PS4 Slim- Disassembling, Cleaning, Thermal Paste And Thermal Pads Replacement

- I've been using my PS4 Slim extensively for the past 3 years, it serves me well and i didn't face any overheating issues. But as rule of thumb it's a good idea to change the thermal paste and do a deep clean at least one every 3 or 4 years. Thermal paste and thermal pads tend to lose their properties over time, which might cause serious overheating issues. So for this episode, we'll give our PS4 Slim the love it deserves, we'll do a complete step by step teardown disassemble and cleaning. I'll also replace the thermal paste and the thermal pads.
For the teardown you'll need, a decent quality thermal paste, since we're going to do a complete disassemble it's also a good idea to change the thermal pads. We'll also need two types of screwdrivers: Torx T8 and Phillips PH0. Some sort of prying tool and set of pliers would also be helpful.

The PS4 Slim is the best PlayStation design after PS2
To be completely honest, the PS4 Slim is pain in the a$$ to disassemble. The Xbox One is 5x times easier to work on
@@SkvalaGaming Totally agree and dissembling PS2, PS3, PS4 were nightmare. I am glad that Sony didnot follow the same approach for PS5. But the outlook design of PS2 and PS4 Slim are the best in my opinion.

That was the cleanest ps4 I've seen be cracked open first time 😮
It wasn't that clean on the inside, you can't see it very well in the video, but there was this very fine dust.

Cool video, just want to ask i have changed and cleaned my ps4 slim and changed the thermal paste and it go between 70 and 78 degrees but when i play big games like red dead redemption 2 and god of war and uncharted 4 it get the fan noise, my question is if i replace the thermal pads because i didn't will i get a change?

aAt the top left of the heat sink there are 3 holes. From memory, the 2 prongs fit in the putter holes so a screw can go through the centre

I wanted to know is it safe to put big thermal pad on the v ram like you did or should it be a small pad like the original that's on the v Ram. It gets me thinking is the original small for a reason 🤔 from technology point what do you 🤔
As you can see i've put a bigger thermal pads, the old ones weren't even covering the whole v ram chip. I don't think a bigger piece will do any harm

The cable for my power supply won't budge , it looks different to yours slightly. I'm afraid to tug hard on it. Can I still do this paste service with the cable in the power supply?
You have to remove the power cable brother and power supply, brother. You can use a set of plastic pliers are a simple prying too. Don't go too hard on it, though

Did you have to clean off the old pads from the chips ? I didn't see that. What keeps the pads in place ? Are they sticky like tape?
I didn't have to clean the old pads, they just came off

Dude me too! I was going to change the thermal paste but when I got to the unplugging the power supply point I couldn't do it so I put my ps4 back together and made it realize there wasn't going to be a thermal paste change for that guy!
Does your ps4 controller speaker also cuts out sometimes when playing? And does it also happens when wired headset are plugged in on your dualshock 4? Mine has this problems. What should i do to fix it
Try reconnecting the controller. It also might be an interference issue.

@@SkvalaGamingDo you also experience this type of problems with your ps4 slim i bought mine also in 2019 and i experience problems this 2022 year i have problems with the wires headphones when its plugged in to the dualshock 4 it sometimes cuts out during gameplay and also the controllers speakers also have this issue that it sometimes cuts out and sometimes there is input lag during gameplay when the sounds cut out in the headphones i experience slight input lag everytime the headphones cut out i put my controller to dim light or the bright light it still has the same problem do you know how to fix this?
My ps4 slim doesnt have any pads on those 2 lower nipple parts now im wondering if i should leave it in pieces and order them our what damnit

my ps4 keeps popping "unrecognized disc" each time i booted it up after cleaning. even though i didn't insert disc on it.
It looks like you damaged the cable that goes from the motherboard to the disc drive. You can buy a new one from amazon for like 10-15$

Amigo meu ps4 slim fiz a limpeza coloquei uma pasta termica de boa qualidade, e o cooler dele fica acelerando com 5 min de jogo, isso em qualquer jogo pesado ou leve, os termal pads coloquei de 1,5mm acha que isso pode estar atrapalhando? E fazendo o cooler acelerar continuamente?
Não acho que seu PS4 tenha problemas, irmão. É normal que os fãs trabalhem mais sob carga
