This video showcases some of my black light and invisible black light art and ultra violet responsive murals. All of these murals change or appear when lit with a black light. Black light and invisible black light art are my favorite forms of expression as an artist. I hope you enjoy

Super excited to see, my little sister has always asked me to paint something like that for her. I don't think I have that skill, I just stick to cartoon paintings but these murals are my favorite pieces of art work I've seen in a long time! I can't wait to see more! keep up these amazing skills!

Imagine having a sleepover and you didn't tell your friends about this, they turn off the light and get tripped out by the room change.
I did my first invisible night sky ceiling at my old house a while ago. I used to have parties with just moody lighting in the living room. Around midnight, when everyone would be in the right space, I'd make the switch. White ceiling becomes night sky. When it's not there, then it's there, it's mind blowing.
It would be amazing if you would do a tips and tricks video on this. I'm currently learning the craft and there really isn't much info available for a budding hobbyist.

Thanks!! Actually, the fireworks are fiber optics, nothing to do with paint. They are literally thousands of fishing line sized fibers pushed through tiny holes in the wall, that carry light to the tips from a main source.

This is so amazing. I have one question though, how did you make those shooting stars and lightning bolts move? I was baffled. Was it a projection? A screen underneath the paint? How?
fiber optics. thousands of tiny fibers are pushed through the back of the drywall, all attached to a light source. They are like fishing line thin.

Your art is absolutely gorgeous! I wish I was that great: since I live too far away to ask for you to paint a room for me - though I'd gladly pay up if I could've. I see you say that some other UV colors fade away, will the brand you use (wildfire) also do so?
And I do think that tutorials by you would be amazing. It might not be many using UV lights now, but I think it might become more if they know how to do it. Not that I mind experimenting on my own, because I'm already sold on learning this.
+Charmie Thank you so much for the compliments. I do travel and I also can do work on canvas and ship it. Besides that, getting to your questions, yes, all black light reactive paint will fade somewhat. Each color and each brand is different, but longevity is not one of it's strongest characteristics. Wildfire is supposed to be the best, but the invisibles fade the fastest. They just took red off of the shelf while they deal with this problem. The red, even though it's over $800.00 per gallon, may completely disappear in 2-3 years, while the blues and whites might look exactly the same as it did originally. The other UV colors, not the clear invisibles last much longer, but no black light paint will last outside. We are getting a printing process down that lasts much longer than the paint, so I will be making reproductions somewhat soon. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to tutorials. Thanks!

Curtis you should write a book! I'd love to read or watch tutorials on how to do similar work. Or even a Udemy class! Do you know of a process that would be ok to use on a tapestry or fabric for people who want to be able to bring the art with them if they move?

Miri Soji, thank you so much. I don't have any tutorials, but I do have a few time lapse videos up. So far I've only come across a few other people who work with this medium, so I'm not sure how many people I'd really be able to help by posting how to videos. But the answer to your question about fabric and taking it with you is yes. I do a lot of this on canvas and put it up like wallpaper. I also have just started painting normal framed canvases that will be reproduced as prints and sold in the somewhat near future. The printing process is still being worked on. Hope this helped!
I've seen uv ink being used in a household printer but have not found a reliable place to order from. I bet your prints will come out amazing!
+Miri Soji That's different. UV ink is not the same as the invisible UV ink. We do get prints done, but in Switzerland or Sweden, can't remember. We have done prints, but the process has limitations. So we are in the process of getting it out here and doing it right. Should be pretty soon. I can't wait!

Are the fireworks and lightning special effects for the video or was it really on the wall
Ha! That’s funny, I could imagine myself editing in fake fireworks. I know, some stuff does need more explanation. Yes they are real, they are fiber optics. They drill insanely small holes in the walls, and push little tiny plastic looking fibers through the wall from the back, I paint the wall, and then they cut the fibers flush with the wall. Light is sent to the individual fibers blah blah blah. It’s real. 😁

Was the lighting fireworks and shooting star really put on the mirror or was that special effects added to the video
There are zero computer effects added, but there is also no mirror, so I’m not sure what you are referencing.

All of the lightning and fireworks are fiber optics, but there is no mirror. I think that you are seeing the second wall of that mural, and you think it’s a reflection, whereas it is just the wall next to it.
Not that I could afford you but what would you charge to do a bass drum head? Or is that even something you would mess with? Your art is incredible.

Curtis, what brand of paint are you using here? I want to create a similar mural for a smaller, 2 by 3 foot area and I would love your help it took me a long time to find this video. I'm curious about what brands of paint you use? I found neon glow on amazon in spray cans, but I also have paint guns that I can use... Please let me know, would love to pick your brain, Sal
Sal Mastropolo I use all Wildfire paint. I don't know what neon glow is, or if it works, but I do know that Wildfire does. Other invisibles will fade and disappear after a year. Not sure if you're going invisible.

Do you find it hard to work with wildfire paints? Do you have to add many layers to make it opaque?
Very! I try not to use many of the actual fluorescent colors, and use mostly invisibles. But it's not always possible. I don't like the look of fluorescent colors, and they just aren't' natural. But if the situation calls for it, normally, I will mix opaque colors into the fluorescents, which will make them glow less, but cover decently. Then I will put another layer of another color that glows fully, or add invisibles. Every situation is different, there is a lot of thinking and pre planning involved. Sometimes, because of the opacity issues, I'll cut stencils and airbrush them. The airbrush lays a solid, much more consistent layer down, sometimes the brush just smears the paint around. But sometimes I do have to just paint many layers and deal with it.
