaining, engaging and likeable presenter I've seen in a long long time.
if you turn the sound off he is even better !!
Will EQ G have 7 seat option
Hey, Ford F150 lightning does off-road too.
This is how you do an informative and fun video! Great job. :)
I will take 2 Maybachs, good Sir 🧐
The EQG needs to be released yesterday.
The EQB 340 looks dull as ditch water, and the others just look gaudy to me. I prefer the outside look of the Kia EV6, perhaps I am just common as muck 🙂. Would have been nice to see the interiors too.
No mate - that's absolutely cool - its your personal taste!
drag co-eficient of a front door 😭😂
Shame all Mercedes are now losing the upright star emblem. A few years ago they dropped it from all models apart from the pinnacle, the S class. Disappointing that even the new EQS does not have an upright star emblem, only the outrageous maybach does. I’m sure it is in the quest for drag coefficient but maybe some things are worth sacrificing for?
Has Merc backed themselves into a corner with the naming scheme? They should have differentiated the SUV and a sedan classes like the ICE cars. What about a GLE or GLS equivalent or a C class sedan equivalent?
I'd love what I'm guessing would be called an EQC Coupe. Hopefully we'll get there.
Has to happen, but I suspect on a new platform rather than the C-class platform. I love my EQC but we all know it was Mercedes' toe in the water of the EV market.
Electric that makes sense, that G wagon will need a heavy battery, but who knows Solid State will make it make sense
They are mostly for big cities and to let everyone know you have money.
They don't make and never have made, sense
@@julianshepherd2038 True, so are megmansions with 16 rooms...who I'm I to judge anymore. What makes sense about a Bugatti or Lamborghini ?
Roberts links are missing at the end.
Ah good spot thanks. Will correct
5 really astonishing and wonderful cars, especially the maybach 🤩
I am so disappointed the EV G-Wagon is not a smooth curve design as opposed to boxy with slight rounded edges!. Surely, the designers can sculpt a modern look to that two-box shape.
I’m really waiting for the EQE SUV. Will be the „Hammer“...
I'll take THE MAYBACH... NOT
Bit harsh, considering my Day 1 reservation CYBRTRK!
But that's a completely
'NEW ANIMAL'
I am aiming for the Maybach EQS, but probably going to end up with a old Nissan Leaf... ;)
EQE should be estate. Then I would buy.
Which do I like most? EQE, then EQS (non AMG)
Which would I buy? EQA EV only design hatchback. So none (hehe)
Least? That bloated big red bubble - of which the colour is what gets my Like
Anyhow, great to see relatively small car maker Merc push out these many EV models in this short a time frame - applause applause applause!
Best channel and best reviewer.
I can promise you Mercedes will reduce their carbon footprint by shrinking down to a much smaller vehicle company.
Could you please show us some validity of your claim please?
@@sandiegoray01 Ray, that was sure a long-winded way of saying "because I know shit", but in fact it appears you do. I'm pretty sure you're right about Mercedes.
@@incognitotorpedo42, Thank you for the condensing of my point. But I have noticed the simplest and most direct communication is often ignored.
@@sandiegoray01 It probably is if you can't tell the difference between vapour returning to liquid form and condescension. Also, it's *Hendrix. Finally, none of what you said qualifies your original prediction, which is guff.
Yes
very nice presentation
Well, Jack certainly is like a puppy dog, with Bags of energy and enthusiasm.
Can't fault his take on the EQB or the Maybach, I'm in the same kind of mindset, the Maybach is just a moneybag and a show-off for someone with the bank balance I can only dream of.
I do like the EQS though! looks very nice and less pompous!
My reaction was "grills are for losers" but then you described the sound and shaking effects and I thought "an EV that needs special effects is a true loser". People don't really buy cars for their grill, do they?
You buy a Merc to show off.
Hmmm...
"An EV that NEEDS special effects..."
I'm not certain the word is 'needs' (maybe just 'provides'?) in that, die-hard, petrol-head ICE users often comment that engine sound will be one of the MAIN features they will miss when converted to EV-only transport.
BMW must think people buy cars for their grilles…
Coming from Germany, why all these giant cars, Mercedes? Narrow roads and small parking lots will make me think twice about buying any of these.
Great video as always :) You may want to extend that bleep for the Maybach audience though, hahahaha
Edited to add: the endcard is broken, no videos are being linked
Beautiful cars maybac suv is a wow to look at ... sadly it will probably cost 400 to 600k
Great video!! I love the EQS AMG
The cheapest of these looks as if it is the EQB at around £50,000. So that prices all 5 well out if the reach of most people.
Just like most Mercs...
Surely electric vehicles provide a better platform for seven seater cars? Why not take advantage of that market demand? You might even be able to make a better shape for the rear seats that can take adults.
I don’t even like Mercs, but I watch… because Jack.👍😎
He moved Cars and to me couldn’t tell the difference 😂 But well played Mercedes your going all in on EV’s.
(Not hating, just stating an opinion)
Back to the cars, the EQG looks good! Considering the duty of most G's, electric is a great idea. The MM EQS concept is awesome!
EQV Camper van missing 🌎🙂👋
Maybe they have solid states for the wagon?
Maybe it's a ridiculous toy for city dewellers to show off in so it doesn't matter
@@julianshepherd2038 That is more realistic actually...lol
Nice of AMG to inflate those sad saggy headrests of the regular one, you tried a while ago 👍
The tires on that EQS are going to wreck the ride. Oh, fake noise, too. Jesus.
EQE looks crazy good but what’s it going to cost?
60k GBP for the entry level.
I want an electric SL !
Greetings from an German Engineer 😉
Greeting from a Swedish Engineer. 😉
I wouldn't return it if I was given any of those...
Waiting for the EQE Estate, gotta dog, need an estate!
