    The period is the time it takes for the wave to travel the distance of one wavelength which is the distance from crest to crest or trough to trough which the equation for is lamda = v/f where v is the speed of the wave, lambda is the wavelength, and f is the frequency.

    Great explanation. All movement above the centre of mass (head, arms, hands) is reactionary and opposite to the kick direction due to turning moments. This movement is undesirable but cannot be eliminated.

    What you're calling the period is the wavelength, the period is the amount of time it takes for one wave to pass so that Would he the amount of time for one whole kick but still a good video.

    • @theloniuspunkify
      @theloniuspunkify 4 года назад +4

      Yes, glad someone posted this. There is no way to change frequency without changing the period (the equation on the board says this). Most of the time when he said "period" he was meaning wavelength.

    Awesome video...I learned so much. Two questions: first, I'm working on breath control but can't yet make it the full length of the pool. What's the best way to take a breath when practicing underwater dolphin kick? Also, I have a really hard time staying UNDER the water and tend to float right to the top...any tips on that? Thank you and keep up the great work!

    • @FaresKsebati
      @FaresKsebati  3 года назад +19

      The best way to take a breath while swimming underwater dolphin kick is to come up to the surface and take a freestyle stroke, breathe and then dive back under to continue kicking!
      When you're underwater, do you exhale? Keeping a steady exhale, along with enough forward momentum, will help you stay underwater.

    Nice video - I'd add vertical kicking. I've started doing more vertical kicking and found that it is the best way for me to work both ends of the kick. It also seems like the best way to really feel where my weak points are due to having the water surface as a reference.

    I have a problem. I do pretty good dolphin kicks when my arms are not connected. When I connect my arms I feel like I don't move and I feel very uncomfortable. I don't know what's the problem, but I guess It could be my unflexibility. I'm really unflexible, espesially my arms. I worked half a year. I couldn't reach my toes, now my I'm much more flexible, but my upper body is still unflexible. If the problem is really my unflexibility, then maybe you could give me some advices on what exercises I could do to gain more flexibility, that I would be able to do proper dolphin kicks. If the problem isn't my unflexibility, then maybe you can tell me the problem and give some information how to solve it. Thanks.

    Daichi Suzuki actually won the Olympic Gold Medal in 1988 Olympics. Berkhoff took silver never won an individual gold. Berkhoff was a great swimmer and definitely gets credit for making underwater kick popular but he wasn't the first to do it. I saw a swimmer from New Zealand doing it as far back as 1978.

    • @pkundrat
      @pkundrat Год назад

      Video shown by Fares is actually from the heat - Berkhoff did win that heat and beat the WR (in the heat he stayed under water much longer than Suzuki and much ahead, in the final he went out just a bit after Suzuki being on par with him. It was actually Murphy from CAN who was the last one out of the water - albeit not benefiting from it too much being only 6th).

    fx=dx V:[largest > smallest] cannot divide. I.e. prices u proven tech. Lambda - freqsz. Hence; measures Varsz - of fx=dx. That side sht, is my fav - not always. They got - the 3 points! dx=4(3), dx=3(2), dx=2 stays 2. Hence; we produce-- the weakest swell - freqs. Hence; streamed finsz - vs flex forces < gaps - Varsz. Need more energy.
