Was hoping g sub 25k but no dice it seems. Europe by end of year. Britain early next year is the plan. Hopefully the follow up the high spec models with some budget ones like in china. Punk cat, lightning cat and ballet cat coming as well.

    I think that Smart concept looks really cool. 4.2ish Metres is really the limit of what I can fit in my little garage so any electric car that fits that description I'm interested in!

    • @virtualinfinity6280
      @virtualinfinity6280 3 года назад

      somewhat the same here - I can fit a little more in my garage, but I would loose the ability of putting my bikes behind my car. So about 4.2m it is. I want a small sporty two-seater. Once that is available, I am going to get one. Currently, it's a Z4 Coupe running on dead dinosaurs and ideally I'd have that car as a BEV. Doesn't need to be fast, just retain the driving characteristics.

    • @fabers92
      @fabers92 3 года назад

      That’s also true, in the sense that we can ‘pop’ somewhere, or ‘zip’ some place, without bubble wrap or raincoats.
      Sorry for my first reply, but honestly, can we not demonise people for doing normal, every day things. I think we would all be living very different lives if we based every mundane decision on whether it was for the greater good of humanity or not.

    • @robfrost4048
      @robfrost4048 3 года назад

      @@fabers92 To suggest that someone consider a different form of transport other than a plane to get to a destination that can be reached by a less polluting EV or (as in most of Europe) an electrically powered train is not to demonise them. Jack may, as is his right decide to fly. He might also take advantage of the route to test drive some of the new EVs that the show brought to our attention. I'm pretty sure he and us, his viewers would love that.
      I also do not consider the choice to fly over the choice to drive, take a train, coach or any other means a mundane decision. Each choice makes a big difference to one's own CO2 output. I am a supporter of all that Fully Charged have done from the very start and believe that they are and continue to do an amazing job in educating us all about the benefits, not only personally, but globally of moving to a renewably powered electric future.
      I personally have a long way to go in my quest to do the right thing. I still drive an old Vauxhall Vectra as I cannot afford any of the existing EV's but I now choose to drive it somewhat more sedately than I did several years ago. I choose to walk into town now whereas several years ago I would jump in the car. I switch the engine of at traffic lights. I choose to go by ferry and train to travel through Europe. All of these decisions and more have actually enriched my life. I do hope that helps you understand my initial response to Jack's statement.
      I must also say, I've never been called precious before. It made me laugh in a nice way and I, and my children thank you for that.

    EU won't have car industry by 2030. This is the example of NOKIA. When market leaders think they lead the market, so they do not have to follow the demand :)

    • @seasong7655
      @seasong7655 3 года назад +1

      Nokia declined because they didn't adapt to new technologies. These European carmakers on the other hand are adapting to EVs already better than some American or Japanese companies. Tesla has not even presented an affordable model, and is rather moving towards more expensive models with the Cybertruck and Roadster, while VW sells an affordable EV right now with the e-up

    • @buscseik
      @buscseik 3 года назад

      @@seasong7655 VW E-Up only being sold in very limited number. (for example they sold 0 in Ireland this year) VW use EV to avoid penalty. Ambient light and 22" wheels are not technological innovations. I can do it with a Raspberry Pi under 100 euro in any car. I am not aware they are developing any super batteries.
      Just because a car looks good and modern, it does not mean automatically, it has any advanced technology. Good example the self driving car on the show which can't drive a single meter by it-self.

    As much as they brag that their models will be full self driving we know that will be years away if not never, because they don't have the infrastructure to develop it. Tesla haas designed their own chips. Traditionally legacy auto manufacturers have used what ever is available to suit their needs but FSD is a whole level above a standard car, to reinforce my point look at the joke that is Fords Blue Cruise it can only be used on a few preselected roads and then it cant manage a gentle bend. These legacy folks wont have it for at least another decade by then Tesla would have moved on. They should have started a decade ago but they didnt want to change

    I love all of the small personal mobility stuff that is coming out. really excited to see that so much is starting to be built and sold now. The market has been dominated by high end, high profit SUVs, so about time the more intimate transport got a look in. Really like the 3 wheeled vespa-esk scooter. Will certainly take a look at that when it goes on sale.

      Only in China. Telling imo as I bet they end up essentially ruling the low end ev segment in another 3-5 year's.
      Cheap cars with cheap iron phosphate blade style batteries powering them.
      It'll take that long to consolidate the 300+ev manufacturer's over there into probably 10-20 or so. With lots of state backing.
      Once they pretty much satisfy the home market. Look out everywhere else. 😁👍🏻

      Couldn’t agree more. It’s like watching the evolution of top gear, starting with affordable car information and turning into a bling contest with so much tech without giving people what they really need and want. Like the housing market, why can’t they just do “affordable “

      @@neilwelch7273 because why develop a small cheap car with small margins when you can develop a large expensive one? similar to housing, there is a premium people are willing to pay for a brand new house or a brand new type of car.. so they are never as cheap as they should be... until a load of people buy them for fleet cars and then sell them on. ..

    By my count the Microlino has "been going into production next year" for 5 years.
    The only way anything like that is going to work is if it is made in China or India to keep prices as low as possible. Imagine how successful Smart would have been had they been 1/3rd the price of being made in France.

    When will vehicle designers be brave enough to stop designing EVs that look like ICE cars? The sooner they ditch the 3 box saloon / sloping back coupe, the better. Autonomous "driving" is just a few years away, so why won't vehicle resemble multi-use rooms on wheels... one minute a meeting space, the next a dining room, then a bedroom? Try that combination in the sleek 6m volvo coupe!

      Sick of all these concept vaporware that comes from manufacturers we know wouldn't give a toss if it weren't for Tesla beating them. Better to support real designs like Aptera's instead that we have a chance of seeing in the upcoming years.
