I do ballet and even if the turn was good you can feel on your body when something doesnt fell right, like if your foot was placed in a way you usually dont place it or if your hands werent wide or closes enough, it just matters on how the person knows wnd views themselves as a dancer!
I freaked out when you said Sophia Lucia, because I STAN her!!😂 And Sophia was the only one who took ballet seriously after competition dance, so her technique with turns was great after her comp days lol
You have improved so much and are so good at dancing. God has definitely blessed you, is proud of you, and He loves you so much, which He showed through His Son. Keep up the good work❤️❤️❤️
You have serious skills! 👍🏻 I have been enjoying your videos and love that you are so willing to share your achievements as well as your “oops” moments.
to me this shows that having a solid ballet technique goes along way, its a good foundation to have when you move or try other styles it's a lot easier,
Kenzie, can u plz teach us the Nutcracker dance, or watch a tutorial on YT and show us? It’s that time of year where I’m listening to a lot of Nutcracker music and I love it! 😍🎄
Oh my gosh, Mackenzie! You are literally a turning queen in my opinion. The turns at the end too, like you thought they were bad and I’m just sitting here in bed thinking “I can’t even do one turn...” 😍
So I’ve been doing ballet for a little bit but I also do dance at school like jazz, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical basically like all of the “genres” ( obviously I do it thru zoom cuz of rona) and like bc of ballet I’ve gotten used to doing turns with my feet turned out and when I’m doing the school dance we do jazz turns so we do it in parallel and it sometimes feels weird bc I’m so used to turned out feet. 🙈😂
i can do a ballet double but usually kinda sloppy, i never get my legs in the right position its kinda annoying (update: my pirouettes are fine, im learning fouettés now!)
@@simonjackson4968 maybe??? I don't know much about jazz, but I think it would fit for styles that use hard shoes, like tap maybe? I just don't think it's doing contemporary any favours, though that may just be my opinion 😂
As a dancer fully qualified in jazz dance, I can confirm that parallel is a HUGE deal in jazz. Most set turns in jazz exams are done in parallel, and it's because jazz is more about overall facials, acting energy, and bringing your "WOW" factor. You still do exercises and moves in 'turn-out' for jazz (barre work, plies, sautes, etc), but it's just not as highly recommended as in ballet. The higher level you are for jazz, the more advanced the turn sequences become, and they make you do full on fouettes in turn out and pique turns, so yeah lol. Contemporary is like the ONE style that pretty much denies all logic, and goes against most other styles and forms of 'proper' technique. Unless it's for safety reasons, or set exercises/combinations, a lot of it is done in parallel, which is very ugly lol, but is normal for most contemporary dancers. I transitioned into ballet this year, and it was quite tricky to grasp that EVERYTHING is done in 'turn-out'. Luckily for me, I already had pretty decent turn-out, because it would have been a lot harder for me otherwise. A lot of the other girls in my class are jazz, contemporary, or hip hop trained, so they're all struggling with turn-out, and rightly so. It's not easy at all and I've had my fair share of trouble with it.😂
try doing a single or double parallel pirouette before going into the seconds! it’ll give you a lot more power to hold those floats for longer! i would also be counting in your head if you aren’t already, it helps me with my momentum. (ballet/contemporary/comp teacher here!)
If you want to try even harder turns I recommend referencing Kennedy Paige. She just posted a quad illusion combo. She honestly one of the best turners I've seen.
Hi mackenzie!!! I was just gonna say that something you might wanna add to you feet care section on amazon is skin flex band-aids!! They move great with your skin and dont get all crinkled! I believe they are waterproof as well! So they are great with blisters or anything! Love your vids!! 💓
You don’t necessarily need to dig your back foot when prepping. That’s a stylistic thing, decided differently by different choreographers (which got confusing at times). I prefer to prep with a narrower stance & smaller plié with both heels down for parallel turns. It makes it easier to immediately be on my leg because I hardly have to shift weight.
Autumn Miller is one of my favorite dancer 💙 You did a great job don't worry 💜 p.s : I used to watch "Autie Free style Friday" too when I was younger 🙊💜
I've been doing ballet for almost 12 years and what my advice is don't teach yourself, you will get hurt. The human body is not supposed to do literally anything done in ballet and there is a very specific way to hold yourself that will minimize damage. I don't know how old you are starting at but just give it a go with professional help. Ballet is a wonderful art and I'm so happy I do it, however, injuries are common even with actuall classes.
I think u should go and get lessons from a professional, u can get seriously injured, i havent doing ballet for that long, i have been doing it for 3 years now almost 4. It doesnt matter what age u start ballet, if u have a passion for it u can do it!
I started teaching myself but I eventually got help from some friends and then enrolled in a studio I highly suggest at least trying a studio I was able to teach myself contortion but definitely try to get help from teachers and friends Hope this helped☺️☺️
I really just like watching ballet but am a massive dance moms fan too. However I never took dance and to me it seems like ballet is harder so wouldnt this be quite easy for a ballet dancer?
actually competitions fuettes while maybe being easier than ballet a la secondes have a very different feel because you have to hold your leg out and make sure that it very turned out.
this video was so interesting and you should make a series but next time if you can put the original video of the move in so we can see compared to you
As a competitive dancer I just wanna say that don't worry a lot of the time our turns aren't turned in LMAO. It's usually only in jazz, other than that it stays turned out.

@Madison Friederichs I understand that. It's just interesting to non-dancers who can't even tell what's bad.

I loved this video because it really shows how even if you’re focused on competition or jazz dance, you still need a good ballet base
I love her face while she's turning😂 No longer a dancer but I can relate lol
Coming from a competition dancer that was pretty dang good!
