    I wake up this morning in a good mood. Happy to see a new Dr. Kwon video. And then in the end . . . .totally triggered.

    Dr. Kwon has jokes! “If you don’t generate enough speed in the backswing, then the whole world collapses.” 😂 great lesson, so much to learn from. Thank you!

    Now I know why it's so hard for me to play golf consistently. It would take me more time than I have to get better. I will try though.

    Thank you Dr. Kwon! This channel is so helpful. When you say “slow down the backswing actively” do you mean I should be doing something to slow down the back swing at the top or does it slow down naturally? Thank you! 56:12

    • @drkwongolf
      @drkwongolf  Год назад

      It should slow down automatically as your body cannot turn forever. See the whole BS as a continue motion with acceleration initially and then deceleration towards the top.

    Thanks for another informative video, Dr. Kwon. Would love to know which pros - past or present - you believe best has a body-driven swing.

      I use Grant Waite's 2015 swing as a model. There may be better swings out there but I don't the need to replace his swing with someone else's. ^_^
      Measuring Rory McIlroy's swing is on my wish list.

    Thanks for sharing another great reprogramming session Dr. Kwon! Around 53:30 when you mentioned his MOI being lower than normal...was that something you measured (off camera), or just going by feel? Any guidelines we can use to think about shaft weight/overall driver weight to find our best fit?

    • @drkwongolf
      @drkwongolf  Год назад

      He went through a swing analysis before the reprogramming session. We measured the MOI, mass, and the swing weight of his club.
      MOI: 2984.2 kg.cm^2
      Mass: 319.9 g
      Swing weight: 446.9 gf

    Love your channel Dr Kwon. What you’re teaching is swinging on the same plane for the downswing and the backswing, but doesn’t this go against what the pros do, in their downswing they tend to have the shaft a little more horizontal than it in the backswing?

    • @drkwongolf
      @drkwongolf  Год назад +1

      The swing plane the golfer needs to develop through the repeated swings is the shallowed plane. In a normal swing, the hands are placed lower than the swing plane at the beginning of the BS and golfers tend to bring the club higher in the BS so that they can shallow later. In the continuous swing, you are already working on the actual swing plane by using continuous swings.

    why doesn't Kwon us force plates since he bases swing drills on pushing off left and right sides to start the action....it might help quantify the process...

    • @drkwongolf
      @drkwongolf  Год назад +1

      It is too much a distraction. We use the plates for research data collection but not for reprogramming.

    Dr kwon are you explaining feel or real when you say to not use the arms? Brain scan data seems to suggest pros actually start with their arms. Also the angles between the arms and the waist close throughout the downswing indicating the chest and arms are rotating faster than the waist. Which seems in contradiction to not using them.

    • @drkwongolf
      @drkwongolf  5 месяцев назад

      I don't agree with the statement that pros start with their arms. It depends on the swing style employed. Upper-body driven swing and lower-body driven swing have some distinct differences in different areas.
      The arms should be used in the swing but the downswing needs to be initiated more by the body muscles than the arm muscles.
      I guess what I emphasize is the right image of swing. (You may call this 'feel.')

    Hi Dr. Kwon, how thick is the rope that you use? It’s a nylon rope?

    • @drkwongolf
      @drkwongolf  Год назад +1

      3/4" double braid nylon rope. 7' long.

    You mentioned him practicing for two weeks before hitting balls (he’s a pro), so would you recommend an amateur of scratch level to do the progression from 2/1/0 every day say 25 swings apiece in perpetuity - since an amateur has limited practice time anyway? Any downside to doing these drills every day as a progression (so - 100 reps if one adds 25 of regular swing) instead of banging balls?

    • @drkwongolf
      @drkwongolf  Год назад +3

      I say the same thing to an amateur. 2-3 weeks, 1 hr/day. This motion pattern is pretty natural so will acquire the pattern quickly unless distracted by the ball. ^_^

    Love how the pro's have to go through the same steps as any old hacker out there. They just have better coordination to get away with the flaws but I am yet to hear Dr Kwan say: "your back swing is too fast" to anybody :-)

    I just got your rope and have been watching your videos. While there is a lot of great nuanced information would it be safe to say simply swinging the rope alone will promote better swing mechanics? That is of course if applying the basic fundamentals as taught in your videos.

    • @drkwongolf
      @drkwongolf  Год назад

      Yes. Just pay attention to the motion of the end of the rope. Maintain good tension in the rope all the time by moving the rope reasonably fast.

      Whether you are a novice or professional, still the basics is important. My job as a biomechanist is reprogramming of the movement pattern. If you prefer meaningless reading of numbers off a mobile device, just stick to it. No need to watch my channel.
