No comparison. Mark has nothing valuable to offer whatsoever. Just empty pep talks stuffed with trite platitudes and empty anecdotes. Ryan can be pep talky too, but at least he's referencing important philosophical thinkers. Mark is literally just ranting and preaching.
@@Retro_Sean It's a spot on take actually. Mark has nothing concrete to offer. No clear or practical takeaways or actionable steps. No research, knowledge, or uncommon experience went into his work. He was just in a mood one day and hammered out a rant/pep talk that went viral. That's literally all it is.
from the poem "Song of the Open Road" by Walt Whitman (1856): "Now understand me well- it is provided in the nature of things that from any fruition of success, no matter what, shall come forth something to make a greater struggle necessary.."
I'm reading these comments about what others think of this video...I've got some work to do on my stoicism... and I will, a little bit everyday....right now my face is squished into a smiling position...awesome
Great meditation to start the day. I love the Tenessee Williams and Oscar Wilde quotes. We actively needs artists like that in our daily routine to be able to think critically, creatively, and make sure that we aren't going about our days under the guise of heuristics.
Never read a book by Ryan Holiday but I definitely will, what Mark said about the average person picking a book is very true I bought “The subtle art of not giving a fu*k “ BECAUSE the title 😂 both are very good authors life is a bitch either deal with it or get beat by it
re the question (@ timeline 16:56), "Why wouldn't you just live a pleasure-seeking life (since you don't have to work anymore)?" answer: God said in Proverbs 21:17 - [You're addicted to thrills? What an empty life! The pursuit of pleasure is never satisfied.]
Two of my favorite authors. Nice. Thank you! P.S. to anyone who enjoys their content and a reminder for my future self, another good authors are Cal Newport, David Goggins, Carol S. Dweck, Timothy Gallwey, ... P.P.S. if you know any cool non-bullshit authors, please put a comment on my thread, I appreciate any suggestions.
Is Mr. Greene the only person you don't half-interrupt Mr. Holiday? I know it's at the end of the sentences and you might be excited to chime in. But it's slightly disrespectful and quite irritating for the viewer.
Why does anybody listen to Mark Menson? He has no particular knowledge or experience. He had a single, edgy blog post rant that he turned into a best-selling airplane read, with no practical value to offer anybody. He's not exactly Socrates.
@@marianadavila323 " *Many people find his work valuable* " Mostly women, and exclusively people who are blinded by the emotional charge they get from his pep talks, and can't recognize that his work is comprised exclusively of empty platitudes and trite anecdotes, with zero actionable strategies or recommendations. If what he says and how he says it can help some...then by all means, why not? Not everybody is going to like his style or his arguments. But that's the thing about creating stuff...you can't control who's gonna find it valuable and who isn't. There's no objective way to measure something that is so intrinsically subjective as expressing your points of view in whichever format right?...cuz it's your point of view! We just can't generalize about it and say that his work has no application or that is empty. I read the book, I liked it, found myself coming back to it time and time again, and honestly some of his advice work better than more formal and "serious" books talking about the same things but with fancier words. And what does that mean? that I'm an empty headed and incapable of discerning right from wrong? It's just simply not like that. We all process the world and information in a very different way from one another. You do it your way, and the rest theirs. If something doesn't work for you, just move on. The world doesn't need to know if it did or if it didn't, and don't take me wrong, I'm not saying you should not share your opinion. I'm of the thought that if your opinion serves to lift others and is constructive, then go ahead...but what do you gain from doing the opposite? Like, really, and honestly asking, what value do you get from talking down from others and their work with no real evidence of what it means to be them and go through whatever experiences they found useful to thrive? Yeah, you're totally in your right to say "Hey, this doesn't work, or his content is not valuable" as long as you emphazise "for me".
Two of the greatest authors in the history of time thank God for this meeting!
156 days No Alcohol 🥇🏆

One Day At A Time!!

Two talented self help writers that do justice to the genre. Both create fun reads.
Two guys I'm subscribed to are collaborating so unexpectedly, I love it!
Amen 🙏
I came here to say this!
Exactly what I said to myself 🤯🫡
My two favorite authors. Praise Jesus!

Such a great chat. Thanks guys! :)
Two great thinkers.
always learning something out of every single great person brought onboard daily stoic by Ryan
The dilema of duty and choice is well put in the animated movie Megamind, its a kids movie but darn is really deep, great video like always :)
Yes! You're right thought. Metromam has a deep character development. It was a good movie.
Love the content but more ads than any other long form interviews I've watched in recent memory 😅

Dan Pink, Jim Collins, Kim Scott, Stephen R. Covey, Richard Dawkins, Susan Cain, and Angela Duckworth are some. Hope this helps.
What an abrupt ending.
Life without struggle is meaningless but what if your whole life is an struggle full of disappointment and rejection and u die as an failure 😐
Then rest in peace
Big fan of both .... but far too many adverts...
get youtube premium....game changer
He is holding mic with hand in entire podcast 😂😂😂
Hence proved: He is not lazy

Too much success...a problem I'm sure I won't have to worry about lol
Sound mixing is atrocious. I listen on the train. The volume is maxed and I have headphones. I can barely hear this one.
There is no voice please check....

Many people find his work valuable, if you're not one of them why bother coming here to say something negative?
