The sound of a train sounds soothing. As a child me and my friends would play in the train yard then camp under the train bridge. My mom said her uncle use to hop a train out to Idaho to work on farms and they wouldn't see him again for many months.. Hobo you are one of the last remaining old time hobo legends...be safe.
Go to the Dalton, GA old freight depot at the diamond and wait for a southbound CSX train pulling tank cars. There is nothing soothing about the way those wheels squeel after crossing over the NS rails and bends parallel to be them. It's so loud and so piercing that it feels like they are slicing your brain in half.

Your footage of the American Landscape mesmerizes me. It is so beautiful to see how much land our nation has that isn't disturbed by a metropolitan city, airport, or ugly suburban neighborhood. Truly a rare and welcome sight for sore eyes. Also, your riding in trains the old fashioned way satisfies this locomotive fan.
Those Wyoming skies had to be the clearest….and bluest. So many folks appreciate your unique storytelling…. along with that special drawl. Most of all … many of us like the way you make us “notice” things around you in a way that harkens back to our childhood. These videos are precious and we sure don’t take them for granted. When living in Raytown MO. In my teens & preteens we had a track not 100 yards away . A train would run from 9:30 pm and another at 10:30 pm and they would run for at least 20m to 30 minutes, if I did not fall asleep during the 9:30 run I’d have to wait till the 10:30 train. Made for a miserable school day if I missed the early train. Great vids Shoestring! Many help with my naps at 65 yo. Smiles
This is shot and edited better than most videos on RUclips. Nice long shots that are well-composed and steady; No inane music. Sparse but complete narration. Great narrative that shows us a side of the country that we never see. I added it to my favorites so I can come back to it whenever I want to go out west for a minute or 30.

I drove on that part of I-80 in this video in May of 2023 and there were still some patches of snow alongside the interstate from last year's winter snowstorms in the area. It was quite amazing to see.

I live in a town with plenty of trains and tracks due to nearby chemical plants. While waiting for passing trains, I now examine each passing car to see if it would be a good place to hop and ride. Thanks Shoe. lol

Glad to see you going to Green River. I grew up there so it's great to see it again. Incidentally, that spot at the end where you were taking panorama shots--pretty close to where George from JOTC hopped off too-- a couple of those rocks are called Kissing Rocks. Driving I-80 east right there you can look up and see the rocks slowly appear to come together and "kiss." We once saw some rattlesnakes while hiking around there, too. Keep an eye out! 🍀🚂

I miss travelling out through the western US.
Pretty cool scenery but the Route the train takes from Cheyenne over to Rock Springs is definitely one of the least scenic stretches in Wyoming.
