All those newspapers and pics you throw away are desired by junk journal enthusiasts. Usually 10 pieces of whatever can run $15-20. The slides are also desirable. They usually sell 30 slides for about $15. Well worth trying to sell on Market place. You will have people wanting to buy.

Sure hope you did some research, Jack!! Check to see if there is an Orchid Society near you. The wood and all of those pots were probably used together to earn the awards at the orchid competitions. Also, you're missing out with all of the old ephemera. Junk journalers like me will photocopy the deteriorating papers to have the old ads and headlines. There IS a big market for it!! Makes me very sad to see it all go into the trash! Even scientific papers with graphs and scales are great. The small "kiln" is probably scientific equipment that was fabricated for some specific experiment -- back in the day you couldn't just order stuff on Amazon -- you had to engineer it yourself. There's also a lot of interest in vintage documents regarding Nuclear Power theory and production. I'd buy all of those stamps and old envelopes and the little wax bags in a HEARTBEAT!!!!!! Even the empty stamp collecting albums are TREASURE to me!!! PLEASE sell them on Whatnot!!

I worked in a used book warehouse. Even with a program that helped identify the value and rarity of a book, it was an extremely arduous job. Less than 5% of the books had any value at all. Then comes the job of recycling the pulp. Finding recyclers for pulp is getting very difficult. I've seen the underbelly of trying to sell used books.

Thought you might be interested the Australian coin is one that is highly sought after. Copied from a Google search:-
The value of a 1943 Australian penny can range from $20 to $250, depending on where they were minted and their appearance. This is because the 1943 Australian penny experienced mass production compared to other coins, as the country was in the middle of World War 2 during 1943, meaning the need for currency was higher than normal.

And I think that rag doll is known as a Topsy Turvy doll; it has 2 heads, and you can flip the skirt, depending on which doll head you want to play with. I had one from the late 1800’s, which interestingly had a blonde head on one side, and a black doll on the other.

Those Shiny Bright ornaments you were unexcited about usually sell for decent money. I sold a decent size box of them for $80. I always pick up Shiny Bright for the right price. I am not sure what kind of margins you look for in reselling but I would keep those to sell for sure. Especially since you had them in the boxes and the colors looked to be in excellent condition. Also, some old ornaments that look like stained glass can be shell and those in sets like you have can be worth money. Even so, with as many as you had in sets, they would probably sell pretty decently. Everyone has their niche though.

Most pottery shards found in historical locations are forbidden to pick up.---Pictures at an Exhibition album in that stack. The first album I ever bought was a Leonard Bernstein's conducting album, music we played in High School band. Still one of my favorite music albums. I have it on CD & cassette! Lots of history behind that music for me.---I think those sand bags in the sewing box were for holding down delicate fabric when cutting out patterns, because the seamstress wanted to avoid pin holes.

Also with paintings and old photos take the backing off because it was common practice to hide stuff behind pictures. Also with old hardware like door pulls and drawer handles if they are painted you might want to remove the paint because during the world wars people would hide their gold and silver by making them into hardware in their kitches to hide it from invading forces. I found 5 lions head door pulls that ended up being sterling silver.

Especially since you are finding scholarly papers on atomic decay and other such topics Jack. I’ve read a lot about the history of atomic energy development and folks who accidentally hurt themselves on things they found in random places like storage lockers and basements. Please be careful. See if any of your buddies has a Geiger Counter.

Jack, please take time and really go through the old Christmas ornaments. There is value even at this time of year. Also those aluminum baking sheets are heavy duty like what would be sold in a store for chefs and such.

Well since you got it for free, then everything you sell those items for is gravy. I'd be happy if that was a locker I got for free to resell. A lot of those old newspapers are collectable. Please make sure the family gets back all those family photo's. Someone in that couples family will want them I'm sure.

Set a piece of cardboard underneath the reindeer with wax out in the sun. The sun will do most of the work and melt away the wax. Anytime you are dealing with wax, let the sun soften the wax for you. I do this all the time when I want to clean the wax off of whatever it is.
