And immediately determine that it's in far worse shape than we thought. What we thought was going to be a pretty typical engine out major turned into a full on engine rebuild by simply doing a compression check.

Man, I didn't want this video to end! I could listen to Josh and Dan bouncing off each other all day! Josh's knowledge and way of doing things - which is to say, correctly - makes the video just fly by. The quack count for this series will be: 133
Had a 98 355 gts and my first major was $20k as the headers were cracked and one of the struts was leaking. Also the f1 transmission can also be a ticking time bomb, other than that it is still the best sounding Ferrari and one of the best looking ever. Wish we had a mechanic like Josh. Great video guys and because its a 355 that has not been serviced well I will guess 76 Quacks.
Starting at around 19:00, Josh is really speaking the bare truth about Ferrari dealerships and what he says squares EXACTLY with my experience. When you buy a Ferrari, you expect everyone from sales to service are experts but what I have found is that they are worse than your average Chevy dealer and certainly no where on par with a Lexus dealership. It was a big lesson I learned the hardway.
Lexus is second to none in customer service.

I will say 45 quacks. If Josh is around a lot that may not be enough. ;) This is great, I learned so much about 355 already. One of my dream cars. This video has the fun between you guys, just a bunch of normal guys working on a car while talking smack about each other's cars and stuff. Love it. Josh is obviously The Man on Ferraris and probably other cars too. Some cars are bad. However, this shows that inadequate service or bad service can make an expensive car to run, even more expensive; thus, creating the bad name for the 355. It will be crucial for me to hire some one like Josh to go through any 355 I consider. I would love to bid on this car, if you guys ultimately go through it. Its perfect, a GTS, a manual, and a shade of red. It will need very little once you guys are done. Dan I know you will present this as a honest car when you are done. People will know what they are getting. I just wish it could be me. I appreciate you. Best of luck

We have a few guys here in Northern CA that are very good on the F355's. Our F355 has hit 73k miles with no issue, when maintained they are excellent cars. Cant wait for this project, should be fun.
Yeah, this one has 78k on it but there's some issues going on.

Ive always loved the look of the 355. That would be the first question asked about the valve guides on this car if it were me. The recall on these was improperly placed screw clamps for the fuel supply lines which I'm sure has lit up some of these over the years, pretty scary. Beautiful car nonetheless!

Parts usually about $3k including clutch, HE parts, and clutch. $8k is likely the min for full engine out labor w/clutch. W/O clutch and labor reduce by $2-3k. To get a $20k bill it's because you had to replace things like cats, headers, radiator leak, AC problem, or take the trans or engine apart to replace internals. As you likely will, use the Hill Engineering bearings etc. maybe the silicone hose kit etc. IMHO

Rather ingenious to have a knowledgeable tech like Josh involved in the project and to record his and all other work. When you have this car dialed in, you will be able to sell it for a premium...because everyone will know this car has been done right.

I’m guessing 522 quacks! Well, I’ll be honest, I live in San Diego and I’m terrified of owning a 355 someday, but it’s my dream car. Steve Maxwell no longer works on Ferraris here, so I have no clue who I’d even trust to work on one. I guess someday I’ll just plan on shipping my future car to Josh for all of its major services 😂
I hope the owner does cough up the cash to do the work as GTSs are just skyrocketing in value, and it’s worth the investment. The car seems so nice cosmetically as well. Good *quacking* luck, guys! Can’t wait to see the series!

The 355 is my favorite car of all time, that said I would never own one because the maintenance is astronomical. But, the sound and exterior design are flawless.
