I haven't seen a better explanation of this key golf move anywhere. Certainly not one that teaches a natural flow and generation of momentum together like this.
    A fantastic video. Thank you!

Too much of golf instructions today focus on the swings “micro” positions which results in frustration when trying to tie all of the pieces together. Thank you for showing us a recipe to incorporate something as innate as walking into our swings.

Dr. Kown, I am predicting you will have the golfing world following you in a very short time. Your research is so very much appreciated, and your teaching style (and drills) is phenomenal. I will be working on “reprogramming” my mind, body, and swing, after years of ingrained faults and bad habits. THANK YOU!!

Golf is motion and sequence not exact positions. As the great Sam Snead said, its rhythm. Also as he observed, great players play from the feet up. That is what Dr.Kwon teaches. Anybody who masters what he is showing here, will play better. As sure as there's a sun and a moon. The best players simplify and dumb it down. True genius is simplistic.

Dr. KWON!!! I have been studying your videos daily. I have been practicing as well and I must say, this video is a perfect way for me to get the feel of what you are teaching. The way you are showing the, step turn tempo has helped me feel the disassosiciation of my upper and lower body. I feel the energy moving smoothly now. I can ride the rhythm 😎

    Dr. Kwong,
Thank you for your excellent Shift-Turn video. This is the only clear & precise teaching on using the body instead of arms to swing the golf club. There have been countless videos coachings around but none show the correct way how not to use the arms. Turn your shoulder, loosen up your arms/grip, etc, etc, all lead to frustrations & failure. I have spent the past 4 weeks practicing ( almost daily) by following your Shift-Turn video & finally I understand the essence of golf movement bio-mechanic. I have been playing golf for over 30years in frustration, 30 years' practice on the wrong move only worsening the result! Hence, my saying: "driving a taxi for 30 years does not make one a GrandPrix driver." Cannot thank you enough!
    Salute to you, Dr. Kwong!

After watching most if not all of Dr. Kwon’s videos, one thing I have learned is that my rhythm and balance stink. Retraining the body and the handsy-arm swing that older people tend to use, is not an easy thing to do at age 75. But, slow and steady progress on the proper fundamentals is SO much better than the quick-fix “tips” that so many golf instructors and magazines tend to recommend.
    👍👍 for Dr Kwon

EVERY golfer learning to swing a golf club should be encouraged to watch this video. In fact, this should be mandatory instruction by every swing coach out there. I literally used this video like one of those old Jack LaLane exercise videos. I put it on the big screen and moved along with Dr Kwon from beginning to end as he instructed. Not only was it extremely informative, but it was a lot of fun. Thank you, Dr. Kwon

I’m in now for a long winter of step and turn! When standing in the swing posture I am still having some problems initiating the motion for the back swing or back step. The small initiating trigger is not coming along as easy as I would like. Will continue to work on that. Thanks again. Jerry

Thank you so much Dr Kwon. From watching just a few of your videos, I've improved so much. My consistency was so bad, and I couldn't hit the ball properly, my every swing was different. I stoped playing golf for 2 years, but only recently came back to it. However, I almost gave up because I just couldn't get it right. (My golf level is very beginner level. I struggled with every club, but was mostly practicing irons.) But my boyfriend introduced me to your channel, and I just watched your playlist up until this video, suddenly my consistency was up to about 90%. I just can't believe it. I'm still astonished until now. Thank you so much! I now enjoy golfing very much.

There so many things that we many times take granted, which end up our missing a chance of drilling down to enhance any further. Many golfers seem to think that they are already aware of ground reaction force just because they have frequently heard from YT golf channels, but they might not appreciate its authentic value for more effective golf swing and try other ways in vain. Through thus channel, I just came to realize that GRF is the best weapon for most of the amateur golfers to catch up professional golfers in terms of effective swing mechanism. This swing drill presented by Dr.Kwon here is the only one I and my wife will pursue to do home. I believe this year will surely be most blessed one when I and my wife would see a totally new golf world in field. Thanks a lot for the awesome contents, Dr. Kwon.

    • @drkwongolf
      @drkwongolf  2 года назад

Haha thanks! In fact, poor golfer-ground interaction is the cause of a lot of problems you see later in the DS in the upper body. It is hard to improve the swing without improving the way the golfer interacts with the ground.

Thanks Dr. Kwong for sharing your knowledge and explaining how to use my body (rather than my arms) to swing. Your instruction about starting my swing using my feet to create the force to begin my backswing and to counter that backswing force and start my body driven downswing has allowed me to create a great club lag powered from the torque stored up in my backswing. Pointing out the need to keep my back towards the target during the swing transition into my downswing has given me what feels like a much more powerful (yet natural and effortless feeling) swing.

Dr Kwon. I started watching your lessons about a month ago. The rope swing and “Shurn”are fantastic drills for learning to use your body and legs to move the club. Thank you. In both drills, you move the arms left or they start left (for a right handed golfer) before commencing the swing. This gives you natural momentum to start the backswing. However I think a question many would have is how to best ”trigger” the swing when addressing a ball with a club. You can’t move left to initiate the backswing without hitting the ball. Harvey Penick talked about “swinging the bucket” and suggested a slight forward press at address. What do you recommend? And again thanks.

Hi Dr. Isn’t every step you teach made possible by an effective pendulum motion of our naval area rocking back and forth. If it were not for our stomach muscles and oblique none of what you teach would have been physically possible for humans to do.
Gary Players was the first professional golfer to say that we don’t walk to the next hole with our hands and wrists so why any golfer swings their club that way; he said they were crazy to do so.
So instead Gary taught us all that the swing centered power house is all in our stomach muscles.
Thank you Dr K for teaching me how to activate my stomach muscles. Although I wished I listen to Gary Players years ago. Cheers 😃👍⛳️.

Next chance I have I will actually start with the step from the get go, and I think the backswing will match that intention perfectly.
After all, you have to shift weight to right side first before you take a step with the left. (Otherwise its called falling.) And since gravitational force is a constant, the backswing time will be determined on how hard you initially push against the ground. It will take a discreet time to settle back down and into that left sided step. Since we are very familiar intrinsically in our bodies with gravity and related timing aspects, we should be able to finish the backswing right on time. :)
Thanks for giving me a little mental push, so I can have new ideas! :)

Beauty of a video. This should take alot of the thinking/swing thoughts out of the swing. Notice how you shouldnt think of rotating or opening your hips. If the sequence is correct it will just happen.

Dr. Kwon - thank you for such great insight combining scientific data with clear actionable practice drills ! Listening to every word to try to capture accurately your insights . Question : does the correct swing have 3 pushing motions (?) : 1) push outward on the lead foot to initiate the turn , 2) pushing outward on the trail foot to initiate the body shift to the target , and finally 3) pushing downward on lead foot to initiate the raise of pelvis and turning of hips . I'm confused on pushing outwards vs pushing upwards . thanks

Push downward and outward at the same time.

I have practised this for a month the pwer i generate is quite amazing once i got the Torque idea and the sequence it works for the short shots with wedges really well for consistency by just turning the same amount and varying the club to get consistent yardages ,,,,really great system 👍 😀 👏
