10 were PS4 originals and 2 were slims. They had a variety of problems including disk drive issues, a faulty hard drive, a broken HDMI port, the blue light of death (BLOD), and the white light of death (WLOD). I do sometimes sell them but only to people who understand what's going on with them so they are 100% clear on the problem.

It's a usual thing that happens. People throw away equipment at the slightest of malfunctions. Have to blame the first service side as well (the ones who must've checked out the items prior to someone technical doing the repair).
My neighbor once wanted to throw away his PC once because it wasn't working and I saw him but PC next to trash can and I asked him why is he throwing it away? he said it's not working, it's been sitting in his closet for months and I said if I can take some parts out and I would throw it away and he said sure but it's probably dead. I took it in, cleaned everything inside in details and it freaking started to work, sold it for 300€....that was the easiest 300€ to be honest

How I improved the rolles on a reel-2-reel tape recorder once was by actually using a steel brush on a drill and just lest it perforate the top surface of the pinch roller a little; where I had the roller on a small screwdriver (or you can use another rod that fits). Which really helped increase the grip on the old rubber rollers from the 1970's. So if these rollers ever get too smooth that would be a good option.

If I had money to build a console in a factory then my consoles would NEVER have APU's soldered(socket only) and it would never have error codes. It would tell you what to do. If it ever got to having errors anyway.

My brother had a cockroach problem at his apartment. He kept his place very clean too.
I opted to clean his ps3 and to my horror it was filled with dead cockroaches and feces.
When I say "filled" I literally mean it. Carcasses littered the poor thing.

I'm a smoker and am stunned by the amount of dirt in there. You can grow vegetables in there. No idea how it ended up that bad. As I said, I'm a heavy smoker and all of my systems are pristine inside. Highly doubting that only smoke caused that.
What kind of smokers do you know? Smoking inside any room without at least a huge window open and a fan is already disgusting, and this is coming from a guy that's been smoking since he was 14

Thanks for the video, my ps4 started to not accept discs so I took it apart and cleaned the rollers, one of them was popped out and cleaned my fan, awesome results.

Yould be surprised how often the inside of peoples stuff looks like that. They keep thier consles close to the ground so it sucks up all that dirt and hair. Often tucked far back so also where all the rooms dust is collecting anyway. If you dont want to take apart your consles atleast take a vacume hose to the vents to help pull some of the dirt back out.
Or compressed air to blow it out. Working retail every console brought in would make a plume of dust.
Would use a mini hoover!
@Matt. using it on the board yes is bad against the vents is fine(not amazing) but is far better then doing nothing. If you have an air blower (a device that blows air like a hairdryer but without heat) thats best. If you bring it into your local gamestop they might let you use theres.

Wow that was informative especially something as basic as just cleaning the disc rollers and cooling coils. In one instance I was able to fix my son's PS4 controller by spraying some cleaner on the joystick swivels on the dual shocks. Felt like the hero of the day lol.

This was a really good video and I ended up ordering the tool kit that was linked in the description and it saved me my ps4 disc drive was broken and when my tool kit came in I easily fixed it everything in the kit was high quality and I only have to wait 5 days for it
Good job on a well laid out concise tutorial! As for things being cruddy or have had cockroaches or layered with tar from heavy smoking, thats just reality in the repair business. I do miss electronics repair.

Not everyone has the tools and skills to deal with those problems, especially when soldering gets involved. However it is nice to know how to deal with such problems.
12 hours work for $166 profit? I doubt he would care- some people would rather just spend a few minutes listing and shipping for quick profit than spending hours fixing.
