I just got a used super slim, cleaned it fully even washed the motherboard and replaced thermal paste using arctic mx-4. Temps are same as yours even while downloading and browsing game store
Really nice to see those results, really good job. The only problem I see is the dust that it will come inside the console with time. That might be dangerous. I'm gonna do something similar to mines, but I want to cool it down even more, specially the PSU. And maybe add an external thermal sensor with display. Again, good job in showing us how the temps decrease.
@@CRMgamindreamsIt's not crazy fast. But it is better. Load times are a little quicker and there is not as much texture pop in. The reason it is not super fast is because the PS3 only has a Sata 1 port. So it can only read at 185mbps. So if you put an SSD in the PS3 it will only be able to read that fast. No matter how fast your SSD is. Even with that being said. It is still faster than a HDD. Cause with an SSD you don't have to wait for the disk to spin up and the little arm to go and find the data you're looking for. With an SSD it can find the data instantly, cause it's all digital, no moving parts. So even though the PS3 can only read and write at 185mbps, it will still be slightly faster than a HDD cause it can access the needed information instantaneously. So... In the end. It is a cool little upgrade, but, not a necessary one. I did it to mine though personally cause a 500Gb SSD is not that expensive, and the slightly faster load times and such are very welcome.
Great concept with factual results cooling wise, although it would introduce more dust into the console? Unless you can fit those replaceable mesh filters the pc cases have these days ✌️
Thanks! And yes, dust is an issue but I usually clean my consoles regularly so I'm used to it lol The replaceable fan mesh is a great idea, specially the magnetic ones could be easier to use and replace

I don't think that this extra hole is going to ruin airflow in other areas, specially taking into consideration the low airflow they had before. To me, it doesn't seem to be a huge difference and I never had any overheating issues.
@@JediGamingXDude if you still have the PS3. That is an easy fan replacement. The reason you need to spin the fan manually is because one or 2 of the elctromagnets have died. Coils must've burned out. So it can't spin the fan itself. If you're confident in disassembling your PS3 the fan is not that hard to take apart and replace. Cause there is no fixing that fan.
@@Group-935 the reason I don't want to dig in that deep is because one you get to the fan, you have to disassemble the motherboard meaning new paste must be replaced. Day's after my comment 3 year's ago i got a Slim. The damaged fan is a super slim which i still have.
@@JediGamingX Okay... I can understand that. Not wanting to go through all the hassle of taking apart the whole system. Gotcha. I've done it before it's time consuming and a bit a work. Okay then. Peace man. Just thought I'd give you some advice.
I don't think it's possible, maybe for the CPU heatsink you could, but the GPU heatsink has closed fins that only let air from the front to the back and it's nowhere near 120mm tall. I'd keep the stock fan because it just blows the air in the right direction, and with this mod and good thermal paste just makes the fan not spin up to high noise levels
But why? Why would you do this? Super slims have no overheating problems unless you have so much dust, which you could simply clean out. A much better alternative is webman on HEN on super slims or CFW on on fats and some slims.

Would have been nice if you had told us how you monitor your temps. I just though that was something ps3 already had in menu. Now i gotta download shit? No thanks.
This was done in HAN days, now with the existence of HEN you can use Movían for example, or WebMAN Mod. But nope, PS3s are not meant to show that info stock

MGOFor3ver u can add a dust cover mesh
Even a 1TB solid state drive is great for the PS3 Super Slim.
Do those work well? Noticeably faster than normal ones or rather small difference?
Would be a total waste, we are talking about 2005 actual hardware, ps3 wont take advantage of those speeds in a hard drive.

To makes holes in case is not a good for other electrical components, because you change airflow from the case, i use webman and increase speed fun.

Is there a video outlining it running under load?
I didn't have HEN at the time of recording, so I couldn't measure temperatures in-game using WebMAN.
TECHNOBEAR that’s very fair
Could the extra intake hole in that one spot negatively affect the overall airflow and overheat other areas of the PS3?
