      one tip for cooking the rice that she missed. Take basmati rice and shock it for 30-40 min before cooking & then cook the rice in water seasoned with salt and oil (make sure the water is salty must taste like sea water), what it does is give u nice fluffy rice that don't stick together also makes you rice nicely seasoned. Then cook the rice until its 90% done. after that follow the recipe Enjoy your cooking :)

      I've lived there for 3 months and I can't agree with you. Very "aggressive" spices become very easy repetitive. Even now when I cook at home my native food when I get a slight scent on something that resembles Indian food it simply does not work on me. We have also a very limited amount of spices and ingredients that are going in food, however, Indians do not know how chicken tastes as it is always dipped well into spices. The same spices are used on fish. If you smell curry or this biryani, 90% (if not more) spices are the same. Just gets into your nose and it does not work equally. Biryani (with mutton) was excellent and my most enjoyable food in those 3 months.

Thanks Maunika for simplifying this recipe for us! I am glad I did not give up.

I also cooked the rice in homemade chicken stock both times. One mug of rice to one mug of boiling stock and one mug of boiling water then simmer on low with lid on for 15 minutes I used Tilda basmati. Absolutely gorgeous

      lots to see pretty much everywhere, weather is kinda unpredictable, it gets really cold in the winter and really hot in the summer and in between theres lots of rain... people may seem a little reserved to outsiders, especially older people but that comes from the attitude of getting to know people a little rather than just having small talk. We have great food especially in bavaria and of course great beers too. And we like to drink a lot here.

      Ur too white and bland if ur into India. U won't hear Hispanics, Greek, Arab, Persian, Asian East.. Etc call India beautiful or having cuisine that has flavor..cz they created flavor and their women are already attractive .. funny how white men are dying for color gf... They score easy with what's closer to them and cheeper..aka over breeding Indians... Get a colored girl .ur life lacking color and flavor...

    Thanks! And it looks amazing !

    There are two perfect dishes...enchiladas with corn tortillas and red sauce, and chicken biryani. And I'm not sure if that's the order anymore. I grew up in California, but I've been all over the U.S., lived in Canada, in the UK...chicken biryani is perfection.

      romail john Her biryani was so tasteless that she opted for Salan (Gravy) to add some flavors to it. Who the hell eats Biryani with the Salan? As an Indian, I am offended.

    Maunika- your recipes are divine! big fan. I had a question though- when adding garam masala "raw" over the rice- won't the taste be over powering? because technically you aren't cooking out the spice. right? or am I making no sense at all

    • @nandinihegde8729
      @nandinihegde8729 7 лет назад +4

      Garam Masala powder is a mix of roasted dry spices. It doesn't need to be cooked. Also, usually it's added towards the end to retain its aroma. :)
