I've never done FPP, but always thought it was beautiful. Jen, you have amazing tutorials. You break it down for beginners and make us feel they're not out of reach. Thank you!
Received the beautiful kit and am following along little by little. I did make a big mistake in cutting the green fabric #3 which is a 9x10 square. I just started cutting the strips and then realized I should have turned the fabric so that I would cut a 10" strip but I had already cut all 9"--the wrong direction for the strips so I didn't have a 10" strip. Had to make a run to the fabric store to find a similar green fabric and start over with my #3 green strips. Oh well. It's going to be fine. I didn't get the pink backing fabric with my kit but was sent a substitute light green backing that I have replaced with another pink fabric I had in my stash. Thank you so much for your tutorial video. I can watch a little, follow your instructions then watch a little more. It's great!
Kit ordered! I started quilting during the pandemic and I just FPP`d two hearts for the first time last month and enjoyed it more than I thought I Iwould. So this is right on time for me and will be my first ever kit. Thank you!
I've never done FFP, but this video is crystal clear with your instructions. You have set us up for success! Thank you our first intro into this very beautiful method. I love all the patterns so far, can't wait to see all twelve.
Kit ordered! After watching your video I feel brave enough to try paper piecing again! Thank you for all the little tips. I failed in the past trying to center the pieces that didn't line up. Such a simple thing to 'fold and look leaving a tail on one end', yet I gave up before figuring it out! Thank you!
Hi and thanks a lot for explaining so well! First time I see and this I would like to give it a try some day; it looks like fun and the result is beautiful! Have a great day! 🌸🌺
Neat tutorial! Little feedback - I'd have done a ladder stitch or measured out the handing sleeve so that I could catch it by stitching in the ditch in the border.
Hello. What type and weight of thread do you use for the FPP? You mentioned the Microtex 70 needle, but I didn't hear you say what type (cotton or polyester or rayon, etc.) of thread and the weight of the thread. Love this tutorial! You make it look so easy and such a gorgeous project. Love that it can be completed in less than a day! Thank you.
The threads that we used for this project are Sulky 50wt Cottons Threads and you can purchase them on our website. www.shabbyfabrics.com/c6901/foundation-paper-piecing-products Happy that you love them and this tutorial! We appreciate your support and comment! - Abby
Wouldn't you need to keep the stitch length short as you had in the whole project to be able to remove the paper easily? You said you could leave it short or make it longer when sewing the segments together. The shorter length IS to perforate the paper to make it easier to remove, it they move it to longer they may pull out the stitches.
I use a 1.0 to 1.5. I believe Jen said 1.5. I try to use shorter. And hope I don’t have to seam rip. I’m doing it to one project bc I’m out of that fabric. I’m almost done, slowly but surely. I’m using a scalpel team ripper and little at a time.
Wow!! I just found you and FPP. 😊 this is so beautiful, great tutorial! I was wondering if there is a way to turn the monthly blocks into a quilt? I’m not really one to hang the block like you have in the video.
Hi Melanie! We're so glad these projects have inspired you. Some folks are choosing to turn these into a project by eliminating the binding and sewing the blocks together. You can get some more inspiration in our FB Group: facebook.com/groups/shabbyfabricsquiltersgroup -Michelle
Love this! Great tutorial. Can't wait to get started. I love Tulips! Would like to practice some binding also... I couldn't seem to find the videos??? Are there links please and Thank You!

Your tutorial was full of great details for foundation paper piecing! I have purchased some of your craft holders and use them for hanging my projects on the wall. I really like the table stand holder you used to hang your project! Could you tell me where you purchased it or the name of it? Thanks.
We're so glad this project inspires you! You may be able to find a similar stand if you search "adjustable purse hanger" on Amazon. Thanks so much for watching!! -Michelle

Thank you! We've actually had that for quite a while. I believe you may find something similar on Amazon if you google "adjustable purse stand". -Michelle
New to the show, but couldn't the "hanging sleeve" be attached to the backing fabric before the quilting takes place? Gosh, I hope this isn't a foolish question! Normally, I re-watch the video before asking questions!
As long as you don’t quilt thru that area. Otherwise, the rod won’t be able to go thru the hanging sleeve. That’s why ppl usually wait and put it on after. 🌷
Hi user-ib3hu8td9g - The technique for stitching down the leaves will be the same as for the tulip flower portion. Is there a particular part of the instructions you need further guidance with? -Michelle
The paper does need to be removed - you can see that Jen starts to do this around minute 28. Leaving the paper would cause more bulk, and a crinkly sound, plus if the project gets wet, the ink may stain the fabrics. -Michelle
This is the first time I have done paper piecing so the next completing the next section (E) was difficult as there are no written instructions with the pattern and only section D is covered in the video.
Hi Janice. If you need more assistance with the technique feel free to check out our other foundation paper piecing videos in this series! Thanks for watching. -Kristen
@@ShabbyFabrics oh! No wonder. I found Fairy Frost and wondered why it wasn’t all there. ;). I am thinking of making several of these and like the colors used on the video. I already purchased the kit and some Fairy Frost. Can you list out the others and I will take a look?
One of the pinks is Fossil Fern by Benartex, another is "Solid-ish" by Timeless Treasures. The pink words are from Modern Love by Northcott & I know one of the greens is New Hue by Benartex, as well as a "Solid-ish". Hope this helps :) -Michelle

when you refer to stitch length is it in mm or inches?
Hi @user-xt1pp8tc7w - we are referring to inches when we talk about stitch length. Hope this helps! -Michelle
