Today I try my best at painting a cyberpunk city using UV and glow in the dark paint, in addition to my regular acrylic paint. What a challenge! And not inspired by the Cyberpunk 2077 hype at all! ;)

I saw black mesa but i was just enjoying the process
Half life ( black mesa) / fallout ( nuka cola ) , Cyberpunk ^^ ?
Fink manufacturing and Plasmids from Bioshock!
3 Paintings in 1 plus a find the reference game, give yourself a pat on the back because it looks amazing. Great job, love it and would love to see more creations like this.
“it’s a lot of canvas to fill” she says, as she stands infront of the entire wall she painted over epicly
It's all about perspective.
A wall is a different kind of canvas...
Muahaha she's amazing
as a person that does drawings, and stuff. a wall painting is not so bad, because the area is bigger, small details are easy to fill in, and look correct. but on large canvas...lots of tiny detail and steady hand work is needed...and can consume hours...i just finished a 9x11 drawing, from concept to sketch, to ink, to paint, took 6 days, and over 12 hours. because on the tiny detail i had to move slow, to keep a steady hand.
Garbage Knight damn do you even tire out from that kind of work?
I appreciate her mentioning being at war with herself to continue painting even tho it was in rough shape. Whenever i paint, I always hate on myself cause it never turns out how i want it to. She is correct, you have to keep painting cause thats how you get better! Thank you and it looks absolutely stunning!
So true! My painting also never turns out the way I want it to! 😭 But I keep painting 🎨 to keep up n get better!
Oh, yes.
One thing I recently reinforced in my own painting journey is that I have a tendency to get frustrated and stop early. I had been judging my work too harshly too early in the process. Once I stopped beating myself up and continuing on (trust the process) my paintings started getting MUCH better! Just keep going! You got this!
No shit Sherlock
How else do u expect to get better at anything? Once you mess up just quit? No shit you have to keep trying to get better..... It's called common sense. Obviously the more experience you have the better you are going to get.... Wtf 🤨
"It just stares at me "finish me" and then I don't" this is about the most maker-mood ever! *stares at humongous box of UFO's*
Haha so true
when she said the painting stared at her like a cubist nightmare, I felt that
But to be fair "cubistic nightmare" is what cyberpunk is all about...
I absolutely adore the fact that you put a clock in the background. People who complain about the price that artists charge for paintings should take a look a this and realize the insane amount of work/time that goes into art.
This painting is amazing!
Oh and... Golden paint’s the best 😍
That's why one of the best tips any artist can get is, when they are starting out, to paint small paintings. They just sell better. A painting 10 x 20 is one QUARTER of the size of a 20 x 40. So it will take 4x the work at least, and now you have to find someone with more wall space and more money. You might love the large canvas to paint on and to appriciate, but the small canvases sell quick.
You should watch Drawfee, they aren't shy about revealing how much their digital art takes to do. From 2-4 hours for a simple character on a background to 10 hours spent learning Blender to add an ideally proportioned anime-style interior.
effort and time spent dont translate into price
That depends am I buying the original piece or a print? Because I'm not paying top dollar for a print.
Right. I am so inspired to do this too!
That looks AMAZING! Wow
Hey, you need a checkmark next to your channel name ;) Thank you so much!
It makes me really happy when two of my favourite channels like each other
What is is this scent? Am I smelling a... collab? :O
@@Nerdforge recently applied so now just waiting 🤷♂️
A wild disheveled goblin appeared in your comment section.
Omg I want this painting so bad. Also, the hack with the painters tape for the straight lines just changed my whole world. This is incredible. I just found this channel like 3 hours ago and I am binging all the content. I don’t know where this channel has been my whole life, but I am glad I found it.
As an architect... (and synthwave fan) girl! when you revealed the painting under UV and then in the dark I got excited. Shouted and all... haha. Great work. Producing Art is beautifully chaotic. Cheers from Puerto Rico.
I’m glad I’m not the only one with vanishing points going off into other countries. 😂😂
hahahhaha
I wish I could wrap my brain around vanishing points without banging my head on the wall.
or ceilings
Could you explain vanishing points to me? I don't paint or draw soooo IDK what that even is 🙈
@@DaemlichesStueck it’s the area where all the perspective lines meet in the distance.
That painting definitely needs to become a print. Do it, and I'd buy a copy from your merchstore.
Working on a limited set of signed and numbered prints. Follow on Instagram or Twitter to stay updated on it💜🙏
How do prints work? Do they have the same glow in the dark effects and everything like the original does? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question. I would love to have this painting in my house.
@@Nerdforge yes please
@@Nuke21 there are different types of printing methods. The one I think will work best for this one is screen printing. In order to get the glow effects, she will need to have special inks mixed. Then using screen printing, add the different colours in layers.
This is a doable print, but will end up fairly expensive due to the amount of custom inks she will need.
P.s. watch a few videos on screen printing to learn more about it.
My fiancé would LOVE a print of this!!
This is actually the coolest damn painting. I'm sure a Martina will be worth billions of zonks when we get to the cyberpunk age!
Man, I always love your projects, but this one is SUPER cool. You did a great job combining normal paint with UV AND glow in the dark paint. It's actually nuts. Definitely worth the effort!
Martina: "I dabble in painting"
*Proceeds to paint the coolest damn thing ever*
Lol right?
And she's still not satisfied with how it looks. "Could've done better", she said.
Yup, a true artist indeed... 😄👌
This looks so amazing! And the ghost town may be an unintended side effect, but it looks pretty cool too
Absolutely unintended, but I'm really intrigued by it. Adds a new dimension !
@@Nerdforge It is the afterglow of all the lights in a power outage...
I'm late to Nerdforge. I only learned about this channel recently through Linus Tech Tips. Skjera Bagera! I really appreciated how Martina expresses, "Hey! Finish me." As if the art was asking to be completed. Which she replies, "And then I don't." That's so real and it would be something hard for me to express. I get into these pauses too, and I want to have things perfect but I know it'll take time and effort. Such a real thing to say of her! Great motivation to find the inspiration that started the project! That Cyberpunk Painting looks awesome! Love the 3-in-1 take on it!
There’s a spray paint from Montana spray paint called Disco white. It’s literally just white fluorescent paint. I use it as a primer for neon paints, cause they are all transparent.
You are too hard on yourself. That painting is awesome!
It's a typical maker habit. You as the maker know about every mistake that viewers don't see.
This girl is truly a multitalent
Shes kinda attractive too! Its a plus plus
Yes I agree. She can do construction, models, wiring, painting, ect. And is damn good at it all.
Seeing you struggle at several points during the painting process felt so real and relatable and when you pushed forward anyway to create a really stunning piece of art is so motivational. I have gotten stuck at those types of stages so many times and can rarely find the strength to push past it but I think now I want to at least give it another try.
This is incredibly cool. I’m not usually a fan of neon stuff, (came here bc I needed to learn about UV paint for a music video costume commission, which is def. not my normal style)….. but I kinda want to give this a try!
Also, I really want to thank you for being open and real about some of the struggles that go along with doing paintings- when you feel like you don’t want to do it anymore, you’re tired, the phase where every stroke feels terrible. It’s actually super validating to know that a fantastic artist like yourself has those same struggles, and that it’s okay to go through those different phases. Thanks for showing us reality and for the ideas of how to push through it ❤️
"Hey. Finish me."
and then I don't..
that is entirely completely my crafting life. So relatable.
My little sister is just like that...
my girlfriend is always reminding me to, sometimes I forget in the spirit of the moment
This Would look stunning in a metal frame with UV lights raised from the frame so the painting pops in the dark.
this is literally awesome! please don't burn out over these huge projects. It deserves huge respect to do this over 12 days straight.
If you're just a hobbyist painter or crafter this detailled work may be possible in months on the evenings after your regulars and consume weekends. You can drown in all the ideas you have on a piece like this. The digital artworks to this style are not less beautiful than this, but if you look closely you find things that are kind of off, because it's mashed together from many already exisiting pictures/paintings. Doing this by hand, means that everything needs to be thought about. Placing, blending, direction, color .... and it worked out to give us this astonishing piece :)
Have a good one :)
Gorgeous piece! I love that you added "Mistborn" in there 👀
I would love to see you paint/make something inspired by Sanderson!
It is, trully, a special kind of painting this one. Hard to be done but you it came out amazing with the touch of UV paint to act like neon lights
Soo cool!!! Came out great, aesthetic nailed. Congrats!!!
Thank you so much, Gader! 😄🙏
ok but WHAT IF you put this on your wall and mounted a UV light on your ceiling pointed at it so that it'll always glow like that??? IT'D BE SUCH A STATEMENT PIECE!! ;-;
Yes! That's what I have done :)
@@Nerdforge AAH! That's SO NICE! You honestly did such a great job with the painting, it's such a dope concept! Do you think you'll use the UV paints for more paintings? It'd be so cool to see it added into a fantasy one, like a dungeon with glowing crystals or something!
[Edit] I just thought about the idea and how cool it'd be with a crystallized dungeon emitting purple and blue lights that reflect in a pond below with some water lilies with glowy flowers and fireflies and I just- aaaah!! The UV paints just open a whole new world? I'm getting too excited about this haha.
for someone who isn't used to cityscapes, this came out extremely nice
“I feel like no matter what I do it gets worse.”
Me: I want to buy the painting 😳
Me too
@@stephaniekipf2424 Me too, Let's all buy the painting and i'll keep it at my house......what? sounds fair to me.
yeah i could buy that painting too O.o its so unique
Am I the only one who like desperatly wants to own that painting?
same
Nope, I immediately went to her site to see if it was up for sale. And then I saw there's a print, which is out of print 😢
@@HerrFinsternis same 😂😭
Yea but it's probably toxic 😂⚠️
we all wanna own it XD
*looks at the painting* "Hey, nice to see Tron getting some attention again."
I LOVE THIS! You totally captured the aesthetic and raw, futuristic feel of a Cyberpunk dystopia. Amazing 👏
Here's a fun fact: those aren't even the most vibrant fluo acrylics you can get, that belongs for now to the Green Stuff World ones when taken as a collection, and for individual selected colors like pink the honor belongs to Stuart Semple and his weird but accessible creations that break records, Tom Scott did a video just on the pink because it's almost unbelievable, I have some and even in daylight it's incredibly bright, then you point the UV light at it and your mind explodes
i need this
@@npetrikov3801 Here's the Tom Scott video on this pink: ruclips.net/video/_NzVmtbPOrM/видео.html
It's absolutely wonderful! I like the three-in-one painting & all these bright neon colours :D
i'm impressed. I was never the disciplinarian to get away with painting things half that size with a lot less in them. And you have created some that's different and unique on so many levels… well, at least three. I like the way the painting draws you in and the use of the sky bridge to direct your view point. I also like the use of perspective to give height and also draw your eye up. i also like the use of colour and tone; reminds me of Akira in some ways. Brilliant.
You are my inspiration of being nerdy , whenever my creativity is low I visit your channel . A long time sub and follower and liker of your content . I wish you continue to do more epic paintings like this , and alone in the nature one's because 5 paintings in one video was awesome . Will you do more of these?? By the way lots of love , from India 🇮🇳
Martina: We basically have three paintings in one, I´d say that´s pretty good value
Me: You BET IT IS!!
So awesome, the ghost town added the perfect touch, SO COOL
Don't mind my gaping mouth. That's just what happens when I'm truly in awe of people's multiple mad skills. It looks amazing!! It is a brilliant work of art and it's not surprising, considering the genius behind it!
Thank you for the nice comment 💜🙏
You are quite talented, yourself, Peyton. Not many people are able to talk clearly while their jaw is dragging across the floor... ;)
@@Nerdforge Thank you for being you! 💙
3 paintings in one is Great value! :) This is one of the best paintings I have ever seen, Great job!!! I also love that you didn't give up and that you saved some of the steps that interested you the most for later to keep your drive! I also liked that you added the clock for people to see the reality of your time and effort...people can learn a lot about painting by watching this video.
I love the addition of the Plasmids sign. It's a reference to BioShock, and it's something that could be a feasible product in a cyberpunk setting. I think that's kind of beautiful and poetic.
This was the motivation I needed to finish an old painting and then start a new one! Can't wait!!!
So glad to hear that! :D
This is an AWESOME Painting and I really like the sings to other games like Fall Out, Half Life, Portal, Boarderlands, and Bio Shock.
Great painting and I really like how you peopled it up because I'm always seeing cyber city work with one person or no people.
The finished project is amazing. I was curious how the glow in the dark would look, but some digital works don't even have that kind of pop. Very well done
Don't believe her when she said "it looks bad." It will always turns out awesome.
“What do cities have? Pipes and wires and... stuff?”
Yes. Yes they do.
This is awesome!! I'm a 50 yr old artist who mostly paints my traditional style paintings in Australia. Your work is stunning!! ❤❤❤
Love the Fog/Steam effect with the Florescent Blue.
new challenge: guess Martina's hair colour in the next video. 99% impossible
It WILL have purple parts. Otherwise it's her evil twin. Since, íyou know, she can't grow an "evil mustache"
@@Imurai Her evil twin will *leave* gravel on her neighour's property?

There is just one valid comment for this video:
"SHUT UP, AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!"
It's so beautiful. You did a wonderful job! Your hard work was so worth it. Thank you for making this video.
first off. i remember the first video i watched on this channel where you made the custom controller charging station! fast forward, i got into glass painting awhile back. i recently finished the cyberpunk edgerunners anime and found myself wanting to do something to that effect and started looking for cyberpunk painting videos. now here i am blowm away by this video. incredible work
It's amazing how it actually looks like daytime when the light is on and night time when the UV light is on. Really impressive!
Non artists watching the clock: omg! That hours going by and she basically done NOTHING!
Me:.... yeah, seems about right
When you turn the lights off just wow
is so cool !
Martina: "I like do 'dabble' in painting from time to time"
0:06 Makes a fucking masterpiece on the wall.
Another breathtaking masterpiece
Thank you so much, Caddy!
I am gobsmacked, flabbergasted, on my knees chanting "We're not worthy", in love with the multiple layers and how she brought forth three different levels of awesome in one painting... it is an incredibly good piece of work, skill and talent... and to think, she was **Experimenting** with a lot of it!!!! I love this channel and both of them for sharing their skills with us!!!
Absolutely nailed that perspective! Bravo!
OMG best painting i ever seen. I love Cyberpunk cities and this 3 in 1 is sooo cool, better than any printed photoshop stuff. I would love this in my livingroom and install a blacklight spotlight for it.
I am having pain in my jaws because I sit here with mouth wide open. This painting is unbelievable awesome. The combination of normal paint uv and glow in the dark is stunning. Great work
Wow, thank you so much!
everytime i'm talking with my friends while i draw, i always say "this looks so f*cking horrible"......... then they say "artist opinion arent valid (about their own pieces)" so, if you say that this painting is horrible... oh well, your opinion aren't valid >:(
Beautiful work! A painting that can be appreciated under three different types of light. Fascinating.
I want to see a custom frame made for this that cycles between 'normal' edge lighting, UV, and no lighting at regular intervals. Maybe with some sort of fade/flickering effect between each phase.
I thought you are more "medieval" kind of artist but this is absolutely amazing! 😍 You are very talented and the most important thing is that you are working really hard to make progress 👍
If I could, I would have bought this AMAZING painting, and spend hours to look at it. It would be amazing to see reproductions on Displate. AMAZING WORK !
That would be cool! And thank you! :D
Definitely have to make this into a shirt
Wow! The detail in this painting is beyond amazing!
This was freaking sick!!!! Like I love that you paint fantasy and just things I wouldnt think about painting, this just blew me away, and makes want to paint something like it!!!!
woooooooah this is SO COOL. Loving how dramatically the mood shifts depending on the light! Same place yet entirelly different. It would be so awesome to have this at home
Hi NerdForge, i'm From Brazil and i follow your videos everytime, and you are THE BEST ARTIST in my opinion!! You are awesome!
I love watching this one again and again, I was lucky enough to get print 99/100 and I proudly display it my living room 🥰
Thanks you for sharing the products, I’ve been looking for those types of paints. And I absolutely love the way you made the foggy glow of the UV paint.
Omg, Martina I love it, don’t sell yourself short...nobody has your talent.
THE NUKA COLA ADD!!! HAHA YESSSSSS!!! I was like waiiiittttt is she? SHE IS! 😂 love it!
And the sign for Black Mesa :)
Thank you! This was an amazing insight into using florescent paints. I planned on using them on a guitar and your work here help a lot!
I absolutely love your guys show. One of my favorite "tv shows" online. I look forward to each new video. You have inspired me to go make mg own art show in 2021. Keep up the good work and keep spreading the positivity. Cheers!
Looks epic at night
I can’t believe I didn’t see that you had posted till now. Chances are you will miss this comment but I still want to say that I had abandoned making things a long time ago and since I got to watching your videos it’s been a major inspiration. I went from being scared to start to hand making everyone’s Christmas present this year, and honestly the thing that kept me going when i got scared I was in over my head was “nerdforge would be proud of me.” So yeah.. thanks for making the content you do
Three layers painting In a canvas? !! O.M.G ! Martina, honey seriously!! You and Hansi have a gold mine for brains and the skills to make you "financially secure". Go for it ! Do not stand only making videos for patrons. This three-layer project should be a further motive to start making paintings and sell it to a gallery. Do not rush yourself. Baby steps. You have the means of and the skills .Just do it !! :) ❤️
I realy love the concept of the day and night cycle. Cyberpunk is the perfect setting for such a painting. I would love to put such a painting to my wall. But it's probably way over my budget. Congratulations with your talent!
I am sick for a while now so i couldn‘t go shoping for christmas presents. You inspired me to bind my first leatherbound notebook as a present and i used your guide. Ist turned out better than i could ever imagine and i am so happy. It kept me busy and sane. So thank you for existing and keeping me sane. Love from Germany
It looks freaking goshdarn good. And the fact it has 3 different 'painting' in it, it makes it even more cool. And btw, I think that clock at the beginning really helped a lot of people, me included, to put into perspective just how much time it takes to even build the colours.
Thank you for being open and sharing that inner struggle of a painter, when I go threw it I feel like no one gets it cause my inner circle aren’t artist but yeah big motivation seeing you pulling threw and finishing a bad ass piece! So yeah keep it up!👍🏽👍🏽💪🏽✊🏽👏🏽🔥🙃
OK, I stumbled upon this video because I wanted to see what a painting done with glow in the dark paint looks like during the day/night.
You are super talented! And you are very beautiful. And the painting is 🔥💥!
Beautiful! I can definitely relate to that time where I'm like 50-75% done with some creative thing and just hit the wall of "I'm don't want to do this anymore!" It's exciting when artists push through that! Thanks for sharing :)!
There are metal, screw on piping tip for paint, I would suggest those with the glow paint.
Thata's amazing. The three layers is so unique and an absolute joy. Wonderful work!
Everything you said was so relatable.
Looks so awesome!

This painting is absolutely incredible. You are so talented xx
Thank you so much 😀
I found it very interesting that you used tape to create your straight lines to the multiple vanishing points, that's a trick I never thought artists would use. Great project, very creative!
This video introduced me to your channel and I am STAYING! Great painting love seeing each version change with the light.
This is so cool. It’s like the time of day in the painting changes with the real time. That’s not a canvas, that’s a window.
I love the bioshock easter egg, i think it fits the whole aesthetic perfectly😍
ok this is freaking cool. I've seen UV paintings before but they were organic space murals. I've never seen anything like this and of course its my favorite genre.
I will never get tired of repeating THAT YOU'RE LITERALLY ONE OF THE MOST TALENTED PEOPLE I KNOW
This makes me want to paint something that glows.
Your CYBERPUNK City looks Beautiful, I wonder what other painting idea's or crafting idea's you have in stored, keep up the great work Nerdforge. :)
So I’ve watched three videos from this channel and I’m blown away buy how amazing this channel is! I’m so glad you and Black Beard did a video collab together because I found out about this channel!
