Love how he has no regard for covenant bodies when he's boarding the ship, but every marine he comes across, he just slows down and picked up a weapon from them as respectfully as possible in the situation, almost like a last "thankyou" such a small detail in an intro made to be fast paced and epic. Kinda gives him an almost human emotion...for a brick....

Remembering how chief dragged himself to recover the chip when the game tells you there is no AI on the chip gave me chills.

I remember some saying Chief is weak in that cutscene but... Remember Red Team?? They're all Spartan II's also and are below, if not equal to, Blue Team and they got their asses handed and couldn't fight back at all
That was probably Atriox's first real fight against an enemy that fought back hand to hand without a weapon and was strong enough to make him move and feel pain from punches
@@uphi-downlow5792 Exactly, Red Team was still groggy from cryo and Atriox completely ambushed them in close quarters, but the Chief here was already in combat so he was able to anticipate it better

Those 3 spartans were in cover by cover formation with their lights out and motion sensors active. And Atriox literally appears in front of them like magic. It was dumb and made no sense that 3 pros like this would get jumped in this fashion. How did he even get close to them in that room without them noticing??? Close quarters??? The room was huge enough to fit 100 people lol. They also had chances to shoot his face and didn't take the opportunity. It was a dumb shot and you know it. Also dark and filled with quick cuts. Glad that game only sold 200kish copies. It was a bad micro transaction game just like halo 5. Use your eyes! Also... Why would a leader do this? Talk about a major risk to his position and goals as a military leader...

Then you look at the fight with atriox and chief and chief was clearly busy shooting some grunts when atrioxes hammer comes out of no where by surprise. You call chief being ready for that here? LOL!

@@sirsanti8408 I never played Halo Wars 2, as I hate RTS gameplay and Halo Wars 1 sucked. To me he is just another Brute, he got nothing on the Didact or the threat of Cortana. The fact that the Banished who are basically just Covenant light demolished everything is absolutely ridiculous and a huge insult to the forerunner storyline. And now the endless are gonna be revealed... like YAWN!! Thanx for ruining a potential masterpiece.

I honestly hadn’t given it much thought. But given his situation it does make sense. He likely saw it as being better to go out on his own terms than starving or succumbing to dehydration or asphyxiation when and if the life support systems failed.

Iirc, at one point in time it was actually standard issue for American pilots to have a pistol with one round for that exact purpose. This is just a reference to that.
Playing through it, I cannot explain how much fun the first mission was. The rest of the game I’ve played so far has done just as well.

I saw the infinity being destroyed and Chief getting his ass kicked and was immediately 100% into the story.
Opposite. Made me mad that they wrote the game this way. Chief shoulda whooped his ass which in turn would give the silly mouthy brute in this game a much bigger motivation to want to fight chief. The emotion would have stuck better. But whatever lol... Opinions.

I love how it immediately starts off from the H5 legendary cutscene and continues foward; weird to think that was technically our first view at infinite!
There’s actually a 6 month gap, this goes more or less off of the ending of the book “Shadows of Reach”

At least they learned their lesson on how Spartans should look like fighting, not that shite in the chief vs Locke halo 5 cutscene. Now we just need more of it.

Chief Vs Locke made no sense, while Chief Vs Atriox on the other hand does. Atriox took on Red Team and Blue Team, beating both of their asses, so Chief being defeated by Atriox made a whole lot more sense. Not to forget that Atriox became a proper threat to The Covenant.
That was the equivalent to a high school fight between 2 jocks

You know I love when Atriox is dragging Chief and he hits the Warthog, it crumbles due to his weight. Including the railing. It actually make the armor look like it weighs 1000lbs.

@@JoeMama-rv9wl Even though we know what the lore says, it has been a common issue for both movies and games to forget that objects and people have SIZE and WEIGHT to them. A decent example is comparing between Pacific Rim 1 vs Pacific Rim in how the sky scraper mechs that are supposed to also weigh hundreds of thousands of pounds move and are present.
OP is just pointing out that the warthog crumpling inwards helps towards the immersion that atriox is tossing around a 1000lbs spartan. It is an extra detail that many companies have missed that helps blend the story even better vs if they just animated the warthog being undamaged and Chief bouncing off.
TL;DR we all know spartans are 1000lbs but attention to detail allows you visually digest this fact

man gotta tell you, as a father that shit hit me so hard thinking of not being able to see your family for years and getting a message like that man. it was well done to bring some good emotion. I also just completed this game and oh my god man! well fucking made! on part 100% to halo 1 2 and 3, such a great fucking story and gameplay!
I think that pilot intro is one of the best video game scenes ever. The cinematography and sound of it is just unreal. Definitely hit me hard too right away.

Agreed. Three Spartan II's each with identical training and augments to Chief, barely stood a chance against Atriox. If anybody was going to be able to ko Chief in a 1v1, then it's Atriox. It's believable since Atriox was already established as being able to take on Spartan II's and win.

The REAL return of chief since halo 3/4 would have landed better if he killed atriox here. Show the baddies who the real king of the galaxy is. But 343 can't write so... It wasn't as bad ass as it could have been.
Also atriox sort of jumped the chief while he was busy cappin grunts and jackels. Not a very honorable fight bro...

@@soyborne.bornmadeandundone1342 Chief is a human. Just because he's literally saved the galaxy doesn't mean he's got superman abilities. The only thing that saves him, in his own words, is good tactics and training, which makes every Spartan such a powerful weapon, but him especially so. Chief got caught off guard, and was punished for it. The Banished never even took losses during their war with the Covenant (which started before the Covenants war with humanity) so they're much more powerful than any enemies Chief has ever faced. It completely makes sense that Chief would get bodied here.

The cutscene is crazy, even without the distraction I think he would get bodied still, remember Atriox took 3 Spartan II’s at once easily, still weird to see it happen to the Chief though

Atriox took both Red Team, and Chief by surprise.
Atriox was in complete advantage against Chief, since all Chief had was a pistol, while Atriox was armed with his Brute Hammer.
Had they both fairly squared up, with fair weaponry, I’d assume it would be closer. I wouldn’t say Chief would undoubtedly win, since Atriox is a threat, but it’s likely we will get to see. I’ve been told (spoiled, so stop reading here if you don’t want to see it) Atriox isn’t really dead. I’ve only started the campaign, so I don’t know much, but that’s what I’ve been told.
Atriox snuck up on chief with a gravity hammer and he doesn’t have Cortona with him. Chief wasn’t at full power
Not going to happen but I'd be down for a DLC that let's you take part in this Infinity attack. Would be awesome to actually see the full battle.
You never know. 343 supposedly has a TEN year plan for this game. That’s a whole lot of DLC if you ask me. So never say never.
Some co-op DLC featuring Fireteam Taurus would be nice.

Halo 1 and 2 it was a whole mission around the fight to keep your ship from falling to the covenant. It should have been the first level of Infinite but I will take a DLC at this point.
How tf does big ass Atriox sneak up on anyone, much less MASTER CHIEF?
Anyway, this cutscene is sick.
1st - Atriox don't need to sneak he will be coming in to your shit to teach you a lesson.
2nd - chief doesn't have an AI anymore so he doesn't have a second pair of eyes with him and he is probably still trying to get use to that. Also there are banished all over the place and crap exploding every where it can get a little overwhelming.
@@blaseleader887 yep and banished have a ton of stolen and original technology from covenant, unsc, and forerunners while Chief was a bit underprepared for that fight.
At 0:15 you see a second banish ship coming in to ram the infinity
My guess is that it made contact, got lodged in the Hull and Atriox came out the front close to the hangar
Either that or he already boarded between the first Impact and the start of the attack.

Came back coz I felt nostalgic. Hearing Master Chief say "it's enough" after asking for a weapon always sends chills down my spine.
I have rewatched the pat of chief gut punching Atriox and then upper cutting him so many times, my favorite part by far.
It immediately reminded me of Cap vs Thanos in Infinity War

Did you play Halo Wars 2? If not I completely understand why this comes across as so jarring for some random brute to kick Chief’s ass. But Atriox (the brute) is the villain from Halo Wars 2 and he is most definitely not just a brute, he’s an unstoppable monster so this cutscene definitely makes sense to me as a Halo Wars 2 player but it is very jarring to players who ignore the side games

Brutes have always been portrayed as a legitimate threat to Spartans in the canon, due to being much bigger and stronger than a Spartan in addition to often being a lot more cunning than they seem (without suffering from the "Honour Before Reason" mentality that the Elites do). The first time the Chief met one in the novels, it kicked his arse and he learned not to underestimate them.
About the only time the Brutes are "non-threatening" is in gameplay, which rarely reflects the universe accurately.
Bro look at chiefs body language he feels loss without Cortana we are going to witness chief at his lowest. That being said you can see that chief is still human even after all that experiments to turn him into a spartan. Installation 07 is going to be crazy!!!!!!!!!

This is the first real hand to hand combat (second if you count the Didact) that Master Chief has lost in his life.
I personally don't count the Didact because the Didact had force powers and was stupidly powerful. Atriox is set up to be a force to be reckoned with when he confronted red team without breaking a sweat.
could just be me but I noticed a subtle body language shift when MC comes across the dead marines. he stares at them, maybe mourning.

Haven't gotten very far in the game so I could be wrong, but I think that was an attempt to subtly imply he'd been drifting in space for 6 months. That opens up a whole can of worms of questions as to how he and Chief are still alive after that long, but... that's the best theory I've got at the moment.

That quick scene with the father looking at his wife and kid, I had a quick tear because I’ve heard those words before.
I love how 343 referenced marathon so hard especially with the marine helping his buddy in the background reminds me of the end of the first game

They changed the scene with the mom/daughter from the 2019 E3 reveal. I liked it better before, wonder why they felt the need to change that.
Maybe because you couldn't see the kid. But I liked the voice acting in the trailer more as well. This one seemed like the mother kept on cutting the kid off LOL

It was better pacing, visuals, but it was longer. Likely had to shorten it up just to get right to the action sooner or perhaps it didn’t flow from getting chief’s ass beat to a slower, emotional scene.
I love the death of the pilot struggling and forcing the pelican cockpit doors to open and later Chief easily pushes it aside like it's lose in its socket

I think I’m about half way through, and watching 3:00-3:27 hits differently when you think about the 6 months that past and the remaining USNC forces on the halo have been losing everything and all the Spartans slowing dying off between 30 secs

While I definitely agree there's a lot left to be desired when it comes to the multiplayer, I think they did a great job with the campaign. Obviously there are some issues, but overall I had a great time. Solid 7/10

it wouldn't bother me if we got to actually SEE what happened. the intro should have been a pillar of autumn-style abandon ship mission. would have been a great callback to the first game, and would have made a lot more sense than just "oh the main ship from the last two games got offed btw"

I think the intro scene would have been better if chief was wearing the Halo 4/5 armor, only for it to be destroyed throughout his fight with atriox. He then gets dumped with barely sustainable armor and that’s when echo 216 finds him, and recovers “obsolete armor” only for it to be the mark 6 armor. He installs it on an unconscious chief, where he then awakens and places on his old OG helmet

Ok in halo 5 it ends with master chief seeing Dr halsey and arbiter for the first time in a while then it just jump cuts to chief fighting atriox was there something in between that happened that I missed??? or is this just lazy writing

These Brutes are some kind of stupid strong. a Spartan II weighs about 1000lbs plus the wearer, so the MC say 1200lbs, and are themselves tough enough to survive spacediving without a chute, can flip a battle tank, on top of some other super soldier stuff that an Astartes would have to really work to top.. and here this brute is just tossing around Chief like some jobber.

When I was watching Chief get tossed around like a rag doll by atriox I legit couldn’t wait until I could fight him again later in the game I was so hyped then two minutes later they gave him a offscreen death. Words CANNOT express my disappointment. Literally mad af by that.

Can someone explain the gap between halo 5 and infinite? At the end of 5 the infinity emergency jumps away from earth, at this time chief just came back to the homeworld of the elites and reunites with Halsey and the arbiter. How the fuck did chief end up on the infinity, how did it end up at zeta , why are the banished here, when did that whole thing about weapon trying to delete Cortana happen?
