    the headstone looks great but I think i would use a 20" flat screen mounted to the back for images that way no need for the projector easier to set up and better picture

    Highlight the text with dry brushing luminous paint as it cant be seen when the projector effects are on!

    • @someguy2741
      @someguy2741 3 года назад +1

      Dropping a flickering UV led in front of it someplace would be even fantasticker. I bought some luminous filament in a translucent red... it looks somewhat less red than regular trans red but when I move a UV light past it it screams orange.
      He needs to pair this thing with a Palette 2... but that will need a 1.75mm filament conversion.

    It's a nice project and the end product looks cool!
    But, honestly, I wouldn't waste that much filament on a basic box shape; I'd just make that out of wood. :} Maybe just printing the lettering.
    (Or carving it with a CNC; didn't you have one of those?)
    Also, I think I'd paint it with a brush. Spray paint is too expensive for that sort of thing. ;)
    Anyway, keep building stuff, Joel! :-)

    This is one of the best props for Halloween/haunted house I've ever seen.
    I might have grabbed an old LCD monitor for this (assuming I could rig it so it wouldn't stress the rest of the frame), so I could put a weak spotlight on the tombstone so it's a wee bit more visible, but the effects would really pop when they're triggered. OR, I would find a way to "leak" the projected light so that it would illuminate the tombstone as well.

    I may still buy the new Stain Glass effects though. They are just really cool looking and I may just run those on Halloween for my own enjoyment. Still no decorating otherwise nor handing out candy. I am a bit sad about it as it is my most favorite Holiday.

  • @derrickwilliams2903

    This is a good case for using the correct materials and processes for the correct parts. The center section is a good candidate for 3D printing, due to all of the text and detail. The frame and base are very simple and would be better to produce out of something like wood. I would also wager that it would be a lot faster that way, too. But yeah-yeah-yeah, this is a 3D printing channel. I am here to advocate for logic over "3D print all the things".

    First, thanks for the video. I really appreciate all the work and money you throw into the machines and prints. I wonder, though, if because you 3D print sooo much that you just ignore all the print lines. All I can see, as a non-printer, is all those print lines. they are so clear on the camera and even after you threw all that texture after it. Sorry, but better results to me would have been just make it out of foam.

    • @seville2k
      @seville2k 3 года назад

      Those print lines are just because it has a really big thick boi nozzle. It also has some printing issues that Joel hasn’t ironed out yet. But for something that is going to be painted and finished later, you can get away with some printing artifacts

    • @ge2719
      @ge2719 3 года назад

      @@seville2k still, youd get a far better more realistic looking finish with foam and some pva glue mixed with sand.
      3d priting in this case i think i sbetter suited for detail you dont have the time or skill to make by hand. maybe a gargoyl for the top of a foam tomb stone, 3d pritn the recessed lettering section and combine that with a foam body.
      this was like 200 dollars worth of filament, vs 10? dollars of foam
