32 years professional finisher an artist industrial me myself I would never use the same pump for water-based that you use for acrylic oil and the like. Your major function is to keep it running never get lazy with your pump and have plenty of solvent to be able to clean your oil-based pump each and every time when you're done with it. The same with your water based pump. Crossing the two materials can really wreak havoc on your spray pump. And I've seen styles go and I've seen styles come in you would be house spent to beat an old Graco or DeVillebiss. And always remember keep it clean and do it right the first time and you won't have any problems good luck 🤞

It’s very rare I use prime function, put that in paint and pull trigger on spray gun until all water/air out that’s it . Am I the only one who does this ?

@bratvlad it's not the way I was taught it's possible if the pump is already primed with water or paint.
