I just started watching the shoe strings videos in the beginning of December I really liked him watch several and then I was trying to read the comments and everybody said he was no longer around that the rest in peace stuff . Is shoestring alive or is he not ? Wish I would have started watching sooner
Social media is a great tool to give someone the ability to touch others people's hearts and connect with them with the stories they have whilst still being alone.
Shoestring, you're the best on U Tube. I don't really associate U Tube as the best of anything, those who present the TRUTH on u tube are usually censored, and de monetized by u tube. Your video reminds me of a homeward bound motorcycle ride I took from Yellowstone, through Cody, WY, through Greybull, through Sheridan and Eastward. I can't remember seeing much of the town of Greybull, the highway may not pass directly through town. I absolutely can recall riding over the mountain by Greybull toward Sheridan. I traveled through the worst hail storm I've ever witnessed, I was so, so thankful the hail was slamming against the helmet instead of my head. Shoestring, I know railroaders, you also by far exceed the average railroader in terms of temperament, and railroad knowledge, whether the subject matter is related to the job description of the engineer, conductor, maintenance of way, yardmaster, of for that matter trainmaster. Your are a walking, and talking railroad encyclopedia/rule book.. Take good care of yourself..

That "flat tire" noise would drive me NUTS but Shoestring is used to it. I wonder if he has set camp at night and then had an encounter with a rattler or two. I wish he would share any snake stories with us. His hoarse voice had me concerned that he was coming down with some sickness but hope that was not the case. I LOVE his videos!
Shoestring is right about needing good, broken in shoes when you're hopping trains, especially when the train stops and you're gently awakened from a sound sleep by a a railroad police office, 🚔 a.k.a a bull! What an effective alarm clock ⏰️ The bull says " Hello there, top of the morning to ye" , and points a 9 mm pistol in your face! You go from 0 to 120 in 2 milliseconds, and to quote the "honorable" Josh Hawley, you think to yourself, feet do your thing 😉 😜 😀 😄 🤣 👍 You definitely don't want to trip on your shoestrings when you have a cop in hot pursuit, looking to take away your freedom 😉 😜 😀 😄 🤣
So Lou, why are you here then, if your gonna be such a foamer hater. This a foamer channel, duhhh! It was a foamer comment, take a relaxation pill before you have a brain hemorrhage. Did you ask Shoestring, if it was a dumb comment?

For those interested,he's referring to Sharps Arms in Big Timber. In the movie, Selleck used a model 1874 Sharps Buffalo Rifle. Keep up the good work Shoe!
That movie you're talking about is called "Surviving the Game" with Ice T, Gary Busey, Rutger Hauer, F Murray Abraham, Charles S Dutton, John C McGinley. It's a really good movie based off the book "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell
Safe travels, every time I see a train rolling by I am always looking. Growing up we lived close to the GM&O, from time to time we had travelers stop by and ask for a sandwich, never ask for money. Always very nice folks. My mother didn’t like it to much but she thought it was the Christian thing to do. She told me it might be an angel dressed up like a HOBO. So there you go.
Howdy from Wyoming. I'm a big fan of Wind River Canyon. Good pullovers for snacks and car camping, great scenery, trains and tunnels and vicious black ice in Winter.
Glad to see you riding again, Shoestring! Also, being from BC originally, is was pretty cool that you knew the rail hub for the lumber. Prince George is it, all right. I used to live there. It was neat to hear you reference something near where I used to live. Be safe!

I doubt it's a bolt -- probably just a corrosion pit that happens to look like one. Railroad wheels are very hard steel and I don't think something could become embedded in one like that.
I had a great aunt Addie and uncle Sylvan that lived in Greybull. Very fond memories of discovering that they had a laundry shoot and running up and down stairs, dropping toys down it. Thanks, String.
