I just ordered all of these kits. When making decorative pieces, I like to add beads. I think I will embroider thin antennas with a small seed bead at the tips.
I am just completing the Pink Rose project from April. I LOVE IT1 It takes a bit to "get it", but once You get the mojo, it moves along. Thank you for these instructional videos. Waiting to receive the Purple project- looking forward to the rest of them
I got my kit recently and can’t wait to get started on it. I raise Monarchs and Swallowtails so butterflies are especially magical to me. Last year I released over 1,000 Monarchs and 300 Swallowtails. I may use the extra foundation papers and make one in oranges and black colors to try and mimic a Monarch. Thank you so much for the great tutorial. :)
One thing I learned is to crease on every line before placing fabric. Also using a roller press on each seam, iron at the end. Creasing first seems to make adding each piece a bit easier. Great video. Love this fabric.
On the add a quarter ruler the beveled edge was made to crease the paper exactly the way Jen used the cardboard. It say so on the directions - I have one. Love this project!! I’m going to order it. 😊
I just ordered this kit and after watching the video can't wait to embellish it to make it unique to me!! I love your products and your videos are wonderful teachers!! Thank you so much!
I absolutely love butterflies and this project!! It is on my must have list for sure. Thank you so much for creating this project. I also loved watching Jennifer’s face light up as Diane fluffed up the embellished body. Happy Sewing!
i made 2 purple rose. 1 for my daughter for mother's day. she absolutely loved it! very east to follow instructions. waiting for the pink tulip order snd ordered 2 of the butterfly kits. I'm hooked!!
Got mine ordered! Love that it’s a butterfly and love the colors! I have to tell you, I love the stickers. I’m able to organize my sections, in order, and I can just sit and sew. Great great feature😊
I truly loved watching both the butterfly and rose videos. Seeing that these occurred sometime before I am wondering if there are any kits still available. I would truly love to make for a friend who dedicates so much time to me. We are separated by distance and her birthday is in the same month. By chance if roses and butterfly kits are still available I would be very interested in getting the kits. Even if there are no kits could newer fabric be made up so that I could make the fronts up and I would make the completed front design with border included as two cushions for her bed. She loves the ocean, and purple and greens. I would want express postage’s to Australia. I’m really hoping you can help. I do love these designs , colours and foundation paper piecing to which I’m familiar. Fingers crossed you can help Shabby Fabrics. Julie ❤❤
We’re so happy you enjoy these projects, Julie! You can shop all of the kits in our Foundation Paper Piecing Series here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/c6583 -Michelle
Love butterflies and just ordered and received mine. Can't wait to get started. When pressing, do you use a dry iron? I also love the idea of a dragonfly for an upcoming month. I plan on turning my finished butterfly into a throw pillow.
Hello! Thank you for all your great tutorials! In almost all tutorials, I notice the iron you use... when you set it down while hot, it automatically rises so as not to burn surfaces... it looks like a great help while sewing! Does this feature come with the iron itself or is there some gadget I can buy for my own iron? I live in Greece and I haven't seen anything like it!
We’re so glad you enjoy these fun tutorials! This iron is the Oliso Iron TG1600 Pro Plus. The rising up when set down is a smart feature of this iron, but I’m not sure if they’re available in your country. Thanks so much for your kind comment :) -Michelle
This is fabulous. I am thinking of stitching this and adding it to the back of a denim jacket. Have you considered whether or not the additional embellished thread on the body of the butterfly would be washable?
That is such a great idea. We would love to see your finished project photos! Our makers recommend washing this only when absolutely necessary and by hand in cool water. Hope this helps. -Kristen
Do you have any kits left over I may be interested in this design. I’m not sure when this video was filmed. I’m in Australia. Yes, I know the shipping will be outrageous. So wondering if you can help I do love the butterfly. ❤❤
Just came across your video on RUclips. I simply Love this Butterfly pattern, I raise Monarch’s) and am wondering if I could order the pattern? Thank you in advance.
That is so cool! 🦋 Yes, we have a pattern for you on our website! Here is the link: www.shabbyfabrics.com/p151285/foundation-paper-piecing-june-pattern?c=6901 Hope this helps and thanks for your comment! - Abby
Thank you for watching! Because our pattern includes the foundation paper and stickers we do not have a PDF of this project pattern at this time, but we will pass that suggestion along! -Kristen
Diane suggests embroidering the antennas using the Dazzle Thread that she made the 3D butterfly body with. A stem stitch or a chain stitch would work great for this! -Kristen
just a quick note - if you no longer have the cardboard to use and fold back your paper template, you can use the 'flat' side of your quarter inch ruler to fold. I have stickers on my ruler that say 'fold' and 'cut' so I don't forget which side I should be using, especially when I am cutting.
Can you go bk and order the other kits? I just found out about these. How many monthhs does it last and do the videos always stay up to watch later? Sorry so many questions.❤
There will be a total of 12 blocks in this series so stay tuned for more. We currently have limited quantities of the kits, but the pattern will continue to be for sale. -Kristen
@@ShabbyFabrics thank you so much for that information I'm so happy that y'all will continue for 12 months and that we can get the pattern even after the series is done

The cardboard back of notepad paper works very well to fold around to crease on fold

Totally agree would be so much easier
What do you do to make the 2 antennaes on the head of the butterfly? Any suggestions? Beads on a wire?
Diane suggests embroidering the antennas using the Dazzle Thread that she made the 3D butterfly body with. A stem stitch or a chain stitch would work great for this! -Kristen
Can you use a thin metal ruler for doing the paper folding/crease before trimming?
