PS4 Slim Detailed Assembly - Thermal Paste Replacement

  • We show in detail how to assemble a PS4 Slim consols.
In a previous video we did a teardown of the PS4 Slim. In this video we take that same console and show how to assemble each part of it.
We start with the disc drive (blu ray drive) and fan already installed then apply thermal paste onto the APU and install the motherboard into the console frame. We then put the bottom metal plate in and plug in the disc drive ribbon cables. After those are connected we put the APU spacer and clamp on then screw the top metal plate down.
After that's done we show how to install the power supply and wifi cables. Once that's done it's time for the outer plastic shell pieces.
Once those are done we are finished with the assembly.

I'ma be honest with you, your console has less screws than mine, I have around 4 extra. I took my console apart using your disassembly video, I used a pocket knife for the Philipps screws, and needle nose pliers to grip the "special" screws and tediously unscrewed them, didn't strip one screw. I'm no professional, but I'm a smoker and live in a basement, eventually I got tired of my console sounding like it was getting ready for a Nascar race. I bought it used, and turns out they never took it apart as the sticker and everything was intact. Putting it back together I did manage to end up with 2 extra screws a black and silver, even with placing them exactly in the order I took them out, however honestly I have never heard this thing so silent, and it doesn't get hot anymore. I've been having these problems since I got it, but they only got worse, so thank you for the help with this video, man. I greatly appreciate it.

Damn, without your help I wouldn't have figured out how to disassemble, change the thermal paste and reassemble my PS4 slim. Thank you for your beautiful guide!1
A little difficulty that occurred to me was that sometimes I don't know where to screw up some screws, specifically those of the plate up to the motherboard (the silver screws), because there are two types woth different lengths.
Except for this little detail, this video and the previous (the teardown) are literally a life saver.
They allowed me to save more or less 90 euros!
    So, thank you sincerely! 💪🏼😊

Anyone else get a little nerviness when he tightened on APU screw all the way then the other? Maybe it's not the same as PC's CPU but I personally would do it evenly.
Edit: the reason to do it evenly is to distribute the thermal paste more evenly. But I do imagine as it is still a sensitive part that the technique of making a few turns at a time with a hand tool would be more ideal. Regardless of skill/experience. Just my own two cents, take it or leave it.

A part came out during reassemble and I’m not sure where it goes. It looks like a small bracket and it says “b5” on it.

Hi, i have a question, i just changed the paste to MX 4, and when i turned on the console went ok, it took a little more to boot, but it went on.
The thing is, i initiate a game and then it shuted down, i don't know if a i put a lot of paste or little paste, but i tried to imitate the size of your paste, but what i see while watching your video again, is that the pad that is in the right side of the second processor (The SIE that is near the EXT and HDMI port) doesn't have a Tpad, does that can make the PS4 go off?, right now if i let cool the console it can boot, my second question is, what thermal pad do you recommend?, and other question, can i put a little paste in those pad's? or that can create a bad transfer of heat?.

I took my PS4 slim apart and took the antenna out. My antenna was plug in on the green square. My green square doesn’t have a good brick/square on it. Is that bad?

Anyone know why my disk drive now doesn't work? All cables in none damaged and I did not take it apart to the point that I needed to put thermal paste in (only cleaned heatsink/power/1 side of motherboard)
