Seriously, how can people actually think Karl is a character... if he was he would singlehandedly be the BEST ACTOR in the world! He is just karl Pilkington, a simple bloke, and he is so funny because he is NOT a character but a real person. I love him, makes my day everytime. best person alive, brilliant in his own stupid way.
He might play up certain parts of his personality to the camera, for entertainment purposes, or sometimes act like he's more stupid than he is. But in general, he is a real guy.
People in reality are much funnier than any actor could ever be. I’ve met unbelievably hilarious people in my time and not a single one of them was a fake character. The moment I became aware of Pilkington, years and years ago, I knew immediately that he was a real guy and that it was no act, just by how incredibly and effortlessly funny he was.
Harrison Bowman I mean, it would be fine if I had sexual feelings towards women, but I wouldn't act on it. So, it doesn't matter. I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't like sex or romantic relationships. I prefer solitude.
tigerkitten927 That's fair enough, I know some people that said they would ignore it because they wouldn't want to have sex with the same gender, but what they don't realise is if they were attracted to the same gender, they would want to have sex with them lol.
Kinetic Blake I have looked into that, but no I'm just a jaded 42 year old woman. I've been engaged several times and I like some aspects of feeling close with someone but it's not worth the exhausting task of maintaining a relationship. (and I don't do casual sex) I'm not thrilled with humans in general anymore.
I have to agree with Karl, how many times have you agreed to a night out and when it arrives you don't fancy it and can't be bothered! I have to go out tonight but would rather spend the night in!
Agree. He's incredibly honest. From the day that we are born we are taught that we HAVE TO have fun, especially during celebrations and imposed festivities. Way to go Karl, way to go.
Seeing all their facial expressions really makes me wish we had footage of xfm shows and podcasts especially for Karl he is twice as funny when you actually see him talking.
parties are not forced fun, nor is anyone acting. if you get these feelings when you go to a party, it is not a party... it would be an awkward gathering
4:01 I just love Stephen's silent giggle here because he can feel another banger quote coming up. And surely enough, there was a banger quote right around the corner!
I saw the video, knew the name, but couldn’t remember why I knew it AND didn’t know his face. But the moment I saw Ricky Gervais it all came flooding back to me! They used to be on a radio program a friend recommended and I became addicted to it! I haven’t thought of it in years, but Karl is a comic goldmine!
I can't believe how funny that moment at 3:20 is, where Gervais says "Why you talkin' like that for Carl? How's Suzanne?" Karl's momentary second-long reaction of complete gormlessness is amazing. I am convinced he is a Genius.
"If you're not happy looking a knob in the face there's something wrong" ...Sounds like a romantic line to say to your special lady next time you whip it out..
Just watched this again for the first time in years. Had me in stitches. I think it's Karl's genuine honesty, and the way he describes things, that makes him one of the funniest people around. A national treasure. When he goes he should be buried in Westminster Abbey. I don't know if there are any philosophers in there, but if there are, stick him next to them.
I love how Steve says he had a "whale of a time" in rio during the carnival. When we know the truth, to be, he spent a day pissing in the sea, and the rest of the time with the shits in shared accommodation 🤣🤣
Totally get where hes coming from. I was proper gregarious and sociable in my youth. These days, the wife, my daughter, a couple of really close friends - at home or in a restaurant/quiet pub. Is about as party as I get. The thought of a 'party' or crowded venue where there's a load of strangers or loose acquaintances I have to fake socialise with at a set time.... it's hell.
The only thing that makes Karl so pleasant is Ricky egging him on and that insidious laugh.. most of us would just roll our eyes and say ‘what a knobhead’... and not bother
Karl is right again about parties, I went to a few as a student and felts so out of place. I tried to have a couple myself, for halloween & my 21st and hated every moment of it
Yep organised or "forced fun" can be so isolating. There are set standards for what having a good time is supposed to look like, doesn't matter how it actually feels to be there.
Totally agree with Karl. Never liked parties, its not real fun. Its organised fun, its like acting. No wonder you see someone sat in the corner alone and bored, because they're being genuine and not conforming to a loud-outgoing and drunken picture which every one thinks you ought to fit. The spontaneous events in life, when you just do something on a whim are always 10x more fun because it happened naturally. You obviously have to plan in life or even plan a little but you should never plan something thats supposed to be fun, because its just fake then… in my opinion. People who love parties could read this and say 'What? You miserable bastard?', well, to those who say that I would say my apologies, I like to have higher standards of fun.
I love his face when he claims his social experiment of non-planning was a succes, because he's getting free chicken. Ricky and Steve are laughing their heads off out of disbelief and confusion, and he's staring them in the eyes intently.
Who ever decided to take away these guys in chairs talking and submit it to a cartoon version should be sacked. This is pure gold seeing the real thing.
The Ricky Gervais show was from their podcasts etc, they weren't filmed. It's not like they had regular footage and decided to make it into an animation instead.
I totally agree with Karl on planning. When I know I've got something on, even if it's something I'll enjoy it becomes a chore in my head and I can't relax till it's done with. The best nights out are always the ones where it's like "I'm off to the pub now, you coming?" When it's been pencilled in 4 weeks ahead of schedule, I wind up almost resenting the event for the time it has taken occupying my mind. If something's been planned ahead it better be bloody good.
My only ever wish would be that a series of an idiot abroad 3 would be made. It's so so funny. I loved watching the first and second ones but no talk of a third, unless anybody knows any different. Their all great love to watch a new series of this.
3:24 "I'm not with her anymore" .... that little expression afterwards is just incredible.
Hey friend!
+schpleeb Head like a fucking orange.
It made me burst out laughing.
I laughed so hard😂😂😂
He looked like a irl version of a Lenny face. Seriously, look at it ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

+Milan Smidt its better to look at them eye to eye

The second rule of Karl Quotes is: You do not try to improve Karl Quotes.
Hiiiiilarious!!!!!
No the first rule is hit the play button and watch him, we dont need tards repeating them in the comments..
Milan Smidt I was cracking up haha. It isnt just WHAT he says, but HOW he says it xD
The improv 'do you want a chicken?' bit was amazing
the.alexo1234ss1 I’m eating your chicken. 😂
My nights better than yours im eating your chicken 😂😂😂 Comedy genius and he doesnt even try.
Karl's delivery when he says "I'm not with her anymore." kills me.
The way he tries to "sound gay":)
The world is not ready for a gay Karl Pilkington.
He tried to sound gay, and that was the perfect response to the question and it caught Ricky off guard
Love his seriousness when he says stuff like 'I'm getting a free night, of chicken'.
He is being serious lol
😂
"My night is better than yours, I'm eating your chicken." I fucking nearly died because I couldn't breathe
LOL
Ha ha

LemonZeppelin exactly! Ofcourse he can be funny too, on purpose or not.
But in the end karl pilkington is karl pilkington, and we love him for it
He plays up certain aspects based on the positive feedback loop, but as is plainly evident from the XFM days, this is pretty much genuine Karl.
People in reality are much funnier than any actor could ever be.

He is an actor, real name is Graham
"I'm eating your chicken"... Lol
4:22 that fucking noise could be a submarine Ping
F**king hell you've had me in stitches with this comment for the last 5 minutes!!
Hahahahahahahaha
oh god i laughed more at that than the video itself
omg bro I'm dying. tears are pouring down my face.
It sounds fucking identical. You could be a genius.
Should I be worried that I agree with almost everything Karl says?
Nope! I do that too :)
Yes

I agree with Karl on all points. Hate parties, hate planned fun, love spontaneous free chickens and if I woke up gay, I'd ignore it.
What do you mean by ignore it though?
Harrison Bowman I mean, it would be fine if I had sexual feelings towards women, but I wouldn't act on it. So, it doesn't matter. I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't like sex or romantic relationships. I prefer solitude.

"A free night of chicken." Oh God Karl, you're a maniac.
His face when he says it is so damn funny because he looks so serious like the situation is actually happening and not fabricated lol.
The gravitas in his voice and the expression on his face makes it even more hilarious.
I have to agree with Karl, how many times have you agreed to a night out and when it arrives you don't fancy it and can't be bothered! I have to go out tonight but would rather spend the night in!

I've listened Karl so much his voice is in my head
Why is this so enthralling? It's the funniest trio ever.
"a free night of chicken" New concept.
One of the best karl quotations imo is
'It was about a fire that didn't happen, about a wife that didn't exist, and a cat that didn't look happy'

i genuinely think Karl Pilkington is the only man on earth who could fantasize about a world in which planning was non existent
Nope
The man knows what he likes and what he doesn’t. He’s not trying to impress anyone, no filter, love it!
Karl is the most Zen person I have ever seen
3:26 Rickys laugh is everything 😅😂🤣😭💀
If Karl had the bottle, he would be a great stand up comedian, thats a great topic, the audience would love Karl.
Bule British well considering 80% of Ricky's stand up is just Karl's materiel regurgitated I think Karl would do just fine.

When the two lads slap each other while laughing they know they have got another amazing one liner from Karl, and more money.
Steve's look of anticipation, just waiting for Karl to say anything so he can laugh, love it
The glorious thing about Karl is his sincerity, he truly lives in the moment, he means what he says, then of course is hilarious take on life, genius
Its crazy how knob, chicken and gay subbjects can be so funny to talk about 🤣
i miss this trio more than i can bear

Karl should do his own movie: "The invention of planning".
Karl you're the man I love your " what's the point " attitude towards fun i often feel the same way about parties haha
@1:56 "and I'm getting a free night of chicken" - The look on Steve and Ricki's faces... Mind.Blown. Well played Karl

It's the way he explains the free night of chicken as though it's really tricky to follow that gets me.

"If you're not happy looking a knob in the face there's something wrong"

Karl Pilkington is so great. I love that guy. Funny as hell.
I love the way his mind works, He’s brilliant!

The look on Karl's face at 1.37 as he struggles with the concept of Steve joining Ricky for chicken is priceless!!!

Karl should be on chat shows every week. Great entertainment
The only thing that makes Karl so pleasant is Ricky egging him on and that insidious laugh.. most of us would just roll our eyes and say ‘what a knobhead’... and not bother
