Followed your tutorial bro, good with details and everything I put a little less paste than what you did. My ps4 still sounds like a jet unfortunately, I have the first ps4 model that came out back in 2013, so its 9 3/4 years old. I'm going to try again with putting a little extra paste. Wish me luck 🤞🏼 if it is the model, then ima upgrade the parts.
Make sure everything that secures the thermal paste is good like the middle bracket, metal pressure bracket, the screws are flattened out meaning the screws can’t go any further because it stops like if you hit a wall. That’s pretty much the critical part that’s responsible for the jet engine.
Thx! This jokes are awesome🤣🤣🤣 And thx for great tips! Especially about scratch APU screws, to make stuff similar like in car engine timing belt system.
The torque tightness for the screws on that S plate aren't really important. I've done several of these for some friends and always just made sure they were equally secure and not over tightened.
got a question, I just got all my things together new thermal paste and stuff, but ngl I lost like 2 thermal pads lol you think it’ll still run alright if so? and about the 2 screws you talked about to keep the same torx as the manufacturer, will that be a problem if its just screwed 13 times on both sides, because I forgot to mark them.?
Thermal pads I’m pretty sure you’re going to need them because they were there in the first place. Secondly, for the two black screws that keep the thermal paste held together, just keep screwing until it flattens out. Remember it won’t get tighter. It’ll just literally stop you from screwing any further and don’t try to force the two screws to go any further.

thanks for the tutorial but my ps4 won't start, I have 21 screws left and I couldn't connect 3 ribbons, don't change, maybe one day I'll fix them - Jacob & Miłosz
I never dared trying this, but as soon as I get a hold of the ps5 I will see if this works for the ps4. It still works but its blowing air like crazy in almost every game. I did try opening it up and removing some dust but I guess it is due to thermal paste gone bad. It will often result in high fan speeds am I right? The ps5 will mostly make my ps4 obsolete so I could take the loss. But if it works it will be a nice console to have as a spare :)
Put it this way: if the fan goes crazy then the thermal paste needs replacing. If the fan doesn’t go crazy then probably it’s a technical thing. The other thing that might help but may not be the solution is check if the ps4 is up to date and see how much memory you have left. Hope this helps.
@@FOURsCRUZ bro thanks for reply, but I recently found out it was just my monitor😭 love your videos broskie and my ps4’s fan is so quiet now bro much love.
My dad was helping me take apart my ps4 to put the thermal paste on and clean it, we used your video because you ps4 is the same as mine but after we put everything back together and plugged in the ps4 it won't turn on, any thoughts on what is wrong it obviously has something to do with the power source but I am not sure exactly what. The help would be appreciated.
First things first make sure your power button is clicking. Make sure all cables and especially the blue ribbon cables, and the power supply cord is plugged in. Finally make sure when you put the two metal shields that puts pressure on the thermal paste, that the 2 black screws are screwed in where it stops a.k.a. flattens out. Get back to me and try to do some research as well.
@@FOURsCRUZ me and and my dad just took it apart again and we realized that we didn't plug the power source into the motherboard all the way, and now it works better than ever
I just finished cleaning it bro using ur method , thanks for this tutorial , i was just wondering if you never unscrew the Disc driver screws is it okay ? Or I should've unscrew them all ?
Yeah don’t unscrew the screws from the disc Drive. The only time that I would say to unscrew The screws from the dish drive, is that if the disc drive were to not function properly, then you would have to open it up and correct its issue.
i have a question about the power supply cable. its not going out for me. i want to know if you pulled the plastic or did you wiggle the wire itself to remove it
I scared myself at the 4:00 minute mark because I was trying to not break any of the prongs or the cord, tried getting the cord from the power supply part but the cord connected to the motherboard came off instead, I checked and it all seemed fine with no damage.
@@FOURsCRUZ Indeed, also good news everything works, I was tired and forgot how I even got to some parts so I went and watched your video twice, forward and backwards 😂
Hi guys, I couldn’t remove the cable from the power unit so I put the unit down lifted the ps4 up and then I took down the green part down while the cable was still on and then I cleaned it up and put on the paste. Hope this helps people who couldn’t remove the cord cable from the power unit
The two pins are propably bent. You need to bend them back so that they are straight. It happened to me. But when I bended them back straight they powerblock fitted right in and both of the screws could fit in again
Great video, feel like personally i should just go to a repair shop tho lol, i feel like ill definitely mess something up, does anyone know much it would cost for someone to do this for you?
is it normal that my ps4 is silent but make weird noises and the top of the console is hot ? this could be because i didn’t used enough paste? (btw ur a goat)🔥🔥
Idk about the noises but if it’s just the fan blowing air you should b fine. The heat should mainly b where the GPU/CPU is. (Look at my thumbnail for reference) From there the heat should drop a couple of degrees all around. All in all the ps4 b warm all throughout the console. If it was cold then u would need to take a car to outer space 🪐, visit the hospital 🏥, to take out a loan for a puppy 🐶, figure out y u even took the time to get a grasp of trying to make sense of any of this in a one cell brain 🧠, then get an oil change.
Re-post: this has been an awesome video, definitely the best out here but unfortunately my ps4 keeps overheating. I assume its the metal piece (radiator thingy) thats making contact with the paste, thus I cannot use my console… Even cleaned the paste again and added a bit tad more (less than what you put) and it still overheats…
@@FOURsCRUZ appreciate it bro but its ok, I think it might be a part or maybe something I missed ill keep looking and let u know if I make a breakthrough xD One more question, skip ur vid to 5:12 the metal bar with the paste that would be the heat sink? Bc Im thinking its either that wich will need to be cleaned better or replaced or it might be that whole piece (I mean the power supply) that might be the problem Something is messing with the cooling…
@@FOURsCRUZ one last question, the fan is suppose to run at all times right? Even if the play station is at a cool temp? I left the top opened and the fan wasn’t running, it only ran when it overheated Think I found the problem
@@SnowJ-1001 What do you mean you left the top open? 🤔 Did you solve this problem? I think I might have the same exact problem as you. My PS4 was fine before the repair, everything looked good after the repair, but I think I put too much thermal paste, and I couldn’t hear the fan anymore at the end, possibly messed up the “closing 2 clicks” part because I only heard one click.. lol. Mad at myself for trying to be proactive with this repair. Bro did a good job with the video though.. thanks for any reply.
@@dondollaz1832 Well I was confused bc I didn’t know why my console kept overheating, so I desided to leave the top open so I could see if the fan was running or not The fan should always be running, it should not stop. Wat tools 🧰 size screwdriver. We need to take it apart the back two pieces.?
Strange they can not have same skrues all over!!
thanks for the tutorial but my ps4 won't start, I have 21 screws left and I couldn't connect 3 ribbons, don't change, maybe one day I'll fix them
- Jacob & Miłosz
Try doing it yesterday
@@FOURsCRUZman i'm trying to pług this 3 cables and i dont know-how to do this pls help
@@FOURsCRUZ man we did this ty! Now is very silent.
Dude, informative and funny as FUCK. Thank you.
Thank you
The reason I wanna change the thermal paste is to play apex without having to worry about my ps4 exploding any second 😂
Good luck
Appreciated bro
Nice video!
Appreciate you taking the time to make your comment
bro saaaaaame
🤣
Low life 😍💯
How long did you wait to play the system after pasting?
Right away! Enjoy!
What should I do, or what does it mean if I have slight input delay? Am I cooked
I added thermal new and my ps4 is not loud and i cant even heard the fan but the ps4 is hot i think i added a bit too much thermal paste
Just look up pictures of thermo paste and then compare to the amount you have applied to your PS4 and you should be fine
Ok thanks
@@FOURsCRUZ me and and my dad just took it apart again and we realized that we didn't plug the power source into the motherboard all the way, and now it works better than ever
I just finished cleaning it bro using ur method , thanks for this tutorial , i was just wondering if you never unscrew the Disc driver screws is it okay ?
Or I should've unscrew them all ?
Yeah don’t unscrew the screws from the disc Drive. The only time that I would say to unscrew The screws from the dish drive, is that if the disc drive were to not function properly, then you would have to open it up and correct its issue.
@@FOURsCRUZ thanks ,, you deserve a sub 😆
and i have one stripped screw.... nice
Now depending on what type of screw it is, you might be able to take it off with some small pliers good luck
Hello i just added new Thermal paste , and put my ps4 back togher should i turn on or wait 20 mims?
No-no I believe it’ll b 20 years before u can even think about it, yes☕️🧐
Jk, u can turn it on bro🤣
Ahaha Lol
How many times does this guy joke😂😂❤
i have a question about the power supply cable. its not going out for me. i want to know if you pulled the plastic or did you wiggle the wire itself to remove it
Hold the female end, like if it’s stuck in place and then pull/wiggle the cable from left to right.
If u have discord add me FOURsCRUZ
@@FOURsCRUZi found another way, i saw a different video specifically for the power supply and it said to pull the cable from the motherboard
Glad it to hear the good news
@@FOURsCRUZthank you for this tutorial, my ps4 is now as quite as a tesla
this put my console into safe mode
I scared myself at the 4:00 minute mark because I was trying to not break any of the prongs or the cord, tried getting the cord from the power supply part but the cord connected to the motherboard came off instead, I checked and it all seemed fine with no damage.
That moment when your heart drops 😅
@@FOURsCRUZ Indeed, also good news everything works, I was tired and forgot how I even got to some parts so I went and watched your video twice, forward and backwards 😂
Thanks g
Wot a coincidence my ps4 has a apple logo too
Forgive me, bruh, but I can't trust you. But you funny asf!🤣
U have been forgiven🤣
Hi guys, I couldn’t remove the cable from the power unit so I put the unit down lifted the ps4 up and then I took down the green part down while the cable was still on and then I cleaned it up and put on the paste. Hope this helps people who couldn’t remove the cord cable from the power unit
Goofy ahh tutorial 😂
Ur mom
I did exactly this and the two long screws for the power block are weird. One won’t stick the other is fine. It’s weird
The two pins are propably bent. You need to bend them back so that they are straight. It happened to me. But when I bended them back straight they powerblock fitted right in and both of the screws could fit in again
@ the ps blew up years ago. I think it’s done for screw wise.
Great video, feel like personally i should just go to a repair shop tho lol, i feel like ill definitely mess something up, does anyone know much it would cost for someone to do this for you?
Me?🥹🔫
5:16 Lmao an egg lol
is it normal that my ps4 is silent but make weird noises and the top of the console is hot ? this could be because i didn’t used enough paste?
I assume its the metal piece (radiator thingy) thats making contact with the paste, thus I cannot use my console…
Even cleaned the paste again and added a bit tad more (less than what you put) and it still overheats…
I can probably help u in a zoom call as a last option
@@FOURsCRUZ appreciate it bro but its ok, I think it might be a part or maybe something I missed ill keep looking and let u know if I make a breakthrough xD
One more question, skip ur vid to 5:12 the metal bar with the paste that would be the heat sink? Bc Im thinking its either that wich will need to be cleaned better or replaced or it might be that whole piece (I mean the power supply) that might be the problem
Something is messing with the cooling…
@@FOURsCRUZ one last question, the fan is suppose to run at all times right? Even if the play station is at a cool temp?
I left the top opened and the fan wasn’t running, it only ran when it overheated
Think I found the problem
@@SnowJ-1001 What do you mean you left the top open? 🤔 Did you solve this problem? I think I might have the same exact problem as you. My PS4 was fine before the repair, everything looked good after the repair, but I think I put too much thermal paste, and I couldn’t hear the fan anymore at the end, possibly messed up the “closing 2 clicks” part because I only heard one click.. lol. Mad at myself for trying to be proactive with this repair. Bro did a good job with the video though.. thanks for any reply.
@@dondollaz1832 Well I was confused bc I didn’t know why my console kept overheating, so I desided to leave the top open so I could see if the fan was running or not
The fan should always be running, it should not stop. Mine stopped and turned on alot wich wasn’t normal so I bought a new fan and replaced it and it worked, so try that if you want
Excellent video but GEEZ... This is a lot to remember.
@@KBXband don’t need to remember just follow the video as u work on it
