For my tupence worth, I think Shima's torp reload should be buffed by 20 seconds at least. That'd set the cats amongst the pigeons 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for posting Trenlass, love your gameplay.
The cassard is a really nice addition to the game. you can wreck dds with the guns and have basically f3 shima torps that can also hit beyond its range for less damage
Another important piece of advice is to use your minimap when planning torps. Anticipate the path of the ship and look at the line that indicates the middle of your vision. if the crossing point is out of range... they are going to run out. 13:45 shows you how not to do it.
Yeah! And I think it's Trenlass who said, that the best way to learn when and where to torp is to play BBs. You can learn the spots and their movement!
biggest thing I've been seeing in Tier VI/VII ranked is that people don't know how to utilise their detection properly in torp dds (or dds with low detect). A lot of the maps are small and you have to think about how you use your detection. Going into caps or near islands which extend into your detection range means that something can come round the corner and instantly spot you. Your spotting as a dd is one of the most powerful attributes, so try to go for caps or areas where you can use your detect to spot other ships and outspot dds. On the other hand if you are a gun boat dd, those islands are great to use to mask the poorer concealment and surprise other dds.
I really enjoy playing torp DDs, but sometimes its really hard to carry a team with them...I lose way more games in torp boats then if i take a Gunboat!
haven't played shima since yamagiri came to the game. the capability to swap 8/20km at will is godtier. Plus the guns have to be respected a lot more by other DDs than shima's.
Thx Tren. I’m a middle age man who enjoys torp boats. I main Halland, Youyang, and Gearing. As a general rule I don’t rush caps at start of game. Rather, I take the time to help my team control/gain the flank. I regularly obtain over 200000 spotting damage.
For me it’s gun boats that are hard. If the gun boat doesn’t have smoke, I struggle to survive dd vs dd, even if I sink the enemy dd, their team guns me down before I can go dark.

imagine how much more fun DDs will be when the places can't just spot you all the time.

Hopefully PC will go the way of Legends with “plane spotting” were its mini map spotting only.

I have Yamagiri, and there are some ups and downs. How do you find it? Maybe @trenlass could make a guide about it too ;)
