    Hi Kyle, I got made Permanently Medically Unfit due to having antibiotics for chest infections in the past. Am gutted seems unfair. Watching your video I got to have 2nd chance to appeal it's my last chance for it, I've been for a chest x-ray had my GP state I've got no medical conditions. I am stumped praying for the right decision. I've got a daughter on the way trying to forge a good career to support my family. Thanks for the advice It is great only one I found with really help.

      It sounds like you’ve done all the right things for your second appeal. Get as much medical evidence as possible, write your own cover letter explaining your side of the story and maybe add in why you want to join.
      Fingers crossed for you mate, sounds like you have a good chance to me.

      @@KyleSmithFIT would I address the backing letter "Dear Sir/Ma'am"? And when they initially see your medical form and send the rejection, is that because the doctors at Lichfield just see certain conditions and that triggers the "rejection" category? Is it quite black-and-white at that stage?
      With the appeal, do doctors actually properly read what evidence you've sent in to counteract their decision?

    • @KyleSmithFIT
      @KyleSmithFIT  2 года назад +1

      @@nkotecha25 yeah when you get rejected they don’t dig into your records, when you appeal they look further at the evidence. Yes they look at it properly when you appeal that’s why it takes around 4-6 weeks to get an answer. It’s all done on a case by case basis so if your evidence proves what you are saying and the GP has back it with evidence you will have a good shot of getting it overturned.

    Hi Kyle, great video, I've had a medical rejection from clear history of chronic Back pain and anxiety, the description is very detailed and doesn't relate to what I've experienced, for example: the back pain was from the construction industry, muscular but fixed from private treatment recommended by the doctor, the anxiety descriptions weren't close and don't even feel those symptoms anymore, I'm collecting the evidence with a supporting letter, could you shed any light on this at all? Thank you Kyle your videos are really good.

    Hello Kyle, I applied to become an Officer and I was medically rejected due to a past ACL reconstruction, I understood that there could be a chancce that this would definitely be an issue. I went through the entire appeal process and did exactly what you have mentioned in your video before actually even coming across it. I got to the level 2 appeal and had evidence from my GP and even surgeon with X-rays, letters and other evidence that the surgery was a success and I had made a full recovery but none the less, this wasn't enough and I have set my views on a different future. But it still bugs me and I don't want to give up as I have been preparing physically and mentally for the past 4 years to join his majesty's armed forces. I even have proof of current serving members that have the same issue as I have but are deemed fit to serve. I'm a bit lost as I had originally intended for a career in the armed forces even if it was not starting out as an officer. Any feedback from you would be much appreciated, cheers.

    • @KyleSmithFIT

      I’ve had ACL reconstruction my self mate, I would guess the reasoning behind the rejection is the strength of your artificial ACL is around 60% the strength of your original.
      They probably rejected you because there will be a high probability of it going again given the army training, weight carrying etc.

    Hi Kyle, First of all I just want to say thank you for posting this it has been a great help. I am currently assisting my son to appeal against his rejection in to Harrogate Army College due to him having Aspergers on his medical record which he was diagnosed at the age of 10 (now 16)
    We have had consultation with a private Clinical Psychologist to determine if my son still meets the Autism spectrum which they have concluded he does not (we have this in writing) we have been offered a full in depth diagnosis done if we want to strengthen our case but we are thinking of appealing just with the consultation letter, if this is not enough then we go for the full in depth diagnosis but on his rejection letter it says “this will be your only chance to appeal” - in your video you say mentioned that you have two chances to appeal? Can you confirm this or tell me how I find out for sure? Even the Army careers office weren’t sure?

    Hi Kyle, Thankyou for this video. I haven’t applied yet as I’m worried about committing and being rejected. I am a physio looking to apply for reserves. I also have ADD, I did 5 months off medication and did well as my routine is good nowadays. I am now taking medication again for the past week as I have some masters level exams coming up. It does not state adhd is an issue on army medical but RAF and Navy want you symptom and medication free for a long time.
    Is this the same in the army? Or are they more lenient? I feel like if I can just show them how good I am at work they would wave my issue but I feel I could not even get the chance

    Hi Kyle, I thank you for making this video, I got medically rejected today from the Army because I sustained a serious Labral Tear to my shoulder joint with also tendons being damaged causing my shoulder to continuously dislocate. However, I had a Shoulder surgery back in Dec 2020 and my shoulder has not dislocated ever since, even doing while doing a heavy contact sport such as Boxing. I know myself that my shoulder is back to a good level of strength now and was just wondering if you had any advice as to how I’d go about this appeal?

      Ummm, I’m not 100% sure mate. I know that ACL surgery never gives back 100% of the original ligament strength (had it myself). This maybe the reason why you cannot get past the initial stages, if I was you would just call your local armed forces careers office and see what they advice.

    Hi Kyle. My son has just been rejected on the basis of his ADHD. Reason given he needs to be symptom and treatment free for 12 months. He hasn’t taken medicine since aged 16, he’s now nearly 21. He did ask his GP to be referred for support for this back in March last year, although the GP did not do this until August which they put on his medical information record. We plan to speak to his GP asking for this information to be corrected and will send in his appeal. This referral was never followed up on as he changed his mind and felt he managed well daily without support. My question is how can we prove he’s ‘symptom’ free because this will never be the case with ADHD. It is something he’s grown with and manages. It does not impact on what he does, he lives independently and always worked without issues. It’s never stopped him from doing anything. In fact he can be more focused and driven because it. He manages his ADHD without medication and the structure of army life would be perfect for him. Can you offer any advice? Many thanks

    • @KyleSmithFIT
      @KyleSmithFIT  2 года назад +3

      You need to speak with his GP and get him to write you a letter confirming what you have just said. This will then shorten his deferral till march if they accept it. I would also ask him to write you did not follow up with the referral, this may get the deferral removed completely but I very much doubt it.
      Also ask his doctor to write on the letter that he is symptom free, hopefully he can do this for you. This is probably the only way to confirm it. You could also require his GP to see a specialist to confirm he has no symptoms, but this would probably take a long time.
      Basically the GP needs to be on side and to write a really good letter, this will give him the best possible chance of getting things overturned.
      Hope this helps, good luck.

    Hi mate, I was recently deferred for further medical evidence, due to a broken leg and low mood, they sent me some forms asking for more information, but the only information I have is the one they have already received from my medical records from my GP. I’ve been honest on the forms stating the low mood was from a grandparent passing so it’s bereavement and my leg is good to go as I’ve got my surgeon (ex MO) to write me a letter. This isn’t an appeal but I’m unsure of what further medical evidence I can supply on the low mood front? I was medically discharged in 2020 after serving 6 years, due to my leg but that’s now been overturned and am able to join again but they still want further evidence? Any help would be much appreciated mate,

    However I disagree with this private doctor and also, this happened once in 2017 when I was 17 years old (I’m 22 years old now) so this was over 5 years ago. I have no history of self harm or suicide attempts either and this was just the once. However my army doctor wants my private letters and god knows what they say. What should I do?

      I have actually just had the same operation but I did mine as soon as I left the military. I do know of people that have had reconstruction of their ACL whilst serving but it’s different if you are already serving because they kinda have to look after you.
      All you can do is try to appeal, speak to your doctor, physio and get them to write you a letter saying you a fit and able to conduct any exercise.
      It maybe pretty tough as once you have torn the ACL and had reconstruction it’s never has strong as it initially is😓.

    Last night I got medically rejected because of “Athsma” and I say that with quotatiob marks because I was never actually diagnosed with it, I was 8 years old and had a panic attack due to my father being very ill and me having a lot of stress at a young age and I had to go into hospital. I was there for about a week and discharged with no problems at all. Anyway back to present day I have been clear of breathing issues for over 7 to 8 years now with no doctors appointment or anything or need of an inhaler to breathe and I’ll admit that I’m not the fittest individual but all over 2km runs, cadet bleep tests and swims not once have I had an athsma attack in my life. I’m going to appeal to this and I’ll come back and update as soon as I get information. Wish me luck! Thanks for your service aswell Kyle 🇬🇧❤️

      @KyleSmithFIT  2 года назад

      ok, this is normally something quite easy to get overturned.
      Firstly have you been using an inhaler or been prescribed one over the last 2 years? If no, then all you require to do is go to your doctor and ask them to write you a letter confirming you have not suffered with any asthmatic problems since....
      If the doctors are being a pain just keep on at them, they are required to do this for you, sometime you may have to pay a fee of like £15.
      If you have been using an inhaler, you need to go to your doctors and cancel the prescription and get him to write on your medical docs you no longer require it, from then you just need to wait for the deferral period which i am sure is 1 year now but maybe 2 years, this has just recently changed.
      hope this help.

    I don’t not suffer with pain or anything that stops me doing everything in fitness or weight. I can 100% carry out all military tasks without anything stopping me.

I was lifting weights and felt a pull and had pain for 3-4 weeks. I had an MRI scan and all tests, they all came back clear. The pain cleared up and I have been fine since.
    I am a boxer and athlete, I train 6 days week, and have had no pain to the point that I had completely forgotten about it until the army brought it up.

    I got rejected last year because of my aspergers. I have a mild diagnosis and it does not affect my day to day life and my ability to perform at my job. I’m going to appeal this soon, what’s the best way to do this?

    • @KyleSmithFIT
      @KyleSmithFIT  2 года назад +1

      Go to your GP get him to write you a letter confirming what you just said. The Army are normally very strict on aspergers but, if you have trouble getting through the medical process i would definitely look at the Royal Navy, they seem to be more lenient.

    Hello, I received a PMU 4 months ago for '4K.50.c. Candidates with any episode of chronic back pain lasting 12 weeks or more are normally UNFIT' (issue was over 5 years ago... so frustrating), there was no time frame mentioned in the original letter, so I've taken my time to build a strong appeal. It includes a doctors letter, the physiotherapist that treated me for the issue and a 13-week exercise diary. Regarding submitting my appeal I can't find the email address on the PMU letter, my exercise diary is an excel spreadsheet so this cannot be posted. Any advice? Thank you!

    • @KyleSmithFIT
      @KyleSmithFIT  2 года назад +1

      It is normally at the bottom of your rejection letter mate, you can also speak to the careers office they should be able to get it for you. I would print your exercise diary off if possible to help you give more evidence.

      @@KyleSmithFIT hi Kyle, I'm a brit who's been living in New Zealand for the past years and i only have medical records from the NHS up to 2011. I never used a GP in New Zealand and my current UK gp noted they don't have access to my full records. I got differed because of this. Any advice since I literally have no other records to show?

    I was wondering if there is time limit in which you can appeal? because I got my message from the army on the 5th of November and I only realised recently that I needed a letter directly from my GP because the Army message did not state explicity that I needed one. My GP is currently on leave until next Wednesday and I do not want to miss the appeal time given to me.

    Hi mate thanks for this video, I was rejected from the army due to “chronic anxiety” and given the option to appeal, March 2020 I went to my GP and told him that I thought I had anxiety and he referred me to a mental health team, they told me after 1 session that I would not Benefit from this and so I stopped using it. I don’t believe I have anxiety just low confidence and my GP has written in notes on my records that I believe this issue was due to low confidence not anxiety, currently waiting for him to write me a letter supporting the appeal this was the only time I had gone to the doctors about mental health, do you have an opinion on this ? Thanks

    • @KyleSmithFIT
      @KyleSmithFIT  3 года назад +2

      In most cases if you just have one episode of poor mental health on your record the rejection can normally be overturned. Good luck mate, let me know how you get on 👊
