Hes not out of the woods yet! Foamers are the kind of person that will stick their nose in their neighbors friends cousins moms bosses sons business and cause trouble just because they are entertained by it and it makes them feel good about themselves to cause others problems. Always bothering the railroad employees and making their job harder. I never understood why, if they love trains so much, do they not get a job with the railroad instead of harassing and bothering the railroad employees? Every foamer I've ever spoke to or had an interaction with were nasty, entitled, know it all just plain rude people. Rail fans are quite different. They enjoy the railroads and trains from distance and don't want any problems while foamers, as you know, go out looking for trouble. It almost makes me wonder if foamers use watching trains as ploys to get into arguments with people. Anyone who has a "hobby" that commonly gets the police called on them and is not liked by the people they watch work are just no good. I say all this as every foamer interaction I've had has been terrible. Foamers will say it's because of me but I get along with everybody and don't have trouble with anybody, except foamers. Railfans as I've said have all been nice and easy going and approachable, just good overall people. With utube now, I'm not sure what's worse, the foamers watching his videos and crying and blowing him in (TRYING to get him in trouble but shoe has a brain so he can avoid the issues the foamers make) or the bulls. Foamers are just abrasive, nasty, rude, arrogant terrible people. They're like grown children but never actually grew up like their body did. Again, let me make this clear, foamers- bad, railfans- good normal mature easy going people. The way foamers act and talk to normal people remind me of that spoiled, only child that would stomp his feet and cry until he got his way that did not play well with other kids and cause trouble and blame it on a different innocent kid that had nothing to do with it other than trying to get the bad kid to not do what ever he was doing. Memories, memories. You guys may be too young but back in the late fifties and sixties my dad, a RR worker, introduced me to a old "rail rider" that used to camp nearby. Next to two rail yards between the tracks on a wooded area called "Hobo Jungle." West Central Indiana. The old C & EI, Milwaukee RR, Contrail, etc. Can't remember his name, an older gent. He was a "Hobo" that won the medal of honor in WW2. Returned home and hated the rat race and lies about about many things. Used to love going down there and swap food and water for stories and learning how to cook and do stuff with them. Seems many of them there back then were veterans and had far different reports than what we are led to believe about that war and life in America.

Lots of hobos are veterans. Not so much the new age homeless people but the older generation that is dying off. It's weird, when you're so used to just the minimum and only having what you can carry and a few things at base camp and roughing it during your military time, it almost doesn't feel right to go back to easy life for some people. They prefer the "hard" life as it's what they know and are comfortable with. This lifestyle we're all so used to is still pretty new to man. We haven't had this extravagant, wasteful over the top way of living for very long. Humans are made to work to sustain life. It's engraved in our ancestry and dna. The further we get away from our roots and the more people adopt this lifestyle as normal, the more those who embrace the old way or the hard way are gonna stick out. And in this day and age, you stick out like that and you get left behind an pushed down. That amd some just can't return to normal life. They get so used to roughing it the hard way, when they come back they don't want anything to do with regular life because it doesn't make them comfortable. And being different like that in this day gets you picked on amd pushed to the side. These new generations demand you to except them amd embrace them and not hurt their feelings, meanwhile they sht all over everyone else who thinks or says different them they say and they sht all over their feelings and beliefs as they demand you respect theirs. Society is heading down a steep slope that isn't gonna come back to normal easy. We're gonna have to hit some real hard times and it's gonna weed out the cry baby useless people. Unfortunately it's gonna come down to that and only the strong and tough survive.
I have heard about your videos for a long time never looked for them then one of them was on the top when I opened youtube today so I subscribed and started watching more but what i what i wanted to say is that my great grand father started hobo days I have never been there but my day tell me stories
Has anyone collected stories, memories, etc. of these personages? It’d be fascinating… Stay safe, healthy, and ride on! Edit: I just found out about the museum in Britt. Added to the list to visit…
Tales of an Anerican Hobo was written by Charles Elmer Fox and can be found at many a library in the US. His Hobo name was Reefer Charlie as he rode those fast refrigerator cars, he'd use his walking stick loop it thru his belt and the steps on the ladder and take a nap. He also foraged most of his life....he loved sharing stories with others, just ask Gypsy Moon.
This has truly been amazing watching this channel from a different point of view♡. Honestly I used to be terrified of "hobos". Why, I dunno I guess I was taught that🤷🏼♀️. But now, I'd love to go hop a train with y'all!! I love nature and peaceful serenity. I'm a free spirit:) If y'all ever passing New Orleans, holla hehehe 😍 Edit; Why would people show up to something like this if they don't wanna be on video or photos? That sux for those who are proud vloggers.... AND Shoestring you never have to wait for something interesting to video! Just listening to you talk while you walk the tracks is extremely interesting❤ Yikes sorry so long:))

Hiya again. My grandpa was from Iowa and during the Depression, all the families in town took care of at least one hobo by fixing them up with a daily meal and got to know some of their stories while they were around. Thanks for the much anticipated video! Number 4. Four directions...I like it.
When I was a kid I spent many time in the train yards in different stations in Chile, I walking over the rails and between the cars and locomotives, seeing all and talking aloud with myself. Last year in the lockdown days I found Hobo Shoestring in RUclips, and his videos did return me to the sens of my childhood days. Thanks for that, great Hobo Shoestring, God Bless you.

I met NY Ron once. I rode with him out of Moorhead back in the mid 90’s. I don’t remember much about it but I do remember the impression he made on me.. he is definitely in the most befitting resting place.. much respect.
We used to have the old Milwaukee station come through Austin MN I used to stand on top of the bridge I loved watching the trains. Good luck shoestring.

Looks like about 95% of people buried in this graveyard are veterans
we prepare them to fight but never do anything to prepare them when they return
@@mikeznel6048 Many homeless people are veterans.... Also in the USA...
@@mikeznel6048 even most veterans would not like to live the life of a hobo.

Has anyone collected stories, memories, etc. of these personages? It’d be fascinating… Stay safe, healthy, and ride on!
Edit: I just found out about the museum in Britt. Added to the list to visit…
That does sound cool!
@@susanpeters4608 Thank you!!! Will look for it…

This has truly been amazing watching this channel from a different point of view♡. Honestly I used to be terrified of "hobos". Why, I dunno I guess I was taught that🤷🏼♀️. But now, I'd love to go hop a train with y'all!! I love nature and peaceful serenity. I'm a free spirit:) If y'all ever passing New Orleans, holla hehehe 😍
Edit; Why would people show up to something like this if they don't wanna be on video or photos? That sux for those who are proud vloggers....
AND Shoestring you never have to wait for something interesting to video! Just listening to you talk while you walk the tracks is extremely interesting❤

Back in 1976 , I rented a house from "Steam Train Maury" Graham. What a wonderful man.I grew up beside the same house I rented in Ohio and knew his wife and twins. Thanks for the memories. I had a brief riding experience myself.
I don’t think I’ve been as interested in anything else on RUclips. I can’t get enough of Shoestring, best channel as far as I’m concerned!
Realy good job Shoestring. Like the interview with Goneagin.
Thanks for the update. Shoestring lives another day
Shabaz comes across as a Simple Soul. A friend to All. Uncomplicated. I served in the Navy with such a man as that.
