    *DONE!*
This is the best butter chicken I've ever cooked! Quite a bit different to my usual method, but night and day better.
Char-grilling the marinated chicken really does add a nice smokey flavor and that spoon of honey is a nice x-factor!
I used a slightly different spice set and I can't get chick-pea flour. But the result was delicious. My wife has upgraded my butter chicken to restaurant class!
    More power to food tube!

I think every time Jamie is trying to cook foreign food, he needs someone from that specific country next to him, to guide and teach him. This way we can see real food being made and honoring its origins and traditions. If not, we are going to see lots of mango chutney and chilly jams faux-pas!

@@sabumiah3421 There is nothing called curry powder. You will get cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder ( Kashmirir ed chilli powder is mostly for color, not necessary to add, normal chilli powder will do), saffron. If you do not get garam masala, you can roast cardamom, clove, cinnamon, mace, nutmeg and star anise, and then grind it, this is homemade garam masala. Fenugreek leave or pwder I am not sure though, you have to search for it.

You can use any other chilli powder or curry powder (basaar) as a substitute for the Kashmiri chilli.

smoked paprika would be good to use too alongside normal chilli powder

u can use but not sure about the color... bcz kashmiri chilli powder is the most appropriate for this dish.. its not too hot in taste but gives amazing color to curry dishes.

***** amazing, I used a curry powder as Menezhaya suggested but i'm looking for the kashmiri chilli powder to get the genuine taste. :)

clam85 You'll find Kashmiri chilli powder at a lot of Asian stores or even online. Hope that helps.

Ok, wow. I just cooked this for my parents and it was amazing! I had to use Channa flour instead of the Gram but my goodness it was amazing. Better than most Indian takeaways by a mile. I have finally made a good Indian curry ( it was one part of my cooking that I always failed in) Thanks Foodtube and great recipe Maunika!!! Believe the hype!!!!!!

I made this tonight and was really excited for it. Especially after reading the comments, but this recipe is very sweet. I would taste the sauce before adding any of the honey

    • @riderpikachu7403

Keep tasting while making. In this video she adds way too more heavy cream. Avoid the honey completely. If possible add 1 cup casew paste.

Without doubt the best most straight forward Butter Chicken recipe I have come across. Absolutely outstanding. After cooking it exactly as instructed the first time I made one tweak the second time and that was to half the cream and replace with 25 (ish) cashew nuts soaked for 10 mins in 200ml of hot water and blitzed with the water. It's now absolutely perfect. Great recipe.

Unbelievably amazing. The best butter chicken I have tried so far. Yum! The only problem was the chicken tikka turned out to be too hot. Next time, I would try cutting down on the chillies and the chilli powder for the marination. The gravy tasted superb though. Thanks Maunika and Jamie

Hello! I am so glad I stumbled upon this video, I must have played it back 5-6 times as I am making the recipe for my son who loves chicken dishes and I am vegetarian. Between Jamie and Mauneika I had a good idea of what the spices were used for and how much I would need to adjust. So far so good, I have placed the chicken for marination for 30 min. Can't wait to grill the chicken on skewers and prepare the sauce!!! So excited to see my son's face. Thanks to both of you.

I'm trying to learn Thai food now. Indian food may be next!

    • @GlebRysanov
      @GlebRysanov 5 лет назад +1

You may find that Thai food is generally much lighter and healthier, although still no less flavorful and spicy. It's a shame they don't use any diary products in their cuisine, though. Another consideration is that you can hardly do any Thai cooking without a wok and woking is an entirely different approach requiring major upgrades to your cooking techniques, mentality and kitchen equipment. A journey well worth taking! :)
BTW: deciding Jasmine vs Basmati may become a real challenge sometimes ;)
