Hey Jack. Next time someone tells you it's an authentic Amish Quilt, you'll know, because the Amish NEVER use the color red or any shade of red in any quilt.
Yes this is very true indeed. My cousin 's husband is former Amish, and he's told me about their belief that red is sacred in symbol of girls becoming women, and for symbol of Jesus Christ's blood shed for our sins that is why it's forbidden to use red in their quilt making patterns by the girls and women. 👨👩👧👧👩❤️👨🤰👶🇺🇸🇯🇵🌏🗻🗾
Symbolically that makes no sense. If they see red as a symbol of the blood of Jesus Christ, then why would women not be permitted to choose that color in quilting when the blood of Jesus is what covers every sin because Jesus suffered on the cross to forgive us. It's as if they are preventing women from connecting with the forgiveness of sins through Jesus which is only something satan would do. Makes zero sense!
@@GameChanger597 I totally agree with you, but in the Amish community the men are leaders, so women, and girls must listen to how the men translate the meanings of the the Bible, It's truly sad not the whole truth is shared with the Amish women and girls, and they're kept in the dark, and not allowed to decide for themselves what the truth translation of scripture meanings are from the Bible writings. But I do know this that all young Amish are suppose to decide by age 16-18 if they want to stay in Amish Christian lifestyle and community, or leave it for other christian or non-christian lifestyles. They are given this freedom of choice from their tight knit community during their teen years until considered an adult around age 16-18. Lol....it's kind of eery when you overhear people talking about you. Closest I came to that was at one of my daughter's softball games. I sat down, and the two ladies in front of me were totally trash-talking me. I was the team manager, and apparently they didn't care for the way I did the job. That's okay, but if they had real concerns, they should have just talked to me. I can't even describe their reaction when they realized I was right behind them and heard every word they said. I just smiled at them.
I remember yard sales back in the day dishes were 10-25 cents and linens were 50cents , grandma used to say I brought it out to get rid of not to hail it all back 🤣🤣
Except some people will haggle over 50 cents, want a $30 sweater for 25 cents instead. I mercilessly mock those people, prefer valueing the humor more than the 25 cents...
yearly go thru your house and list all things not wanted on ebay for like min $2 or value, do 2 weekly runs to the post office. its amazing the junk that sells. mystery box all the left overs.
Jack You're so calm, knowledgeable and patient with all of the objects and people you are dealing with!! I have great admiration for the skills you practice daily 😊
I think you made a great deal on the cabbage patch doll. Usually there is a mark on their bottom to say the name of the doll. That one almost looks like a prototype. I bought our daughter one when she was in 4th grade. She was so happy.
The pewter figurines place had great stuff and they were a bunch of nice dudes. Great deals there and at stereo house. It's fascinating to see different personalities and wide range of vibe and pricing at each sale.
When Cabbage Patch dolls and Transformers came out that first winter, they were hard to get a hold of, and some parents were so desperate, they flew to London to get the last available there too! (Many years later, I bought a kit from the Penney's catalogue and sewed my own, still on my bed 40 years later!)---Great show today. And a beautiful ending.
I was at a recent estate sale. They had an awesome collection of yellow, green and blue satin Fenton glass. In 2 weekends they only sold one piece. Priced higher than retail.
I think the most awesome deal I ever found years ago was Japanese(occupied Japan mark) porcelain cups and saucers. 4 of them each with different raised beautiful designs of dragons for only a $1 for cup and saucer!!! I quickly moved them for a considerable amount each to an antique dealer. The strangest part was I found the yardsale late in the morning and wondered why no one hadn't already snatched them up. They truly were beautiful.
The glove is Richie Ashburn. Hall of Fame outfielder and broadcaster. He played for the Phillies and Cubs. The Phillies named part of their stadium after him. Ashburn Alley. Great memories of him calling games withHarry Kalas.
The quilt was probably purchased at the Kutztown Folk Festival. They have an entire building of quilts that are auctioned off during the festival. Some go for $1000's of dollars.
I remember standing in line at 6am just to get my niece a cabbage patch doll in the 80's. Jack you are looking handsome in your yellow and blue shirt. See you at the auction.
I love seeing what you come up with at yard sales. Try Monster drink to clean up the place mats, Jack. I saw that it cleaned things up, better than a cleaner
Thanks so much for subscribing! And the great stuff! We sold most of those items in our live auction and they were exciting to have. Did you sell all the mugs?
@@LockerNuts yes we sold all the mugs :) I know they were generally too marked up for reselling but for families they came through and bought 6-8 at a time!

I went to one a few months back and it was the last day of the sale and no half off and prices were RIDICULOUS and they were charging eBay prices for items that were even chipped and cracked!
Yes I agree and so many have what looks to be broken and damaged junk that needs to be thrown out then asking such high prices. But I guess everything has gone up today. However I still love yard and estate sales and have found some awesome pieces at decent prices. Gas prices now limit the getting around tho.
We had a garage sale a few years ago and I made sure to price everything. People wanted everything for .50 cents. Nothing was priced over 5.00 and I had a ton of clothes hanging up. Put out plastic bags and told them 5.00 for all you can get in the bag. New jeans, name brand blouses etc. They acted like I was trying to rip them off. Never again. Too much work for pennies.
The sterling jewelry sale reminded me of when my uncle died, when you looked at that lady's box, my entire family spent days cleaning out the house, dumping all garbage out, hot day...orking our tails off...I went up to the 3rd floor, my brother and his wife are on the floor going thru all my uncles personal items looking for treasures...it was embarrassing...
Yeah, my cousin thought she scored taking an old violin that had a label that indicated it would be valuable, except it was made by a student. The guy I tried to sell it to didn't even want it, so I was smirking as she made off with her "treasure", trying to cheat the rest of the family...
Yep original cabbage patch is all soft sculpture. Great find! Boy that one lady "No! Mine!" And she barked at the lady selling jewelry too. Can we say grouchy!
Try using 409 on the placemats. Fantastic video Jack! You found some great items… that estate sale was annoying, everybody coming in there grabbing up stuff like it was free… your friends have a beautiful place in country 😍
@@XNYer68 Estate Sales and garage sales are not the same thing. An Estate Sale should have nicer items. I've been to quite a few over the years and one was an old house full of antiques. They were Ebay prices but with the ability to actually see the items, pick them up and take home instead of waiting. Some items were overpriced but most were not. She had some nice things and apparently never threw anything away.
"Young man"? Well, that's the perfect vindication for all your hard work over the past year or so, getting yourself back in shape. You look so much thinner now - well done!
Yes original cabbage patch kids have fabric faces. I used to have the EXACT one that you got with the same name and everything lol. Definitely worth money. The plastic ones came later
For the cabbage patch there are two different styles from the 80’s one is the hard plastic and the other fabric, because I believe there was two makers . The original maker used fabric which makes your doll worth more . I would definitely do some research on it and you maybe pleasantly surprised what u may fetch for her :)
its the same designer. They just contracted to mass produce the plastic ones. The early Soft Sculptures were hand signed signed be Xavier from 79 to early 80's. Those are worth the most. Got to look for that and the tags. Learn the tags.
Love all other receivers and tuners. Love the old Turntable too. I found out when buying turquoise to put it on cheek is f it's cool it's probably real
Unfortunately, it’s not necessarily fool-proof because there are similarly covered stones. And since they’re real stones, they’ll also be cool to the touch. (They do dye stones also.)
😄👋👍👍👏👏💕🙏 A beautiful background for date night. With friends added to the mix, makes for a great night. I pray God continues to bless you and your's Amen.
Enjoyed this video. You got the vibe and attitude I appreciate. Informative, chill, and respectful. Maybe do a video to teach people how to do a successful garage/estate sale. (If you haven't already!) I did a huge garage sale just before I left the Bay Area 12 years ago. I swore I'd never do it again. And I won't bc I'm too old! But it would be great to see how a garage sale COULD be done from a professional dealer's perspective. Wishing you well in this crazy world.
I did a yard sale about twenty five years ago in California and made $6 total. People wanted to pay ten cents for everything. My husband got mad because I sold his vintage wall clock.
Nice stuff! I wasn’t a big fan of the way those people were at the estate sale. Sign up and they don’t follow the order. People blocking the pathways.. even to the backyard. Rude! And the jewelry table…. She lost control of that real fast. But you will make $$ for sure.
I grew up, mainly in San Ramon as when I was 4 years old, my parents bought a house in a new development. If anyone is familiar with this area, the early to mid 80s was insane with respect to the amount of residential and commercial construction going on throughout San Ramon and the surrounding area. Sidenote: My father is / always has been a brilliant poker player. In 83, he won a beautiful Black stingray corvette in one of his private high stakes games. Each Sunday he would take me to the farmers field's that were loaded with pheasants and the new long, straight road that in a few years would be the main entrance to bishop ranch! We would race up and down that street and to this day, almost 40 years later, my mother still has no idea of just how fast my dad was going, lol! Ok, back on track, my family was the first house to actually be occupied in the court. My parents still live there today and we are the only family in the court who are the original owners. If not for my mother holding us back, quite a few family members would all be living in Idaho right now, but that is a whole other story. 10 years ago I bought a townhouse in Pleasanton. I /my own family have always had large breed dogs, so long walks are just part of our daily routine. I have NEVER lived anywhere or even heard about an area where people put so many awesome things on the curb with "for free" signs! I have found and brought home so many valuable things just walking through my neighborhood and in walking distance, surroundings neighborhoods! To name just a few examples, an 8 foot, fully lit Costco Christmas tree still in the box, a signed and numbered Casper the friendly ghost print, occupied Japan porcelain, a huge inventory of golf club head covers for a guy who apparently closed his store. I turned around and sold the whole lot on line for almost $700. Several hallmark ornaments (my mom has collected hallmark since the year I was born so she was happy about this particular find. And probably my favorite find came from a yard sale that the couple throwing it left everything out on their driveway and lawn overnight. So when walking my girl. Nala, I found 3 differnt lledro pieces! Well I found 2. Each listed for $20. Knowing their value, and that I was working a doubt the next day, I took them with me but I returned the next night and put a note with the $40 under their front porch mat to let them know what I had done the night before. I went back the last day of their sale, (Sunday, ) sn I introduced myself. The couple was so happy that I had been honest as they told me how a lot of items were being taken over night. There had been a beautiful Santa Claus lledro in the garage that she gave me for free as a result of my honesty! My mother also collects lledro so I gave the 3 pieces to her and looking up their values, the 3 pieces I got for $40 have a total value of $1500!

I agree! I usually stay away from estate sales. The best thing about them is that you get to check out the house, and we've seen some really cool ones; mid century and seem stuck in time, like real throw backs. I love those!
Jack I think the glove is Richie Ashburn. Great pickups. Can't make home runs without making base hits. Can't make Base hits if you don't show up to the game. Good stuff
It's just like being there, an interesting POV. Also too funny they're talking about you and you're literally a touch away from them. Take care and God bless you guys ❤️🙏
One time I was at an estate sale that had a sign up sheet that went out at midnight. I got there at 9pm to make sure I was 1st, but there was actually a guy there already! He asked if he could put his girlfriends name on the list ahead of me, and promised she was not going to be looking at toys. ( we were both there for vintage toys) I agreed, no problem which put me 3rd on the list but just behind him for toys, so I thought. Well when the lady came out she said only 2 people were allowed to look at toys at a time. Well... She went in the toy room with him blocking me out, and they bought up all the good stuff. We even had a pact, on what we each of us wanted, and we agreed that if we saw it we would grab it for the other. I thought we were friends 😆. I guess all is fair in love and estate sales. Love your channel Jack keep it up!!!!
You got some great deals. The quilt piece was from PA and the area is not far from me. It's cool to see how stuff is found all over the place. Thanks for sharing.
I was so confused at the beginning, as you were talking a bit bad about the garage sales. Then I realised you spoke over it later, so it wasn't rude, haha!
@@LockerNuts haha yes I couldn't imagine that you would talk like that when the owner was standing right next to you. Great video, I really like your channel. Greetings from the Netherlands.
I don't know who Alex is, but I've sold a fair amount of Starbucks cups on eBay in the past. The older ones have value, but these were newer ones and at $12 a pop there's not enough markup for me.
I love going to yard sales. My late fiancé was unable to walk very well when he got sick, so out of respect for him, we just didn't go to them anymore. My current boyfriend and I go to then all the time in southern NY state (I live in central PA) and I swear they have THE best sales! So many amazing items for under $5.00. Usually a quarter to $3.00. Now my bf is a master at haggling. We never pay what they're asking. Most of the time we're paying a 1/4 to 1/2 less that what's priced. I can't do it...when I ask, they rarely agree to it, but 9 times out of 10 they'll do it for him, lol. Anyway in the past month I've gotten three authentic Coach handbags. Two were a dollar each and one was three dollars. All in great condition and easily could be resold for around $50 a piece, or more. I never thought to resell things as I don't have much of my own. I had to move quickly and didn't have help doing so, so majority of our items were left behind. Though as much as I would like to have nice things, I'm more in need of money, so maybe reselling isn't a bad idea. This video has actually inspired me to start doing this. The extra cash could definitely help pay bills and for food. So thank you!!! ❤❤❤❤
This is how I’m gonna offload my stuff: I’m gonna call an auctioneer-I don’t even want to lay out tables. And we had way more stuff than this. I just don’t want stuff anymore. Too much STUFF!!
I did a sale and this woman was picking everything up asking the price and putting it down. She picked up a small box " £1". She put it down. I picked it up and opened it. It had a gold chain in it. I just dangled it, and laughed!
@@lordhallibel3604l don't think you understand. I was selling she was buying. Well. Picking everything up and asking the price. I didn't sell her it. If she had bought the box she would of got a nice surprise. It wasn't me buying it was her.

Fantastic video Jack! You found some great items… that estate sale was annoying, everybody coming in there grabbing up stuff like it was free… your friends have a beautiful place in country 😍
Thanks 👍
Aren't you supposed to grab things at estate sales? lol
Great video! everyone and everything at that estate sale was annoying! You have a lot of patience
Personally I don't like estate sales all that much. I prefer garage sales, where the deals are better.
I hate it when people say make an offer and then get offended when you make an offer
Me too!
Yeah but when you offer $20 for a $60 it’s like really dude😂that broke or something, if ykyk
Some great deals Jack, love the old school stereo stuff, also mate looking really well with your achievements on the diet.
Thanks 👍
Yes! Good purse, leather wallet. The Disney & Winnie the Pooh All good stuff. So fun 🤩 wish I was there.
The vintage baseball is a signature model endorsed by Richie Ashburn who played in MLB back in the 1960's.
Yes original cabbage patch kids have fabric faces. I used to have the EXACT one that you got with the same name and everything lol. Definitely worth money. The plastic ones came later
The gold purse was from the 1960's my mother had a lot of designer clothes and bags, she had the whole Jacklyn Smith collection.
For the cabbage patch there are two different styles from the 80’s one is the hard plastic and the other fabric, because I believe there was two makers . The original maker used fabric which makes your doll worth more . I would definitely do some research on it and you maybe pleasantly surprised what u may fetch for her :)
Cleveland Georgia where the original Cabbage Patch was, you could watch your baby being born!
its the same designer. They just contracted to mass produce the plastic ones. The early Soft Sculptures were hand signed signed be Xavier from 79 to early 80's. Those are worth the most. Got to look for that and the tags. Learn the tags.
That' stereo system is the bomb.
It was $1k + new in 80s !! If it works Amazing buy !! 👍🏆😁
To remove sharpie marks. Most of the time I have good luck using rubbing alcohol with a soft cloth
Hello Jack and Jana. I see that you're going to yard sales. Good luck at the yard sales.
Large sale. The first home had a beautiful brick entrance and patio .
Now you do price your items high at the flea markets .
😄👋👍👍👏👏💕🙏
A beautiful background for date night. With friends added to the mix, makes for a great night.
I pray God continues to bless you and your's Amen.
That was amazing great finds xxx
Jack, the Cabbage Patch Doll should be signed on the bottom of her her foot, or her bottom, Xavier Roberts. Great find!!!
Enjoyed this video. You got the vibe and attitude I appreciate. Informative, chill, and respectful.
Maybe do a video to teach people how to do a successful garage/estate sale. (If you haven't already!)
I did a huge garage sale just before I left the Bay Area 12 years ago.
But you will make $$ for sure.
great garage selling day, that was funny that guy talking about you

To name just a few examples, an 8 foot, fully lit Costco Christmas tree still in the box,
a signed and numbered Casper the friendly ghost print, occupied Japan porcelain, a huge inventory of golf club head covers for a guy who apparently closed his store.
That was so interesting to watch! Your garage sale shopping and flea market selling are my favorites to watch. I wonder if your neighbor ever figured out who his RUclips neighbor is!🤣
try using a majic eraser on the placemats.. rubbing gently with a small dab of blue dawn dish detergent.
Thanks Jack , I’m just a lookeee loooo , I don’t buy , I just sell, but your videos are great , thank you to you and your wife , you have taught me a bunch ,that’s not easy to say for a guy that’s 20 or so years older than yourself , but you must give credit, when credit is due !!!!
Hi Jack, you probably already know this? On those display cases, they usually have the key # stamped on them and you can order replacement keys from the manufacturer.
Take care and stay safe!
Good idea. I have contacted the company, and they don't have keys to fit but are checking to see if they have a replacement lock to sell me.
Might be worth it to take them to a locksmith. It's generally cheaper for their services if you don't require a house call.
Tag sales & Garage sales All Encompassing- Estate sales normally in my experience’s tend to be like you experienced junk, overpriced, poorly run or not priced, & over supervised typically with rude people. Fun Content Your Time Is Valuable stick with the Tags & Garage! Be Well Be Safe & Stay Blessed.
Wow guess you didn’t run out of $😂
I agree! I usually stay away from estate sales. The best thing about them is that you get to check out the house, and we've seen some really cool ones; mid century and seem stuck in time, like real throw backs. I love those!
YOU- will you take $4? THEM- that seems kinda cheap for Land Rover, how about $5. 😂😂
The Longchamp purse on the table at the first sale….I was thinking “Nooooo, grab that purse!”. Enjoyed the video!!!
Jack, the artwork on the placemats and coasters is called Quimper from the Bretagne (Brittany) region of France. Lovely!
Use hand sanitizer to remove sharpie markers markings…yep it works 👍🏼
Lookin GREAT Jack!!! Awesome finds! I love your yardsalin style!😎💯
You got some great deals. The quilt piece was from PA and the area is not far from me. It's cool to see how stuff is found all over the place. Thanks for sharing.
That was a verrry nice garage sale with the Japanese pieces. Wow!
I was so confused at the beginning, as you were talking a bit bad about the garage sales. Then I realised you spoke over it later, so it wasn't rude, haha!
Yeah, I’m usually quiet while present at the yard sale. I don’t want to draw more attention, since I’m already wearing a camera on my chest.
@@LockerNuts haha yes I couldn't imagine that you would talk like that when the owner was standing right next to you.
Great video, I really like your channel. Greetings from the Netherlands.
I couldn’t stand the sellers following me around, telling me how valuable their stuff is!
Yeah I don’t like that either.
Always gets on my nerves.
Haven’t watched for awhile. Wow Jack! You are looking so slim and trim! Congratulations 🎉🎊🎈
Thank you!!
Alex, look for a u tube channel, top 20 coffee mugs, aired this week, you'll see you should have bought all the Starbucks coffee mugs!
I don't know who Alex is, but I've sold a fair amount of Starbucks cups on eBay in the past. The older ones have value, but these were newer ones and at $12 a pop there's not enough markup for me.
This will sound weird, but on the placemats, try a little off bug spray to clean them
I love going to yard sales.
Wow you are a very Respectful business Man . You will be very blessed and Successful in life.
I did a sale and this woman was picking everything up asking the price and putting it down. She picked up a small box " £1". She put it down. I picked it up and opened it. It had a gold chain in it. I just dangled it, and laughed!
why did you do that fool
@@lordhallibel3604l don't think you understand. I was selling she was buying. Well. Picking everything up and asking the price. I didn't sell her it. If she had bought the box she would of got a nice surprise. It wasn't me buying it was her.
Richie Ashburn played center field for the Philadelphia Phillies. Inducted into the BBHOF in 1995 and had his number retired by the Phillies. After he retired be became part of the Phillies broadcast team.
Haven't seen you in a while on RUclips, busy. Just wanted to say I''m impressed that your looking so much better, and healthier. Hope you have a great time on your next run out the door. ;)

Great Scores 😍❤️
Great video , Jack !!! It started so slow , then ended on a high . Sure hope you enjoyed your night off away from the grind . Boy , your friends have a wonderful view !!! Be well , be safe , and continue to prosper
Did you let them know who you were at the end? Sounds like they get a kick out of having you as a neighbor....haha. Looks like the De Anza market in the next video, can't wait.
Prices at that house sale were insane! You should bring a couple of empty cases to Scotland! 😂
Sharpie markers remove easily, on most surfaces, with rubbing alcohol.
The locks on the cases are pretty easy to pick if you have a basic lock pick set. They sell a rake for those little locks and they work well
