    At those performace levels you should start thinking about some serious aero mods. Not necessarily to increase downforce but to decrease lift. Ie. Front splitter + rubber strip air dam to stop air going under the car + piece of abs to cover front of wheels to stop air from going under the arches. Flat undertray with basic rear diffusser. Perhaps hood and fender vents. I'm planning to build ground effect/fan car Miata this year so If you're interested I'll keep you posted.

    Pro tip for getting distortion free audio: Get an SM11 lav (or any other dynamic mic) and a Zoom F6 (or any other 32bit float audio recorder). The SM line from Shure can handle over 180db, and the Zoom F6 in 32bit can handle as loud a signal as you can throw at it. You also dont need to adjust audio levels because of how 32bit float works. Then we'll all be able to hear your car screaming crystal clear!

    from my studying the theme of measuring power of the car i foudnd out
    torque is directly connected to G's you experience
    by using your phone accelerometer u can make a graph of acceleration over time and then put it on graph with rpms and calculate power from that
    it is power - air drag and engine interlan ressistance
    but if u reccord G's when decelerating from the same gear and over lay it on the graph you can add them together and u get power made on piston

    Drag radials at the drag strip. That will make you hook. Also softer suspension your coil overs are probably stiff as hell that really doesn't help when it comes to hooking

  • @dil6969
    @dil6969 5 лет назад

    This is an excellent example of why big power means nothing for 0-60 without reliable traction. You've made me realize that anything past 300hp is really unnecessary for a street Miata. Just look at the Hellcat. Without traction control and a crazy-good ZF auto, that car wouldn't do much better.

  • @andrewf8486
    @andrewf8486 5 лет назад

    I did a little quick math and if you strung the the 0-60 and the 100-200 together you would have turned a 14.04s 1/4 mile granted the 0-60 was only at 300 hp the tires were spinning so it wasn’t getting better with more power. You should run it at the strip before you change the tires and do a before and after.

    • @TheCarPassionChannel
      @TheCarPassionChannel  5 лет назад

      It's really not worth the effort to take it to the track on these tires for a serious time, 2 hours round trip. I think your calculation might be a bit off though... how are you getting an ET from those two data points?

    • @andrewf8486
      @andrewf8486 5 лет назад

      TheCarPassionChannel I took the initial I calculated the average acceleration of your 0-60 then it calculated your average acceleration of your 100-200. Then I calculated how far you traveled to get to 60 and subtracted it from 1/4 mile which gave me the distance you accelerated for the second interval. I assumed constant acceleration in both situations 0-60 and 100-200. Your 0-60 was limited by traction so its acceleration should be fairly constant. Now that being said if you were at a track that was prepped properly you coefficient of kinetic friction would be significantly higher and you acceleration would vary more with gear. Your 100-200 should be accurate given that I averaged it over the entire pull. So assuming you would have traction issues in 1 and 2 and you would not shift into 5th I think those numbers are close I would also point out if your meter is operating at 10 hz and it goes to 2 dreimal places it’s accuracy is bare minimum +- .11 seconds so it could be down to 13.8 range in error alone. I calculated that in your first pull you only pulled .45ish g’s a car that accelerated at 1g runs in the 9’s

    • @TheCarPassionChannel
      @TheCarPassionChannel  5 лет назад

      @@andrewf8486 Your calculation accuracy is low unfortunately 🙂 you don't need to calculate any distances because they are given to you by the GPS data (shown on screen). 277 feet in 5.82s for the 0-60mph run, 989 feet in 6.94s for the 62-124mph run. Total of 1266 feet in 12.76s. At 124mph the last 54 feet will be travelled in 0.30s for a total ET of 13.06s.

    • @andrewf8486
      @andrewf8486 5 лет назад

      TheCarPassionChannel alright I looked into my calculations. I made the error of using the slower of your two pulls, but the math was correct. I then used the faster 5.82s 0-60 and I calculated the 1/4 mile at 13.49 @ 128.8. I then looked into why my number and your number were different. When you did your calculation you took the first time period plus the second time period added them together and then assumed the car was traveling 124 mph. The error in your assumption was that the remaining distance you would need to travel would be at the end of the run and missed the time it would take to go from 60 to 62. Since your are traveling at half the speed as the end of the run your time was to quick. I know this means nothing lol. Can you set the draggy for 1/4 mile and repeat the test on the street with the same tires I am curious how close my estimate is?

    Great channel, informative video. Thank you for spending all that time and money, over and over again. I was all excited when I got my '95 MX5 planning a bunch of upgrades. But after watching endless Miata videos I observed that the happiest faces on guys having the most fun were on STOCK Miatas!!! Watch Doug DeMuro in a stock NA. Or watch Quinn of YT channel "The Slip Angle" laugh, hoot, and holler around the track in a stock NA: "Ultimate Miata Shootout Series Ep 4 - Stock Miata
    ." If you don't have 16 minutes, do yourself a huge favor and watch 5:30 - 8:35. Quinn has driven some of the best builds, and it puts all this chasing the "Ultimate Miata" in perspective, and makes the case for the stock version being a contender for that title. When I wanted more, I bought a z3, because I agree with old YT video "Old Top Gear - Best Handling Car." Along with a Clarkson video I can't find right now claiming the same, so don't hate on me for the opinions of some of the most experienced car critiques in all of the Auto world. Then when I wanted more I got a Boxster. All driven on twisty mountain two lane black tops, not in town. I kept all three, and don't regret spending the same money that it would take on one tricked out, skittish, experimental, problematic, less reliable maxed out Miata. Someone will correct me, but I might be able to beat this car from one stop light to the next in my 330xi in most weather conditions, I'm betting even ideal conditions. If I ever build my MX5 NA, it'll be a V6 swap. (Period)

    Did you happen to try softening up your rear shocks? Maybe lower your tire pressure a few psi? Could net you a little more grip, and let the car squat a little better when you give it the beans.
