Really? Jeep crapped the bed then, instead of saying "yep this Jeep crapped the bed BUT let me show you video of how cool this thing looked off road in slow mo"
And that's not even addressing how they asked Jeep what "trail rated" meant with the Renegade (which is 100% Fiat under the hood btw) and the rep refused to answer.
There is a difference between an influencer and a review. Just look at every other Nation that reviews Jeeps, Aussies in particular. Remove the "USA!!!" From a USA born review? Oh the view is very different.
"Just over 2 weeks"... For service bulletins? Aka stuff they already know how to fix and don't have to diagnose themselves?

Not surprised. I am an auto technician for a rental car company. Our location has a lot of FCA products in the fleet and they are not reliable. No f'ing way a normal dealer is going to repaint body work "under warranty"
My 2017 Chrysler 300, with 3,100 miles on it had the paint flaking off the white seats (2018+ models went to better leather but 2017 white interior was painted leather)
Dealer said they would replace leather no problem - ordered the part then called me in to collect the car and told me I would have to pay out of pocket for the work.
I argued it was insane to think an 8 month old car with 3100 miles would have the leather falling apart and they even agreed and stood their ground that I could either pay $1300 out of pocket to replace the seat cover or take a hike.
I took a hike - I'm still mad about that.

The long time was likely due to the paint and the warranty claim. Automotive paint isn't like spray paint where you can just spray it and it's ready. You might have to spend a day or two just in prep work and just as long to let it dry and cure. And dealerships don't make warranty claims a priority since it won't be making them any money and the techs don't get paid as much to do warranty work.

Low voltage can affect may systems and sensors because many rely on 5 volt constant current. If that current drops, this will signal a problem to the computer and you'll go into limp mode.

    • @406Steven

They use linear regulators to drop the supply voltage to 5 volts because they're slightly cheaper than using switching regulators. One tiny little electrical component that can make such a huge difference in reliability. But low battery voltage has been an issue with Jeeps for a long time, the old XJs wouldn't idle with a bad battery/low charging voltage either.

The JL has a more refined ride quality than a JK on the street. The pentastar engine is doing how you would expect from the JKs, it's the new 4 cylinder turbo with e torque engine that's giving them issues. Just like any new engine, there will be kinks to work out for years. If you want a JL I would advise people to stick to the pentastar to lower risk with new car engine issues.

Thank you for being so transparent about vehicles you guys buy. The fact that they had the vehicle for that long means they definitely escalated the issue straight to engineering. Instead of saying: "we looked into the logs and it's working fine now. Therefore there's nothing we can do." As a service engineer for a company that manufactures X-ray equipment. I see this first hand, and the amount of time it takes to have updates tested and validated.

Long time Mopar guy here. We bought my wife a JL. Identical to yours in every way down to the color. It's got 4300 miles on it now and have had it in 3 times for 3 different issues now. At 400 miles the check engine light came on due to a fault with the evaporator unit they had to keep it for a week. At 2k miles the e-torque unit completely stopped working and left us stranded in the middle of an intersection, Now they have it again because auto start causes the check engine light to come on and the vehicle stalls out at low speeds.
In addition to the major mechanical issues there are small quality control things. Before we got the jeep home the 1st day the center console latch snapped off and we've been waiting on a replacement part for that since February. Her white paint has started to yellow and stain on like 4 different body panels, and her cylinder deactivation hasn't worked since the 2nd day we've had it and every time they fix it the issue returns (not a big deal since we hate it anyways).
Jeeps just aren't what they used to be. I got a DT ram over the gladiator and I am glad for my decision every time I get in her Jeep.

There are all kinds of posts on the battery and yellowing of paint issue in the jlwrangler forum... I had the same issue on yellowing on grill and fenders and only after getting Jeepcate involved did the dealership take care of issue... that whole process took 3 months and dealership / body shop had it for about 1month as they repaint items. In my case when I got it back the first time they did a horrible job on the fenders so jeepcares told them to order new fenders which come in with no paint so then they had to ship them off to body shop. It,s fine now but for a Jeep under a year old not very pleased. I also had them update pcm for loud fan noise which is much better now and then they did another item where the seat frames had a defect. Also have the turbo 4 and did get the battery issue when out on the trail for a brief time but it went away and dealer has no clue so I am watching items like this as it will prob be another recall... btw on the seat t,s been a month since they did the work and now the drivers seat slips on recline so it doesn’t lock properly... so I have another recall for the steering I will have them fix seat again I just hate being without the Jeep again.
