- Intel's new Wi-Fi 6 kits are the latest offerings from the company allowing desktop PC users without built-in Wi-Fi in their systems a chance to get on board with the fastest speeds possible. The desktop wireless M.2 2230 kit can support a theoretical maximum of 2.4 Gpbs, roughly three times faster than traditional Wi-Fi 5 tech.

You skipped the only part that's actually hard, getting those antenna cables connected to the card. Literally the most useful thing you could've put in this guide.
YES!
Same, does it matter which way you plug the 2 cables in? Or are they both the same?
@@benbatz382 No it does not really matter , they both work as antennas , just different colour wires on some . I have an intel NUC and it has a grey and a black wire but it is just two antennas , both go to the plastic lid so they get maximum connection
I think compatibility and Key slots are more confusing.
@Pandaz You just push it on.
You know that relatable moment when you think you don't need antennas so you don't buy any and turns out that they actually are essential
For wifi 6 you need antenna?
@@sahpi0175 I didn't have WiFi 6, I just was checking this video to see if this would be a good kit to buy
ah yes, i got the card and then realised later i shouldve bought the whole kit for my desktop. Without antenna and the cabels it can't receive or send signal.
Alternative would be a wifi dongle
just buy some on ebay and stick on top of the case
thats why im here -_-*
Took me nearly the whole video to realize you were completely unhelpful with the physical installation and completely uninformitive on setting up the software side
good to know, came for tips on installation, these damn antenna .... will look elsewhere
This seems pretty basic. What part of the installation was not covered or showed?
That’s not true
lol the video literally showed and TALKED ABOUT everything about how to install the card, you just have a problem listening.
Lol it's almost as simple as plugging in a USB device. And he literally showed it. The male and female parts can only fit one way, so even someone like you can't mess it up.
You omitted the hardest part which is connecting the minutely small wires to the card! I couldn't do it because I don't have robot eyes.
I did an upgrade on my laptop from an intel 3165 (used in a lot of laptops) to an AX200NGW. It made my internet connection feel a tad snappier really. It also has a more recent Bluetooth spec which is 5.2, that is twice as fast as the 4.2 the 3165 has (or can transfer data between Bluetooth 5.2 devices much faster). If anything for me it is more future proofing than anything really. These are not expensive if you sit down and look for the prices on them. The are priced anywhere from $16 to $25. You may even get it cheaper on sale or from a site with good prices. I would personally never ever pay more than $25 for it since everyone has them cheap. The antenna connectors can be tricky if you don't have good eyesight or you have fat fingers. It takes dexterity and lots of patience to get them seated right. DO not pull the cable that goes into the connector, you will ruin it. That is a coaxial cable too BTW and would be difficult to properly reattach the connector to.
WARNING READ THIS:
In this tutorial they never told you to install a little standoff before screwing in the screw, its very important or else you will cause a short that might brick your motherboard for good
Most of your better motherboards already have those standoffs installed.
@@christiankimmel1806 how do you check if your board has one? im trying to get the ASRock B550M Riptide

Avoid antennas that are at the back of the case. The case may block the signal strengh.
The max speed numbers you quoted are wrong. That's per spatial stream speed and 802.11ac wave 2 could run 8 spatial streams with 2-4 being realistic and common.
Random question.. and also probably a dumb one.
Ive just got my first custom pc made for me by a boutique pc store. And it’s got good specs(i9, 2080 super, z390 MB etc). But I opted not to get one of these Wi-Fi kits installed because I prefer wired. However I’m not sure if I also can’t use Bluetooth now? Because I would like to use a Xbox Elite Controller vie Bluetooth for some gaming.
@@macobber You can look at the product listing. From what I've seen, this only adds WiFi. If you want Bluetooth, you may need to get either a USB Bluetooth adapter or a PCIe WiFi card that also has Bluetooth.
The Gigabyte GC-Wbax200 seems to be a good one (it's not in stock on Newegg or Amazon right now though).
@@luchvk that’s weird, in the intel product listing for the wifi 6 gig+ it says that it has Bluetooth 5.1 integrated into the chip. Do you know if that’s the case or it’s just a wifi chip?
@@thephantom9080 The Gigabyte one I mentioned had a dedicated USB header cable for the Bluetooth functionality. It might still need to connect via USB or it might not. Something could have changed. So, I'm not sure.
@@luchvk ohh I see. I wanted to know about the intel wifi chip as I need wifi and Bluetooth to my desktop pc that’s why I’m asking whether or not the chip includes Bluetooth with it
Is ok using this in a Ryzen pc build?
I say yes, from what I got, all you really require is to ensure that your motherboard has an m.2 key e slot.
I really want to try this on my gigabyte z170 gaming 7, the reason why I’m still using such an old mobo is because the quality of its components and features like thunderbolt 3, I remember it cost me around $200 now if I want build anything with similar packed features mobo it will cost me $500 and probably they are bad quality, what a bs world we are living right now I hope the actual situation helps no only to heal the world but also make companies to pay attention to detail and quality, we are have been getting pretty bad quality products with minimal gains with inflated prices in the last few years
to think this was true even 4 years ago...
i added a vertical mount now i have no slot on case for wifi antennas, how can a person mount that peice for wifi antennas?
Anyone else having problems getting this exact hardware connected? I'm usually pretty decent with it, have now had 2 of these both give the absolute hardest time I've ever had trying to connect and stay connected to the internet.
Is it compatible with asrock b550m steel legend?
i have noticed many places have to keep upper side (desktop) of antennas then only get better signal strength
I bought this kit just to notice that my motherboard doesn't have an e-key slot, only m. Gotta go with the pcie card then, which tbh, doesn't look as clean as this little fella.
Or just buy Msi Tomahawk x570 as it has Intel 6 WiFi build in. I personally recommend getting 1m extension cables for the wifi antenna tho if you have your PC on the floor especially under a desk, if u have it in an open space on top of desk your fine.
It just has this exact module pre-installed so calling it "built-in" is a bit of a stretch.
Is this only compatible with intel not Ryzen or there any wifi 6 adapter for amd motherboard
this kit works on AMD boards.
Does MAG B550M (without wifi) can i install this module..I have already installed 2 m.2 ssd
If my motherboard has built in Wi-Fi 5 is it possible to put a Wi-Fi 6e card in it will I have to disable the built in card and how would I do that
I don't know who's the mastermind behind this design, but here's the rundown. I have an HP Z4 Workstation. The M.2 slots on my motherboard are oriented sideways and there's no screw to hold the chip in place. Would this cause any major problems for me?
You can buy the scews for cheap, just search for M.2 screws on amazon.
Also it shouldn't matter if the M.2 slot is sideways, just make sure its the one intended for the wifi card
so i have M.2 M Key. What can I do?
would be better to know the model of this card
I have this in a pcie adapter and was wondering if having it in the adapter slows the performance?
No, a PCIe x1 slot version 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 supports 2, 4, 8 and 16 gbps respectively, and your motherboard and adapter are likely version 3.0 or higher. The adapter isn't going to add more latency than WiFi in general but you can ping your router to find out the latency. You'll likely find it to be 1ms or less.
how many inches is the the wifi card so like if i were to put it in an M.2 slot how many inches would it be?
My Intel Wireless AC 3168, will NOT connect to WiFi 6. Why!!
I like that it supports GNU/Linux. Because I use Arch btw
i wonder why some computers have a plastic clip for this thing. some dont. some wifi cards even come with a clip and some dont.
is it necessary for insulation of some sort?
i broke the cable.. where can i buy replacement and what size should i buy to order the right cable
I installed this yesterday and now I have a problem: every once in a while my wifi disconnects. I can always reconnect but its so annoying! My wifi modem is wifi 5 802.11ac, is that the problem? Do i need to change my wifi chip to a wifi 5?
This shouldn't happen and it has nothing to do with the 802.11 versions that the AX200 supports, since it's fully backwards compatible. It could be your Router/Access Point or a bug in the driver of the AX200. I once had the issue that my Router was overheating because of insufficient airflow. It could also be the Routers settings but that's a big can of worms... You could also try forcing the AX200 to always use 5GHz/802.11ac from the Network-Control-Center -> Adapter-settings -> AX200 -> Properties -> Configure... This avoids protocol switches.
How can you not include M.2 key types here? More important than how you do it is CAN you do it. Many motherboards don't even have the right kind of M.2 slot
He mentioned key-E..?
and if i dont have the slot what do i do is there an adapter
Hey, my motherboard supports from 2240 m.2 only, Still can i fit this Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) kit.

Soo, if I ha e a tomahawk max and a Ryzen 3600, will it work?
The Tomawhak Max has 1, M.2 slot, located above the video card and below the cpu. It should be marked Turbo M.2. It's an M-key slot so it will not work with this Wifi Kit.

1. Do all the motherboards have an M2 slot for wifi?
2. Does this intel wifi 6 gig+ kit have bluetooth too?
3. Is it compatible with amd ryzen processors and amd radeon GPUs?
4. What motherboard are you currently using on this particular video?
PLEASE I BEG YOU TO ANSWER TO ALL OF THEM.
most mobo's will have either m.2 or pcie slots for the card and they usually have bluetooth, just lookup wireless ax card, m.2 or pcie. theyre compatible w/ ryzen and intel. but check w/ the board manufacturer if it supports these new cards.
so i got one of these being installed in my gaming pc, does this connect to my wifi router at home and thats how my pc gets internet?
Yes
Are you sure you got an M.2 kit and not a standard pcie kit? I don't see why a prebuilt PC distributor would spend extra money on more expensive tech like this when they could save the money for themselves. It is better to make sure so you know what you can remove on your PC and what not to remove.
Is it possible my inspiron 7559 with ac3165 with ax200? I knew how to work around the hardware, but got no idea whether this works or compatible

Driver install? I understand Windows 10 doesn't have native support for the AX200. Should drivers be installed before installing the card or after? Or does it matter? I know that I need to have them downloaded before switching out my OEM card on my laptop, which is the horrible Realtek card.
kinda depends, but usually whenever you have new hardware installed that wasn't there previously you need some new software to go with it for it to work. So yeah getting the driver(s) for it would be wise.
You should be able to do it afterwards. I built a desktop last summer and installed all the othe drivers for my hardware(including the wifi, bluetooth) afterwards (bit hard to install anything beforehand since windows needed to be installed first)
@@jong3303 I understand that I need the drivers, just curious if I should install them before I mount the new card or after. The exe files for WiFi and BT are already downloaded. Since there are no native Windows 10 drivers that support this card, I understand it won’t work without the drivers.
